In Europe it’s called a Opel Omega lotus. Remember seeing a brand new one in Paris coming out of a small street onto the Champ Elysees as a 18 year old on a holiday. Damn I was impressed. I am 53, coming from Holland and haven’t seen one live ever since

That positive battery cable needs a grommet or a bulkhead pass-thru. If the sheet metal wears through the insulation (and it will) you are going to have a nasty short circuit.

That gunk that builds up from E85 is the exact reason you try to source ethanol free gas for anything with carburators. If gas with ethanol sits at all that tends to build up, especially in areas where the gas can evaporate (i.e. carb bowls) which then clog up your jets. Ask me how I know.

Fuel will evaporate and varnish. It's not the ethanol content. Yes, ethanol is hydroscopic, but, it's not the sole reason fuel turns to a varnish.

For what it’s worth, fuel cell bladders and baffle foam will deteriorate in a day or two , if left dry, after having been exposed / used with fuel. Same deal with AN rubber fuel lines. Having dealt with helicopters, immediately after de-fueling, our standard practice was to fog the fuel cells and fuel lines with motor oil, for preservation, while open / dry. I would imagine E-85 to be the worse yet in this aspect.

I will admit, seeing this thing again does give me the itch to get out and fabricate again. Seeing a good chunk of the custom parts of this (sans frame) put together with rivets and other more accessible tools really makes me want to hop back in the garage this weekend and get some of the stuff I've been putting off fabbed up for my project.

This is the best most educational car building/fabricating channel on the internet. It's like if Bob Vila and Gas Monkey Garage had a baby. Imagine not needing to look out for the next person, but then turning that process into content. Not just any content so far as I know this is the only channel custom fabricating Fords, Ferraris (with Japanese Motors), BMWs & Audis. No other channel varies builds like this in an easy to follow ,educational ,yet entertaining format.

You definitely should replace the foam in your fuel cells once a year. If f you leave it in there too long and it starts to break down, your whole fuel system will need to be replaced. Replacement foam is much cheaper than everything downstream. A fuel filter will not catch all of it, and the tiny parts that still make it through can clog your fuel injectors.

I built PTFE oil cooler lines following your old how to video, they’ve held up great. One pro tip is to only put angled fittings on one end of any given line, because the clocking of the fittings is hard to control when you build them

at 7:58 it appears that you don't have any grommets on the holes for the main battery cables as they pass through the firewall? That's a very quick way to blow up a lithium battery and cause a pretty nasty fire! The rest of the build is awesome, but having had friends whose cars have burnt to the ground due to electrical fires caused by similar, I just wanted to point it out to you, Mike, in case it's a genuine oversight... :)

I honestly laughed out loud when you said the temp. I live on the east coast, Massachusetts, and today it is 51 degrees and people are jogging in t shirts with their dogs , im outside in shorts with my dog lol, 60 is a very warm day, and 70 is downright hot, when it reaches anywhere near 80, people hide in their cars and homes out this way. It’s interesting how different people get climatized to different parts of the planet. Tangent over, love your channel.
