I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle kzread.infoUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.
I failed as much as I succeeded and it is real hard to admit you made mistakes, however, expressing how you feel to us and what motivated you to go forward is the greatest example of resilience, the ones that criticize and are always right about everything are usually doing nothing but giving their opinions, especially when not asked to, social medias are filled of those, you have my support on this journey and I’m glad I subscribed to this Chanel !!!

I most likely failed more than I succeeded, bankrupt addicted down and out in the gutter, got up again to end up in prison survived that one too. Got up again and I have a house of my own (no mortgage) and a small disability pension that is just enough to get by. I can tell you my life has been a helluva ride, but my children do better than I did, so yeah I'm a happy man.

I fail, all the time, so much so that Im jaded and depressed. I work hard but have no one to fall back on or help when needed. Now I just keep things simple as I can. Cant deal with the disappointment and heartache anymore.

@@phoenixfireclusterbomb keep your head up, failing is just a way of finding what doesn't work. Best part of that is not having to make that mistake again. Never give in, never give up! Just keep plugging along and you will succeed.
I ran a marathon many years ago when i was about 30. It was hard - i hit the wall big time but i finished. I am now retired and do woodturning, but don't do it to make a living. I do it because like you, i love to make things. Thank you for the inspirational story. Best to you and your family.
I respect the grind, man. We live and learn, we take our licks, and we never stop growing. Here to keep watching and supporting you here on YT!
Thanks @jonny builds for leading with your weakness / failure and being so real & relatable. I can relate…rather closely with your recent business pains & it’s inspiring to soak in your attitude and the way you have transformed the hurt into something beautiful for you, family, others. You’re not just a teacher, you’re a witness. I’m with JB! Never need to apologize for sharing from the heart. We’re not allergic to your philosophy. Thank you!
Top man. Takes a strong person to show their vulnerability. Always enjoyed your content and looking forward to more.
Thanks for sharing all of this brother. Thing I really enjoy about your content is the honesty and how your brain works with your CNC skills. And yes they are skills. I can speak from experience my brain has never been pulled in more directions in woodworking then when I started designing for the CNC. wishing you all the success in the world brother keep it up and take care

Of course I’m with you bro
I'm with JB! Thanks for this, Jonny! You're definitely a huge inspiration. So glad you're able to do what you love.
I’m with JB! Here’s to pushing on. God bless you Johnny!
Glad you are persevering. Quite inspiring. Your shop looks like a great space.
I've lost my butt on a business too, it's all about getting back up and trying again. My latest will be starting soon (I hope) and I'm starting small. Watching you and several other creators on KZread, is a huge inspiration. I'm tapping into my unique ability and artistry as well as my woodworking. Thank you for showing your vulnerability and inner strength. Maybe one day we could meet. Stay strong and keep making!
I'm with JB! Very inspirational and motivating. Thank you for posting, very well said!
Jonny, love and respect to you and your family (for supporting you). Thank you for the inspiration and God bless.
I've been watching your channel for years. You complimented one of my projects on Reddit years ago. I fan girled out. Thank you for making these videos. I'll keep watching, if you keep making!
I'm with JB! Thanks for the vulnerability! It's inspirational! I've been needing some motivation as of late. It's been very unlike myself, as I've always been, the stop for nothing go-getter type. So, again, thank you.
I can see your passion! I am so glad you realize a lot of people have been through things. Great attitude!
Thanks for being so real. Its probably the most honest I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing your journey. Lots of people think it is easy and then when you tell the story they realize what it took. Great video!
I'm with JB... Thanks for sharing and being so open. Love "Jabba the Cut"👍👍
Great vid! Very inspirational and one can certainly appreciate the resilience with having to start over more than once. I’m with JB!
I'm with JB all the way. Cheers to your successes, and cheers to the future! 🍻
I'm with you JB. Good stuff and thanks for the tour of your shop and the background of your trials and tribulations.
I’m with JB! I’ve never seen one of your videos, but man what a great story. I also juggle many balls, am a former runner, and consider myself a resilient being. My woodworking business is very young and small. Because of some of my past “lessons” I am unlikely to ever retire, so I am going to build this business. I am content to work until I die, but I’m going to make damn sure that it’s something I love to do once the day comes that I can no longer do the 55 hour, fast paced managers job I do now. Thank you for sharing!
As of 3 minutes ago, I am a new Subscriber! My husband and I are looking to start a CNC Business in combination with or leading to building Tiny Houses. The 3 videos of yours that I have watched have been very inspirational, especially the philosophical sharing of the difficulty you have endured. Hoping to learn from YOUR mistakes, not so many of our own, but still an encouragement to know you are working your way back from such a loss. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. Wishing you a better 2022 and beyond.
Glad to see things are looking up! Thanks for sharing. When you announced the Slaboratory I was always a bit interested in the dynamic between you and VRL. Were you planning to be a direct competitor? Did they share any thoughts with you on that?
I appreciate you too. Go get your dream, we’ll be here watching & rooting for you.
I'm with JB. I really enjoy your channel and your different way of doing things, your sense of humor, the funny little clips you add and the amazing things you do with your creative skills. i look forward to see what you do in the future as well as go back and watch some of the videos you have done in the past. That was an awesome story you shared and it is nice to know a wee bit about your background as it connects you more to people like me and others who enjoy the things you do and feel we are taking this journey with you.

