My 2024 reading so far - romance, true crime, memoir, and more…

Please give book recommendations in the comments, and check out what’s already on my reading list here: bookshop.org/shop/glutenbergb...
Every month my goal is to read just two books. I like to set a nice, achievable goal, so that I can feel satisfied if I don't read a lot and extra proud if (like in February) I exceed the goal!
I’m really happy with how my 2024 reading is going so far, not because of the quantity of books I’ve read but because of the range of genres and subjects. One of the results for me of being burnt out on reading has been that when I do read for pleasure, I either reread old favorites or default to romance novels. I’m making in effort in 2024 to read more memoir and nonfiction, and different genres and time periods overall.
I’m looking forward to the year of reading ahead, and to chatting about books with people here!

Such a lovely video! I’m also a phd student and romance novels are often the only thing that keep me sane (and then make me slightly sad as a chronically single woman 😅). I’ve never heard about Salt and Broom but definitely want to pick it up now. Thank you! Have you read Jane Steele? I haven’t read it yet but it’s a Jane Eyre retelling that I really want to read. Romance wise I really enjoyed Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore and Kate Clayborn writes great contemporary romances. I adore Love Lettering by her.
