My favorite things about this coaster: 1. Fast cable lift hill 2. First drop and ejector airtime 3. second ejector hill 4. third ejector hill, and a bonus, a head chopper effect 5. Various twists and turns 6. Tiny ejector hill near the end. 7. Banked turn after the final brake run.

Genuinely have a fear of heights and I just don't love the new fast lift hills, unless it's an insane variation like Top Thrill. Kinda kills the anticipation and fear level for me. It may be part of the reason Maverick has never clicked with me and why I still put Magnum higher on my list than basically everyone else in the world. That clanky horribly slow lift hill where you seem to be swallowed by Lake Erie manages to freak me out every time.

@@AirtimeThrills I rode it in August of 2020 and I thought it was amazing I've only been to Kings Dominion, BGW, Cedar Point, and Hershy so keep that in mind The restraints didn't bother me during the ride and while it had a rattle I thought it added to the overall crazienss of this ride. The first drop and 2 camel backs give the best airtime I've experienced and the last hill gave amazing air despite me being stapled. I completely disagree with you that the middle section was boring. The 2nd Camelback gave just as good airtime as the first hill, and the stangle dive gave great laterals. That little turn before the cutback gave some of the best laterals I've experienced. On all of my 8 rides I couldn't stop my body from getting thrown to the side. That moment is criminally underratedI do agree that the cutback was really good. Those big turns in the first half were also really intense and fun. I rode it 8 times and each ride just solidified it as one of my favorites.

Skyrush is a coaster at my home park that I’ve literally ridden more than any other on the planet (hundreds of times). It’s true that’s it’s developed a rattle over the years, particularly in the first banked turn after the first ejector hill. The rattle is more pronounced in a wing seat, for sure. Anymore I always try to ride it in a track seat. I like to ride with my hands up (the whole way) and it’s much less painful in a track seat. Wing seats wreck my back when riding with arms in the air. That being said, they key to not getting stapled is to put your foot on the tunnel and under the restraint when the ride op comes through. Yes, the restraints will inevitably come down on your legs through the course of the ride, but not being stapled going over the hill in the last row is insane. And yes, the last row is where it’s at! People always want to wait for the front row, but the best ride experience is in the back. And by all means, make sure you hook your legs under the seat when taking on those airtime moments. It’ll save your thighs! Out of 350(ish), it’s a top 25 coaster for me. Not be cause it’s perfect. Not because it’s restraints are painful at times. But because of what it does in an incredibly small footprint. When it’s warm and running well, the ejector airtime is second-to-none. Skyrush is a coaster that you’ll likely get off for the first time not terribly impressed. But as you ride it more and understand its nuances, will begin to appreciate just how insane it is.

So I really love this coaster, yeah it does give some serious pain when you are sitting on the brake run, but I found a way to kind of not really be stapled by the restraint. When you get on the coaster in the station, pull the lap bar down a bit but not all the way and move up in your seat so the bar comes down more towards your waist rather than your legs. I am a skinny boi so I cant speak for everyone. I found that to be less painful, and I think it would help your opinion of this ride. Ah man, back left is the magic seat! To each his own, though! Skyrush is my undisputed number one, even above other fan favorites like Steel Vengeance, Lightning Rod, X2, Fury, and The Voyage. I remember being bummed out when I saw the (horribly) animated layout in 2011, but for me, every part of the ride delivers... especially the "dead zone," which I find to be the most hilariously aggressive part of any US coaster. Interestingly enough, the ride I would most compare to Skyrush is Outlaw Run. Both have life-changing first drops, are unimaginably aggressive, and tend to staple you pretty bad. And I know you've shared on this channel that you're not a big Outlaw Run fan, either. Anyway, great video. I look forward to 2022 when it makes your top 10!

