Lovely routine. Very wise too! It comforted me that you read your Bible and prayed in the morning. I live in a small country in Europe and I’m always so thankful to see others serve the Lord. It gives me so much hope. Thank you, Jennifer 🙏🏻🤎

Prayer is the best way to start the day. I'm Orthodox Christian and say the morning prayers from our prayer book which takes about 20 - 30 minutes. Giving thanks to God and praying for others in the morning is so important. Lovely video, Jennifer. You remain in my prayers.

Hi Jane! I am also an Orthodox Christian and have been for only 4 years. How long have you practiced the prayer rule? I still struggle with making time for it but seem to come back to it quarterly with renewed fervor. ❤

As a Mum, the most important and enjoyable moment was having breakfast with my children. This is how I grew up, and I remember that my Dad would always set the breakfast table the night before, so my Mum wouldn't have to do it. French breakfast: coffee or hot chocolate, slices of bread with butter, honey or home-made jam. I loved having my parents and brothers around the table with me before they left for work and we left for school. Now as a grandmother, I enjoy doing the same with my grandchildren :)

Jennifer, I literally listed to Terry Savelle’s 5 things successful people do before 8 am video today for the first time! A few hours later I’m watching this video because I feel God is really calling me to make routine changes. I’m a mother of 3 and like many, I feel like the day needs more hours. I really need to start getting out of bed earlier, pray, meditate, journal and plan more efficiently. Thank you so so much for sharing your routine, even the moments that you didn’t want to 😄 you’re an inspiration because I know you also have children and have managed to accomplish so much. ❤ God bless you and your home 😊

That was beautiful. I appreciated the fact that you gave us a peek into your faith and the way you choose to incorporate your practice of prayer and Bible study into your morning. I’m grateful that you chose to go out of your comfort zone to include that private moment in this video. Thank you for not leaving that part out. I’d enjoy seeing a night time routine as well since you seem to include some prep the evening before for the next morning. I think that’s key to removing some of the stress of rushing around in the morning. Have a blessed day. ❤

I also would love to see a nighttime routine!! My husband and I have begun giving more order to our lives by trying variations on a nighttime routine that we saw from The KZread Wheezy Waiter. He and his wife have these "Four R's" they use to structure their evening and it has been a really helpful first step for my husband and me. We figure we need to get the evening stuff down first, since it preps the morning, before we really build a morning routine. We both have ok-ish morning routines, if we get up in time. 😂 But we've noticed having a nighttime routine really helps set the stage for success in the morning.

Interesting to peer into your early morning routine, Jennifer. Uniquely yours, as you practice your faith, beliefs, and modes of self care. While not possible to be replicated exactly by viewers, what can be gained are new organizational techniques, disciplines, and ideals. Getting up before the rest of the family gives many benefits to a busy Mom or Dad caring for their children who aren't home schooled and need to get everyone out the door on time. A goal of enjoying a serene, joyful, and grateful home life is a beautiful one.

I know two women personally who did it without tutors and outside help. One had 6 kids and one had 2. They were stay at home moms. I imagine having your own business would also make it easier. ou just have to find a way that works for you. I don't know about homeschooling while working though. Never met anyone doing that although their may be someone.

Hi! Thank you for adding the part about reading the Bible and praying :) My morning routine as a married woman without kiddos is like this: 6:30-7am - wake up, get dressed for a dog walk, make coffee and bring it to my husband while he does his morning prayer time 7-7:30 - walk the dog while drinking my coffee which is my morning prayer time while enjoying nature 7:30-8am - get myself ready for the day, eat breakfast my husband made for us, prep lunches and head to work at 8am.

Hello Jennifer. I am curious about two things. 1) Since you wake up so early what time you go to bed? 2) Where is your husband, or what is he doing when you wake up, say prayers and meditate and then write journal in your bed? I wonder if you will reply to my questions, since I noticed that you do not read or respond to your viewers comments.

