In low elo if you one move hang a piece, and the opponent doesn't immediately take it, you don't rectify your error because that would be admitting that you've made an error, and your opponent doesn't take it because then he'd admit that he missed taking a piece. What follows is a gentlemen agreement to proceed as if the piece is defended.
@VanquishR
Жыл бұрын
Alternatively, neither of them even notice that they hung a piece and keep playing the game completely oblivious to that fact. But yes, low elo players are indeed chivalrous gentlemen. It describes us low elo players to a tee

I'm like 910 and honestly totally relate to these guys. some games I'll feel like I'm playing amazingly, then the analysis afterward says I had 3% accuracy and blundered checkmate in 3 10 different times, then other games I'll feel like I played horribly and didn't do anything right and the analysis will say 90% accurate on both sides. chess is hard.

The former happened to me so many times that now many times after I played what I think was a good game I expect the engine to laugh at me. It happened to me so many times in the last 3 years that even when I play a legit good game I don't believe it unless I see the engine say it. For instance, a week or two ago I played the kind of position where both players are usually laughed at by the engine, after finishing the game I was like OK let's see what the engine has to say about this game, let's see how it will laugh at me and the engine said that my average centipawn loss was 16 in that game. I often have no idea what the engine will say about my games. Although sometimes I don't care about what the engine has to say about my game because sometimes my blunders are only punishable by ridiculous lines that only a titled player would see.