Those banking elements also felt much better with the major feeling of elevation change from side to side. Its in my top 10, but overall I'd probably give it a 9.5/10. I hit coaster #450 with Orion this summer, so I've experienced almost the same amount of coasters as you. I've ridden Skyrush 10 times and only got stapled once. The front row is a complete different experience than the back, and the wing seats are a different experience than the middle seats, regardless of the row. It's a top 10 coaster for me. The middle seats remind me of Milly and the wing seats are intense if it is hauling at top speed. It is a unique love/hate ride experience coaster that varies each time. If you get that great ride experience on it, you will put up with the stapling and bad experiences to recapture the magic of a legendary ride. I wish I could say the same about El Toro...

One of my last rides on there, I was on the second to last row in the back, left wing seat. I would definitely consider that the most intense seat. I would definitely try that seat if you want the most intense ride (in my opinion). Granite I am 5'5", and I don't know if that makes a difference compared to someone who is over 6 ft, but it definitely threw me around those turns. Either way, I'm glad you got to re-ride it and change your opinion. (You still need a ride in in the front row though) lol.

I feel this so much. I was super excited to ride Skyrush as I305 is at my home park. I couldn’t even take in the views because I just wanted it to end. Many don’t like Intimidator, but atleast it isn’t a painful ride.

One thing I noticed when I visited in 2022 was that they lift up the restraints a little bit once you stop on the brake run. That way, you're not sitting there in constant pain, which I appreciated. Another aspect was that first drop and those turns in the back row had some amazing laterals. For example, I was riding in the back left-wing seat with my hands up during the drop, just to be violently jerked to the right as I hit the bottom of the drop. Yeah, it may have hurt, but I've never had a coaster do that to me.

Defintely an elite coaster for me, I rode it back in 2014 on my last US trip and would definitely love to give it another go. I have to add though, that I certainly also experiences the pain on those two airtime hills, but it was a hot and humid day, and the ride was so aggressive and intense... About the drop, it shocked me that the last bit really pulls you out of your seat so much, I did not expect that when I first rode it. To me it still is one of my personal favourite drops on any roller coaster. And by the way, I rode it 16 times when I visited the park (1 day) and left without bruises or anything like that ;-)

Honestly I’ve never gotten stapled on this, and I never try to hold the lap bar up at all. Also that second airtime hill always feels more powerful than the first. I will say that riding it early in the day is significantly different than the end. My first ride ever had barely any airtime and by the end of the day it felt like it was going to kill me.

I am in top 10 camp. For my 5 rides, it was just Insanely intense. I could see the layout being repetitive and weak, but for me it's all about the forces! I remember on a front seat wing ride, it pulled me around so much, I actually had to white knuckle and hold on for dear life for the first time in 260 coasters because I thought it was genuinely going to rip me out the side of the train for a moment. I think the comparison to a mini i305 says it best. It's fast, forceful, and out of control-and that's why I instantly fell in love with it on my first trip to Hershey in over a decade this year....

Disagree completely (sorry Airtime). The only coaster for me that has similar ejector to Toro. Restraint didn’t bother me, but I’m also a bigger guy who doesn’t really mind being stapled. Maybe I’m just crazy...

I haven't ridden Skyrush before but I can't believe that it'd have more airtime than Steel Vengence. I prefer intensity over airtime but SV had by far the most of any coaster that I've ridden but my coaster count is probably only around 100 or so.

Personal thoughts: I have to pull as hard as I can on the lap bar the whole ride, and I get moderately stapled, not too painful. I went to Hershey twice this summer, and it was running really well, so I thought all the turn elements were super forceful, complimenting the airtime moments well. I definitely concede that unless you pull with all your strength, the bottom of the first hill will kill your legs. The first turn only has single spine track, and I definitely feel the rattle. Bottom line, I love this ride because I can (barely) keep the lapbar from killing me, and most of the elements popped when I rode it this summer. I totally understand where you’re coming from, and honestly think it’s just a bummer you’ve had a lesser experience than most enthusiasts with this ride.