Adorable bookmark - I love kid-made treasure like that. When my littles pick a flower for me, sometimes I’ll press it, and then use packing tape to adhere it to a notecard, write the name and date of who picked it and when, trim it if needed, and add it to my bookmark stash. 😊

My morning routine resembles yours. Up at 5 am, I go to the sunroom and enjoy oolong or green tea first thing. I pray the Liturgy of the Hours, which is the prayer of the Church (I’m Catholic!) and I never cease to be thrilled knowing that all over the globe people are praying the Hours. I love the morning quiet! My children are grownup and gone and my husband sleeps to at least 6:15,so I have all that quiet time to myself. After prayer I will journal, review what’s up for the day, make coffee, and just sit and think. We are in the active phase of our retirement and are usually preparing or recovering from a trip! I love to just sit with my tea or coffee and review my life and be thankful for everyone I’ve loved and all the experiences I’ve lived in my 67 years.

Lovely routine! I’m usually getting ready for work and school dropoff, so my routine is to wake up at 5:30 am, make my bed, get dressed, brush my teeth, wash my face, apply skincare, apply a little makeup, and style my hair. Then I put on jewelry and grab my purse and work tote. By this time it’s around 6 am and I make a cup of coffee and enjoy that (also with cinnamon!). I wake my daughter at 6:30 am, help her get ready and get her breakfast, fill up our water bottles, then we’re out the door by 7 am for school dropoff and work. 😮‍💨

Yes so interesting to hear of different cultures habits! When I was a nanny in the city, I’d often run into mothers brushing their children’s teeth in public bathrooms and they’d say “we had breakfast here right before this play date stays, so we are only brushing our teeth now” ☺️ As an American we would not think to do that, but I enjoyed having the children see different ways people do things ☺️

Dear Jennifer, thank you for this video! You inspired me with your time organization for prayer, meditation, Bible reading, and journaling. I usually wake up around 5:30 and start my meditation practice at 6 and it lasts for 1 hour more or less, but in this case, I have little time left for reading and prayer because my boyfriend wakes up around 7:15 am. I felt inspired to re-organize this part of my morning routine after watching your video.

That was so encouraging ❤ if I have to get up before 7, I’m dead all day😂 as a homeschool mom myself, our mornings have always been a lot more hectic because I (tried to) do it all. With the exception of the homeschool academy of fine arts at our church, it’s always been intense. All I have left now is our last 2 daughters. (8 kids)

I started off motherhood (1 child) with a strict schedule. Then came the second child, that turned into a less strict routine. Then the third child came, which turned into no schedule and complete chaos. I continued living in chaos for 3 more years & finally took on my strict schedule again. Life feels easier when everyone knows what is expected of them and when! If you want to add a slight bit of richness to your coffee, add a small sliver of salted butter to your heavy cream and cinnamon, it gives the illusion that you’re drinking a snickerdoodle. It’s so good!

My morning starts about 6am, with a shower, getting dressed, bible reading and prayer, checking my planner, and bfast, usually with a KZread video. It's just my husband and myself, and he is usually gone in the morning before I get up. Once I'm done bfast, I'm off to work-babysitting my granddaughter. In all my mornings take about 2 hours. I should incorporate exercise, and I'm thinking of getting a rebounder to motivate me.

I just have never found it easy to wake up. My kids are swimmers so some mornings all 4 are awake at 4:30 so we can leave the house around 5 to get to the pool. Gone are the quiet alone-time mornings I once enjoyed 😅. Had I known swimming was so intense maybe I would have steered them in a different direction!

Your peaceful entrance into the day is so inspiring. I love that you mentioned some adjustments and differences you have encountered over the seasons of mothering. It sounds like your lines have fallen in pleasant places. My desire is to be up before the smallest child, who is the earliest riser, but that doesn't always happen. The quietness accompanies me for the most part as I go about praying, reading and drinking coffee followed by a morning walk and weight lifting. It's a challenge for me to be still when people are around so that first hour is a blessing if all are sleeping. My husband makes my coffee most mornings and sometimes he likes running ideas over with me before the start of his work day. How does Ben interact with you in your morning routine?

I just ordered cinnamon extract for my coffee… I used to do that when I got tired of the grounds and it has more flavor, but haven’t done it in a while! This time of year, it sounds so good. 😊 My morning routine is just coffee, Bible, and then making sure I’m caught up on checking the kids’ math and writing… stopping to enjoy the birds and deer here and there. After the kids stroll in and get started on breakfast, I’ll sneak away to get dressed and make my bed, watch your video if it’s there (so calming and grounding!) and I’m ready to start our day with morning chores and Together Time before the rest of homeschooling takes place. 💛 I definitely need to add in exercise and more water!

