    Girl, I'm honestly a person that never comments in anything in the internet, but I really love this video (and all of the others for the matter) ❤ i think there's something so pretty and tender in someone sharing a piece of their mind in a tactile way in this digital age. - Its really what I needed for because my friends got me to teach them all I know about zines -very little haha- and I learn all that from you, so thank you💖

    Your August zine kinda reminds me of the friendship I just ended.It wasn't as bad as what you went through, but the way it was- co-dependant, the other person being a negative person, starting as mutually benefitting and then it just was causing me more grief than joy, and I know she was going through some stuff but she has also outright told me more than once that sometimes she likes causing drama when she's bored so really how much of her perspective was reliable (she's still in high school so she's definetely gonna be immature, and the reason we became friends was through the internet, being part of one fandom, ect), and I was getting tired of her constantly needing me to make her happy, and even though she told me to share my feelings with her I didn't want to tell her it was her that was tiring me, and I just told her i needed a break and we haven't spoken since. I am not proud of it at all, but at the time I just wanted to be free of all the negativity, and I don't dare try become friends with her again because I'm scared to repeat the cycle. She texted me one more time after I said I need a break, but deleted it, not before I saw it, and even though it was all 'let me be there for you' it made me mad because I just wanted to be left alone, and that was when I made my first ever actual perzine, then i followed it with a lyric book too to vent about it all. I realise I've probably said too much but yeah, your august zine really reminds me of all that (not in a bad way)- and also it's thanks to you that I even thought to put my ugly, shameful feelings into something beautiful that I'm now proud of :3

    I’m sorry you went through that, it sounds like it was hard decision to cut that person off but I can totally relate. On one hand you feel bad for them, but on the other you know it’s hurting you and you need to do what’s best for yourself in the end. Sometimes people take advantage of their mental health problems and use that as a reason to depend too heavily on others and it’s not fair at all to “keep setting yourself on fire to keep others warm” as the saying goes. I’m glad to hear you were able to use that experience to make a zine! Zines are so therapeutic in that way and can help you see a situation more clearly. Thank you for sharing, it made me feel a little less alone. It’s such a tricky topic but in the end you made the right choice by choosing yourself over the negativity. Sometimes people need to figure things out with you in their life, and that’s ok!!

    This video was very soothing and fun to watch! I'm sorry you had to experience that level of breakup, I'm 35 and although I'm alternative in my interests and hobbies, my expectations for behavior from others my age is set high. There is so much unchecked trauma and emotional immaturity I see in these alt/punk spaces and we really don't have time for that!! Good on you for advocating for yourself fr. I hope your tough times level out tho so you can further thrive in your art in 2024. I also thank you for advocating for Palestine at the end and refreshing everyone on what zines were originally made for ✊🏼 Feeling super inspired to make a monthly zine as a resolution for myself next year now 👀 Thanks for your content this year and have a wonderful new year! 💜✨️

    Yayyy I love this! I love seeing people gather the art that they are proud of and talk about it. Your zines are so inspiring! I started making some zines in Septemberish. I have made three finished zines and four unfinished ones (oops) because writing can be scary and hard for me. I've been unmotivated to draw and papercraft lately, but making mini zines helps! Thank you for opening my eyes to this scene that I previously didn't know about hahaha

    ahh i finally finished this video! thank you so much for taking my suggestion i think you turned it into such a great video, and i especially appreciate you taking the opportunity to acknowledge palestine and shoutout fellow marginalized voices at the end. in 2024 i really wanna make more per zines and put my heart into it, bc in 2023 ive mostly been working on collaborative fanzines and that's fun for sure but it's a lot of writing and coordinating and what got me into zines to begin with was getting to share a piece of myself and my art. in the coming year im trying to get back to that. your videos have definitely inspired me this year, not just to make what i want to make to the best of my ability but to know when to take a needed break. i hope you have a happy holiday season/new year bre :)

    Hi Bre, another comment after watching the entirety of the video (I have adhd so I can never just watch something in one sitting lol) and trying to process my thoughts. I'm very sorry for the abuse you went through and the effects it had on you. I however noticed that you use the words "narcissistic abuse" in your zines and I've debated if I wanted to say something about it. You see, I really suffer from activist burn out lately as a disabled person living in a pandemic, and having to live through the white supremacy and imperialism towards 🍉. I felt really triggered by some parts of your video and like I needed to stop following your content in its entirety but after some thinking, I feel a hope that maybe you would be open to reflect on some language you use and learn and grow. I understand that you need to make sense of the abuse you endured (I, too, went through this process after abusive relationship dynamics) but I also know you're also a neurodivergent (a fellow autistic I think), and using terms like narcissistic abuse really sets the neurodiversity movement back: as it entails liberation for all forms of neurodivergence & all our liberations are connected to one another. This also means our NPD siblings. Sadly, cluster b "personality disorders" are very, very, very stigmatised. I have BPD myself and felt the brunt of this, and it makes you hate yourself so bad. For NPD, this is even worse. The term N abuse has become somewhat of a pop cultural thing and it exacerbates the stigmatization and demonization of people (diagnosed) with narcissistic personality 'disorder', worsening the sanism and ableism that already exists in our societies. Not everyone with NPD is abusive, a lot of them aren't, and they are often people who went through intense abuse themselves, and then are continued to be abused by society. Equating abuse to "narcissism" is very harmful. I wish people would just say "abuse", abuse is just abuse and we can all be abusive (not diminishing your or anyone's experience of abuse, but merely saying that we should stop attaching discriminatory labels to it and unpack our collective saneism that is also rampant among the autistic and adhd population).

  • @brattyxbre

    @brattyxbre

    5 ай бұрын

    Understandable, I wish you all the best! I believe in doing what’s best for you ❤️ I reference NPD from the point of view and professionalism of my trauma therapist who knows more details about my life than I’d like to share online. I will say that a variety of (diagnosed) personality disorders runs in my family, so she was tracing back how I am drawn to familiar people when I date. She explained to me that she could not diagnose my ex with NPD (not her patient), but based on my family history and what I experienced and saw in him, it was very possible. That’s why I list the “N abuse traits” bc NPD pertains to my life and is very relevant to me…even before dating that person. I see how this can be harmful with the pop culture stuff, however I simply wasn’t aware of the trends. I am speaking from what I live through, nothing more nothing less. As for the term N abuse, I understand that! Maybe I’m not using a proper term - my therapist used it to acknowledge what some people with the disorder tend to do, which is not mutually exclusive! As in, not all NPD will exhibit the same behavior. So while some ppl definitely should just say “abuse”, my history is a bit different as the abuse is consistently coming from those with diagnosed NPD and BPD (doing treatment/DBT) and it’s something I’m trying to work on every day with my family. I say in the zine SO MANY TIMES that I am not demonizing anyone, just sharing my side as best I can because no matter what someone struggles with…when they behave in a way that hurts others I think there should always be an acknowledgment of that. I know you can’t possibly know the entire zine, or my life for that matter, just from a clip on KZread. And it’s also understandable that you assumed I knew nothing of NPD and that’s fair. I’m a stranger on the internet. How would you know? In the end, I do agree I could be more mindful of the language I use regarding NPD, etc because they do need honest help and understanding from folks who care about them. At the end of the day it is something that can be improved upon if those want the help ❤️ Thanks for sharing your thoughts - I really do hope you enjoy the rest of 2023 and keep finding interest in zines! X