Haven't ridden it but I'm intrigued. My home park is Cedar Point and was for a decade, Kings Island and only recently got back into coasters (thanks 2020 and endless youtube! and your channel!). I'm mainly intrigued to try out those seats and I am short AND chubby. Just got my first and ONLY ride (ugh access passes) on Steel Vengeance two weeks ago and my singular complaint was the damn restraints that put my stomach roll in some sort of "over or under" purgatory with all the airtime. Assigned seating but we ended up in the front row (as someone generally afraid of heights, that's usually my preferred spot but after an assigned last row on Millennium, I'm rethinking this) and I think I want to rank it at the top? But mostly it just scrambled my brain (in the best way) and I still don't even fully comprehend what all happened. On the other hand, I get what you mean about the layout. Sure, I haven't been on it but the first person videos and the general layout just don't impress me. It definitely looks like a LOT of filler. Hoping on a solid 2021 season armed with Cedar Fairs Platinum pass for the first time. If we end up going through PA, we will definitely revisit Hershey Park. I went once at the peak of my "horrified as an only child on a family vacation" adolescence around 2000 ish.

I will say that it was hauling that day and you could really feel that airtime hill and the first drop but after that it was more sedate.

I definitely agree that the layout sucks, but what's so incredible about it for me is the airtime, and forces in general. I also hated it the first time I rode and was in great pain afterwards, but I gave it a second chance and adjusted the way I sat and came out feeling exhilirated. Everything about the ride feels extremely intense for me, not just the turnaround like you mentioned. It's one of the most intense and aggressive experiences I've had on a coaster, and I say that even as someone who has ridden I305. Probably the most insane ejector air I've ever felt personally, and some of the turns can whip you with some strong laterals, especially on the wing seats. I still think the restraints suck, and the experience could have been a lot better if they were different, but the forces are enough to make it a noteworthy ride for me.

Chris, I run We Were Inverted. I just wrote a blog a few weeks ago saying how much more I like this ride than I ever used to. I'm only 90 minutes from Hershey. Been many times. I think they changed the padding to a softer material. It's not the same light blue anymore, it's now dark blue. And ride ops constantly ask me if I'm comfortable when putting down the restraints. I scoot up and arch my back up a bit. After they do their thing I scoot back into the seat and don't have any issues now. Sure, it could be better, but it isn't like it used to be.

Every element on this ride is insane imo. The drop has a double pop of airtime. The turns are super forceful, and every hill has insane ejector. The Stengel dive is fun and the turn after has insane laterals, and those final two hills are crazy. I find holding the bars on the side of the lap bar really helps make this ride amazing. I currently have this ranked 4/169, above steel Vengeance too

I have pencil legs and the restraints have never bothered me ever since they modified them a few years ago. Even if you get stapled, the fact that you can still feel how aggressive the forces are is why I love it so much. On a normal day, those turns that you call dead parts of the ride absolutely slam your body around, and don’t even get me started on hot days. The ride almost feels dangerous. A trick that I found while riding was to sit forward in the station so that the lap bar comes down on your waist, rather than your mid-thigh. This might only work for me because I’m relatively skinny, but it’s worth a try. The angle the lap bars come down at means the further you can get it down it will be less vertical and more diagonal. Also something cool, ride on the left side (preferably back row), and the turn after the stengel dive absolutely whips you out of the train, it’s wild. Another thing, a couple seconds after the train parks on the brake run, the lap bars pop up a bit. It varies from ride to ride, but I’ve gotten anywhere from 1/2 an inch to 3.

I am weird 😂, I don't mind getting stapled on rides with ejector airtime (but still, some extra room is always better). Sometimes when I was unfortunately stapled on rides like El Toro, the RMCs, or Skyrush, I get that weird pleasure of the negative G forces stretching my upper body upwards and I absolutely love that feeling (again, I'm weird 😂). I think that is definitely a reason to why I think Skyrush is a top steel coaster in the US. Especially when it is running really fast, on that occasion the turns make me grey out and the second airtime feels just as awesome as the first. The only pain I feel on this coaster when the train I was on got stacked on the brake run (on some occasions, the ride ops will actually loosen the lap bars of the stacked train by a bit because they knew it might be an issue). But personally, that pain doesn't really bother me that much haha. Skyrush is just a fun coaster to talk about. Like you said in this video, I do agree with the statement that this is probably the most polarizing coaster out there. And I just love debating with people about polarizing things, coasters or not 😂.