You remind me so much of my mother. She is the most disciplined and accomplished woman I know. I strive to be like her because I am naturally more like my father, a go with the flow type but I feel so much better when I hold myself to routines and discipline. I love your content Jennifer. Thank you.

Wow. I am always racing and rushing from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. I’m working with laser focus to get everything done and in its place and at the ready for the next day. No time to chit chat or read. I listen to podcasts while I work and sometimes leave a message like this. Wow. Happy for you. Maybe someday, I can do this.

I mean, she has two private tutors who take probably five hours of work off her hands a day (I'm guessing, going off of how long it takes me to homeschool four kids). I don't think her morning routine is reflective of many mother's realities.

i agree. but i think she has changed her own perspective on this. because before she used to do it all. im all for normalizing aspects of life that can be outsourced and wished she would share more about it-like why she decided now, as opposed to when kids were young, cost, what’s most useful, etc. for example, after regularly watching her vidoes it appears she has now "outsourced" cleaning (she has mentioned she has cleansers come in regularly, but still does a lot herself), cooking (meal service trays, as well as meal kits to supplement daily cooking), grocery shopping/delivery, and now homeschooling (tutors) . It allows her to work (write and KZread), thus generating more income that can be used on these services. Personally I wouldn’t mind cooking and cleaning services! @@hannaht4683

@@hannaht4683yes and no. It’s the 5 am wake-up that I think does the trick. My kids don’t get up before 8 but I am up at 6:30. I do much of what she does during her mornings and if I wanted to do more, I’d get up earlier (I don’t 😂). Sometimes I choose a slow, quiet breakfast during that time, other days I share that time with my kids which makes it neither slow nor quiet haha! But great in its own way! Then on to homeschool.

I got a delightful surprise when I saw your calendar and realised it was Australian. It had holidays for the area I live in on it! I also say a prayer as I wake, giving my day to God and then after a one hour walk, I do Bible study and devotional. I totally respect individual ways of meditating or listening to God but know that if I do not have that time, then my day can easily unravel. It centers me and usually gives a word of wisdom or focus for my day. I am enjoying everyone else's comments about their mornings too.

Jennifer, I think it is time I re-read the Madam Chic Series! I really appreciate this little peak into your morning routine. And the peak into your Prayer and Scripture time. My husband and I are doing more praying to figure out where to fit that into our day more/ better. It's so important! I have derived so much education from your books since I read the first one in 2015. I've lost count how many times I've read them! When we finally got a different house in 2021, I even christened my Living Room bookshelves with the Madam Chic whole boxed set.❤ I've learned so much from you!!

I'll have to go back and re-read your book. I'm up at 5:00 a.m., but my Granddaughter needs to be out the door by 7:00 a.m. for the school bus, so I spend time making sure she's ready. I'm trying to start the day by reading my Bible, but having trouble concentrating since I don't know the best place to start. On another subject, I just watched your Blue zone recipe video and would like to see more of those. I printed a couple of them out, so thank you.

I love this video and took a few notes to help with my morning structure. Here's a question on your planner and to-do list: How do you compile your written lists of phone calls, emails, shopping and errands, etc. in your planner? I often write the night before on a lined paper, but I am forever rewriting and it looks a bit messy and as I think of it, I may have a call to make at the top of my list and later on, down the list I've thought of another person I need to call, and it gets a bit jumbled. I would love some detailed tips on this. Thank you. Looking forward to your evening routine and the one where your morning varies when your children go to campus. Also, when you mentioned publishing your video before your coffee and exercise, that time frame seemed relatively short. So, I wasn't sure if that was when you were also producing them. Thank you.

I absolutely love the idea of early mornings. I’m Muslim and we have a dawn prayer which starts around 4 but time shifts according to sunrise timings. I’ve been asking God to give me the strength to wake up for the prayer and start my day. So far I’m a lot better but still want to improve it as I usually have a nap after the prayer which I want to eliminate.
