my opponent did this in a 100% winning position. i blundered the petrov queen trap for some reason and then he castled long after a while. he had a piece on his diagonal leading to center and rook on his left. i take the pawn that becomes free after the long castle and he plays g3 in hopes of trapping my dark square bishop but by doing that he blundered bh3# and it was the most hilarious game ever. i think he was -10.5 as black and then blundered mate in 1.

My worst move was in my first ever rated game in high school. Something like fifth move I picked up my kingside knight and hemmed and hawed trying to decide between e2 and f3, and compromised on e3. I somehow got it to the point where my kingside quadrant had 15 pieces in it. When I went back and replayed it from my notes, I saw the illegal move and threw it away in disgust. I keep wishing I kept it because I mapped out all the exchanges and came out a bishop ahead and eventually won the game.

Could you make a video of the patterns of your own mistakes/blindspots? Something like, 'I always trade into a losing endgame, etc.'. Like how beginners usually struggle with central pawn captures? Really appreciate all the hard work

Outstanding 😆 under that much time pressure it’s hardly surprising it randomly comes off the rails sometimes. Seeing missed 3 to 5 move combinations, opportune mates etc would require seeing everything at once with no time for part by part thinking.

I totally hung a mate on my first date too, there is a slot in the thinking process where you put "don't ever do this", as calculation intensifies that slot overflows, unless you're Hiraku.

My favorite blunder. I moved a rook to the back rank to check the king, and to my horror the king somehow moved by three squares and took my rook! I then realized that was not the king, that was the queen. I thought I was checking the king but I was checking the queen, which is not a thing and the queen simply took my rook. I stared at the board in disbelief for about five minutes after that.

It feels better to know this can happen to anyone regardless their skill level. I feel like a stupid when my opponent makes a mistake in the opening and gets away with it or even gets the upper hand thanks to it. But it helps me motivated to study more and do better.

You're a gem man! Love the video and the character you exhibit for outing your worst games. I and many I'm sure are pulling for you to make GM. I'm twice as old as you at least... have battle scars.. I just think that if you smooth out the emotional exuberance (only during your own games) you will get there. Your gray matter is genius! Just trying to give back. (I'm not a master)

15:40 you could have just taken the knight on f6, opponent takes back and you queen, once they take your queen with the rook you take back the rook and now it's bishop vs bishop instead of bishop vs rook
