my opponent did this in a 100% winning position. i blundered the petrov queen trap for some reason and then he castled long after a while. he had a piece on his diagonal leading to center and rook on his left. i take the pawn that becomes free after the long castle and he plays g3 in hopes of trapping my dark square bishop but by doing that he blundered bh3# and it was the most hilarious game ever. i think he was -10.5 as black and then blundered mate in 1.

OTB can be even worse as illegal moves are possible. I have continued games with my king in check for multiple moves, unnoticed. My opponent once wound up with two bishops on the same color squares, neither of us could remember when that happened (it wasn't an underpromotion scenario).
I had the reverse experience yesterday. I had a game in our local league which stockfish put me at 95% accuracy and in a completely drawn position... I blundered mate in two. Chess IS tough.

My worst move was in my first ever rated game in high school. Something like fifth move I picked up my kingside knight and hemmed and hawed trying to decide between e2 and f3, and compromised on e3. I somehow got it to the point where my kingside quadrant had 15 pieces in it. When I went back and replayed it from my notes, I saw the illegal move and threw it away in disgust. I keep wishing I kept it because I mapped out all the exchanges and came out a bishop ahead and eventually won the game.

This video was priceless. As a chess player who blunders constantly, I needed this in my life! Well done, sir!!
Most of us are used to the computer telling us we blundered. Discouraging as it can be, it's not as disheartening as when the computer asks, "WTF is wrong with you?" I hate that.
And levy tells us “checks, captures, attacks.”
I literally just had my worst game in months with 12 blunders, +9 up then threw so heavily from not considering a transposition - your video has made me feel much better about it thank you

Hey Gotham, there's this really cool KZreadr who teaches chess. There's this concept called continuity, when your 3rd opponent moved the Queen behind the Knight he was threatening a discovered attack! If you remember what your opponent was threatening a move ago you will surely improve! 👍👍

Absolutely loved this video and the last. Great job and ty.
Amazing keep the daily stuff coming!!
It’s nice to know the way my 400 vs 500 games often end is also possible at a 2800 vs 2750 level. Love the ones where you both blunder. Thanks for all of the great content, I’m just getting back into Chess after 20 years and am finding you both very informative and very entertaining.
I totally hung a mate on my first date too, there is a slot in the thinking process where you put "don't ever do this", as calculation intensifies that slot overflows, unless you're Hiraku.
I have done the premove blunder in the last example a number of times. I learned my lesson and now never premove castle if there are pieces under attack.
Great stuff! You use a lot of the same expressions I use when reviewing my games 😂
One of your best! Simply because we all can soooo relate to your frustration with yourself! Kudos for your humanity!
Those were some "Blunderful" games levy ;) keep up the awesome content!
Exhausting but instructive and hilarious. Recognize those blunders.😁 Thanks Levy
Levy, I've watched your content both on twitch and youtube since late 2020 and learned so much from you, but this has to be the most hilarious and relateable video I've watched on your channel outside of GTE. Thank you so much for this gem and for putting your mistakes out for all to see. We can all definitely agree... Chess is hard
The Rozman French makes an appearance. I remember getting your video on that line in my recommended recently having never seen it before.
Nearly every game: Levy with a humblebrag 'oh I'll never be GM' but 'Oh I won on time!' (the whole point of blitz/bullet!)
Few days ago I lost a game where I was up two pieces and the queens were off the board. I needed this. Thank you, Levy!
My favorite blunder. I moved a rook to the back rank to check the king, and to my horror the king somehow moved by three squares and took my rook! I then realized that was not the king, that was the queen. I thought I was checking the king but I was checking the queen, which is not a thing and the queen simply took my rook. I stared at the board in disbelief for about five minutes after that.
It feels better to know this can happen to anyone regardless their skill level. I feel like a stupid when my opponent makes a mistake in the opening and gets away with it or even gets the upper hand thanks to it. But it helps me motivated to study more and do better.
this was great really enjoyed it. keep it up ur the goat
One of your best recaps, Levy. I hope it wasn't too painful to relive those games.
Game 3 (I feel the pain Levy) - The exact thing happened to me, I saw a discovered attack on queen, moved the king and hung my queen in the very next move. Still don't know what happened to me back then.
8:24 I definetely want a t-shirt with that phrase 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly I liked your chess style. Really aggressive games. Was impressed by your chess moves specially considering it’s blitz games
I sometimes see a treath like 4 moves ahead and when the time arives to move away i forget about the whole thing and lose
Never thought I'd facepalm extensively at moves from players [error, math not complete] times my own rating
There was a game where I blundered a queen and a rook at the same time, thinking I mated my opponent. Later into the game, I play moves that blunder my remaining knight and rook. I lose the game.
You're a gem man! Love the video and the character you exhibit for outing your worst games. I and many I'm sure are pulling for you to make GM. I'm twice as old as you at least... have battle scars.. I just think that if you smooth out the emotional exuberance (only during your own games) you will get there. Your gray matter is genius! Just trying to give back. (I'm not a master)
I feel you Bro. Just when I think I'm getting better and seeing things, that's when I get beat to a pulp.
19:18 " and then I don't play fiiiiive!" Hilarious!!
i feel u bro... i analysed some of my matches and even stockfish agreed that i made nice moves - but for a different reason: it saw checkmate in 2 and i did it for positional benefits °_° even tho i checkmated 6 moves later, i was kinda shocked to see that
Fun video, I'd like to see the evaluations
Game 6 had me laughing when your opponent hangs mate, great video.
This encourages me to continue after wanting to give up. 😃 I played a game today and I was able to see my opponents moves, before it happened and still lost 😞
Love your humility. Great video mate.
I did the exact same thing you did in game 3 today. I had a great position out of the opening, and hung my queen in one move.
The Brilliant video followed by the Blunder video was amazing. Keep making awesome stuff.
15:40 you could have just taken the knight on f6, opponent takes back and you queen, once they take your queen with the rook you take back the rook and now it's bishop vs bishop instead of bishop vs rook
