Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this episode of the audionerds podcast the guys talk about A.I and what they feel the technology is focusing on primarily. Is the culture of mastering the first attack of A.I? 100% a threat. When a former Chief A.I. engineer, MO Gawdat and one of the founding fathers of A.I, Geoffrey Hinton say things like "They learn better than the human mind" or "We find ourselves in troubling times" and "They're alive" has a lot of weight. They'll take over everything, including the music production, human feel or not they will succeed. The human feel was the argument in defense of visual arts not losing it's appeal in their early infiltration stages of A.I in the visual market. Look at what A.I did to the human feel of visual art.

Devvon is right i feel all it takes is an ai child show to become popular and all those 5 yr olds are going to grow into adults who like ai art in all forms of entertainment. Movies, shows, music, games, etc. It doesn't have to be a show but something ai will come out and younger people are going to accept it

I think AI will be useful as a tool but human element, class, discretion are all things to be discovered with it. It WILL get better. The responsibility of the Ai is the thing that's questionable. Will it improve the industry of well seasoned producers and music lovers experience? It's def up to the consumer. It's the responsibility factor what's will love your ear, back? Will it keep the love of the experiences totality is my question and I'm excited for the ride.

@HelpMeDevvon Not sure if you guys are aware of Phil Speiser's plugins, but AI mixing is already here. THE_STRIP plugin does just that. Put it on all your tracks and it levels, compresses, OTT, EQ, and mixing all tracts at once (and keeps them that way while you work), and his THE_LIQUD 2 plugin does that same for reverb. The AI built in has a typing prompt section also in case you wanna ask it something about the mix, its crazy to even see.

in case of a common musician, A.I can really mix and master his song to a point that is good enough and easy enough just to show a noob certain things that he can adjust to taste and balance alone. BUT the really professional artist that really want that big record that has a lot of instruments and and stuff, for sure A.I won't be enough. But imagine those new rappers that just have 1 flow and 1 beat and they just need to sit their vocal on the mix or those new post punk/rock LoFi singers that also buy instrumentals and just need their vocals to sit in the mix.

It will naturally work itself out where us engineers will get more work from people who truly care about the craft instead of hobbyists. Side note, I hate when vocals are too harsh and the high-end or people push slate digital fresh air too far, then when they do punch recording you can hear the are going in and out of the punch. 2 issues with AI: 1 is that AI can't innovate. It can only do what it's been trained on, which means that if AI becomes the standard, over time, it'll be trained on itself, and it will level out and stagnate. That is to say, if we solely rely on AI for mixing and mastering, music progress will grind to a halt. Issue 2, AI is gonna be used and abused by high profile people to cut as much personnel as possible across all industries. Engineers are gonna start off using AI for creative solutions regularly, that's no problem. What happens when AI develops far enough that your clientele could say "why do I need engineers then? Especially because at some point AI could be training in the background of your computer without you knowing cus maybe you clicked a Terms of Service without reading and agreed for AI to learn your habits and sell that data to 3rd party companies. Again, AI can't innovate, but it can steal our heat enough to put us out of work.

Some amazing things have come from that. At the same time one of the reoccurring sentiments I hear is how dumbed down some of the accepted music is now . Kinda the same thing.

Yeah and no from an artist perspective who is old-school like Tupac you wanna just focus on creating music not mixing and mastering and if your upcoming music not making any money to spend on engineering so ai will be the future for mixing and mastering. So many say invest in your music from a business part investing in music without the total amount to break in guarantee it would be considered as a bad investment as of right now the amount to make it in music cost roughly on min 150,000 or go viral through content creation which is hit or miss otherwise everyone would be hitting it big off it. smart investments plans are the ones you can judge the outcome 70 percent of the time.

It SORTA doesn't matter if AI ever becomes "as good" as a human mixer/producer. Most listeners can't tell the difference between a "perfect" mix and a mix that's 85% there. AI will train listeners to be 'good' with their style of mixing/production. It's speed will result in absolutely saturating the market with AI songs and its inexpensiveness will convince all but a few major labels to use it (almost exclusively). BUT, all of this is moot because the future of music is consumers making +their own+ (AI) songs (with prompts) and sharing them with their small circle of friends. The days of a million people all listening to and knowing +the same song+ are gonna be done within my lifetime. (Music +distribution+ is on its way outta here.) Your "radio" is going to +create+ the songs you listen to.

definitely agree, that’s exactly what the lower barrier of entry for music nowadays has done; made it a more casual and common thing for people to share music they’ve made. Once AI gives non musically inclined people the ability to make music without so much investment (besides maybe a subscription), AI music will be a common and accepted thing.

  • @nilespeshay1734

@@OPENNOTES24 I guess there's a few different ways to look at it... If your aim is to sell music you made, then yes - be scared, because you're f'ed. ANOTHER way is that music wasn't "made" to be recorded and sold. It was "designed" for communion. To be played together and appreciated in a live setting. So, anything that is not that is a bit of a corruption. And there aren't many industries, built on a fundamental corruption, that last forever. Music is forever. Recorded music.. maybe not so much.

@@KeiiVice +I'm NOT saying this is you+ but there's a bit of "pulling the ladder up after us" in the "AI music debate". We, ppl who use DAWs and work in the box, hated on the people before us who said that in order to be a "real musician" you needed to record in a studio and you had to know how to mic a drum kit and know the circle of 5ths etc. Now, that DAWs are basically the norm we're NOW saying that people who are only using AI prompts to make music aren't "real musicians" because they don't know how to sequence a drum pattern or use Scaler, etc. It's been a 'slippery slope' since 9th Wonder won a Grammy. And at the bottom of that slope is just flat land where everybody is a musician and there's absolutely nothing you need to learn to make a 'professional' song.

Ai can never replicate the raw and true spirit of a human writing a song out of emotions. Thats just my opinion, i just dont believe it. Mixing and stuff like that could be replaced to some extent because its alot of technicality behind it, not as much of creative process and personal aspects in that sense

I agree with you on this. Art is intertwined with our emotions whether a song is a translation of your emotions, trying to connect with others, telling a story, or pulpit from within a revolution. Emotion is tight interwoven into the fabric of what makes art important

Si will make the younger generations lazy but the younger listeners I think will accept it. When the young accept the older follow

“I like my women, with real… HUMAN elements.” 😂 LJ ain’t doing nothing but saying what everyone else hesitated to say and if the algorithm flags it, they’re programmed by a hater.

Courtney is wrong ai fs lowers the entry to music. There are SO many talented artist out now that wouldn't have made it without the bar being lowered and ai lowered the bar even more. The average person can't even notice a considerable difference in audio quality from song to song that's not apparent loudness. What Courtney is talking about is more for us audio nerds not the consumer. As an up and coming artist I can have ai turn my recordings into something the consumer will play and that could get me a deal that's all that matters

AI has potential to be a great tool but for it to completely take over may take some more time. In my experience, AI mastering has been horrible.