I got cut from my gov't contract in July of 2021. Over the next few months, without pay, my company couldn't find anything for me. I decided "screw it" and quit. I walked away from almost 30 years of working at NSA to become a fulltime woodworker. It was the best decision I have ever made.
Jonny, I always look forward to what you're going to build next. I know this video came out months ago, but I think I needed to see this video today. I ran my own construction business for 25 years. I became burnt out due to all the stresses and moved away from my hometown and started over. I'm currently working as a subcontractor for several different companies but I'm still not happy. I have another business in mind that I am passionate about, but I haven't had the motivation to get started. Somehow, I think I lost my way. After watching your heart felt video, I feel so inspired again by your story. I have definitely felt the pain myself from past business experiences. Thank you for keeping your channel "Real". I love that you don't just share your successes but also your failures (we all have them). I'm with JB.
wow! thank you for your candor and being open about your failure and your loss. That is the #1 trait needed for success for all Entrepreneurs. I have been through something very similar to your situation...Twice... but not quite the financial impact that experienced. I am getting ready to start a custom woodworking business- well, I've been doing it for years, just only for myself or not charging money. But through that I have two other businesses I want to launch. And like all small business owners, I've got two kids I need to put through college. Thanks again and best of luck. Love your content.
You are an inspiration! I wish you and your family all the best.
Your Passion for your Craft and your Skills got you where you are now!!👍👍
Bought my first tool in high school. A Delta 10" miter saw. That saw ignited my passion. 25 years later and I still have that saw. Start creating with what you have, dont wait.
This video, sir, is precisely why I am subscribed to your channel. Rock on, keep sacrificing, creating and living you best life.....and sharing with us. God bless and much love.
I found your channel through your assembly table build a few years ago when I was just getting into woodworking and have been a fan ever since! (And then I think it was your 2x4 loveseat build that kicked off my audible addiction with Mindhunter.) In the KZread world you have found a way to stand out from the countless other makers and provide unique content. I take great pleasure in recommending your channels to others. Thank you for sharing your story. Keep up the amazing work. I’m with JB!

Im with JB. Thank you for the insight I was on the fence about a possible career/ life changing decision while watching this video. I'm going for it.
We learn far more from failure than from success. Failure is only bad when a lesson learned is not applied on the next venture. I've failed as hard (multiple times now) from bad business dealings and it doesn't get easier, but the fear of failure becomes less and less. It's critically important to know a business partner's character well before entering into a venture. Lesson I too learned the hard way. Those set backs sting, but they are also character building. A diamond is forged only through adversity.
Thank you for doing this video and all of your videos for that matter! With a humble attitude I believe that your business will grow better than your expecting. I hate that sometimes we have to go through situations like you went through. I wouldn't call them failures per say, I'd call them learning experiences. Hopefully we all grow form our mistakes and we can even learn from others mistakes. For those in the comments that are talking about giving up, DON'T! Even the biggest businesses have setbacks at times. Everybody struggles, stumbles and falls from time to time but get back up, dust yourself off and go at it again.
I agree with what you have stated. I have had 3 business and sold one and other 2 ended not very pleasantly. I am continuing to work on the next thing and people like you give so much inspiration thank you.
I'm with JB! Sorry about your loss, but congratulations on your new endeavors. Felix
I'm with JB - I always love it when there are comments at the end of the video like this, Thanks for sharing and love your work and videos
I’m with JB First video I watch from your channel and I am very happy of how you thoughts are in business. All the best for you creations and sharing through KZread
Dang! That is tough to stomach, I am glad it did not keep you down. One of the best heart felt , informative videos that I have watched. There are definitely some take aways here. Thanks .... "I'm with JB"

I'm with JB. Good story. You will thrive with your positive attitude and dedicated work ethic. It's rare to find a business partner who shares the same passion - let alone morals and work ethic. Keep calm and carry on!
Jonny you're incredible pal! Love the vulnerability! Spoke to you briefly on clubhouse and you were just telling us about the slab business at the time. Had no clue you went through this (soo sorry, but glad you're keeping your head up). Wouldn't expect anything less from an ultra-ultra marathon runner! haha keep on crushing it and stoked to follow along for the journey!

Running your own business is a major challenge, making a partnership succeed is a whole different world of pain! The only partnerships I've ever seen succeed, are between two people with the same goals (and integrity) but with pole opposite skills.
I'm with JB. Everyday is gift, enjoy it to the fullest.
I’m with JB man! Best of luck in all your endeavors
Great story and thank you for sharing! Inspiring me!!!!
true that man. you have to sacrifice a lot to get to the point you want. people only see the success of people but they dont know how hard and how much they sacrificed to get there. kudos for getting back up and staying positive!
I”m with JB! I’m with you I’m young but have been through some tough stuff and I apply it everyday and it make me a stronger man each day!!
Jonny, good for you getting out of that toxic situation with the business partner you didn't know. Learned a lot about you in this video and anyone who can train and complete a 100 mile race of any type is a warrior and someone to respect. You certainly deserve my measly comment, like and subscription in addition to my considerable admiration. :)

Just came across your channel as I'm slowly building my woodworking business as I have a full time job. Doubt it'll ever take over my mortgage, but a man can dream. :) Happy to subscribe and watch your journey to inspire me.
The most important is not falling but how we get up buddy. Good success to you.
Thanks for the inspiration, you are a super hero! (also "Jhava the cut") Good luck in the making and "paving" the long road for your amazing journey!
Love the shop Keep on hustling
I subscribed, because of the last few minutes of this video! Everyone fails, but not everyone gets back up.
Really great!!! Much respect!!! Go on and do what you love... always!!
I became aware of your channel by accident, since I am a craftsman myself, I am always looking for new ideas and inspirations. The video here impressed me very much, how openly you deal with your "defeat", which confirms my impression of you since the first video I saw of you, an honest and open family person. I wish you continued success and growing success. Warm greetings from Germany.

I'm with JB (but I AM also JB) I've been on disability for almost 14 years now, but have started a new treatment which is moving me in the right direction. I'm 54 and have been out of the workforce too long to even consider jumping back in with the younger whipper snappers, but I have started messing around with woodworking and resin (just finished my 1st charcuterie board). Just want to let you know that you and these videos are inspirational.
This was absolutely one of your best videos. Maybe it was the timing (I'm about to open a brick and mortar) but I certainly needed this reminder about resilience. I'm looking forward to the next iteration of the work table. I'm with JB!

One of the outstanding (and I think rare) characteristics of a successful entrepreneur is their ability to take a major hit - a failure - then to get up and keep going again. Most great successes follow on the heels of a failure. Proud of you for not giving up!
I’m with JB! Glad I have found your channel. Especially being a fellow okie!
Awesome story JB, I just found your channel. I'm local to you (Norman), I've been looking for somewhere to buy raw lumber and slabs and you blew my mind talking about VRLumber in OKC. I'm pumped to go check them out. I would always be willing to be a shop volunteer too if you need a hand!
Thanks for your story and the guidance for young woodworkers
We all have challenges. Stay strong and move forward
Great insights and solid advice buddy! Takes courage to stand up and share but you may have just prevented this from happening to someone else.
👍🏻 Great honesty. Good luck!
I loved this vídeo! 😍 And I'm with JB 👍🏼😉 here supporting. 👏🏼🙌🏼
That is good advice for anyone, thank you!
Great video. I enjoy viewing your shop. Keep on the good work. I'm with JB.
I’m with JB. Truly inspiring. I don’t comment much. I’m a wood turner and master carpenter. I really enjoy your videos. Unfortunately there will always be people who are hyper critical of content creators on all platforms. Anyone who has ever worked in an industrial setting to make a profit realizes the importance of efficiency, like your cnc provides. My son and I enjoy your videos and he’s becoming quite the maker himself. Our family will be praying for your continued success. Also from a veteran I appreciate your service we support the blue. Keep it up my friend! I’ll be in the back watching!
Just subscribed by watching this video! Love your tenacity!
Mistakes are just proof you are trying Johnny!!! Keep being awesome and pushing!!!
