Hi Bre, I loved your zinefest. I ordered a goodie bag and can’t wait to get it. No pressure though. I understand things take time and we are on opposite sides of the country. I’m glad you listen to gut instinct about safety. I learned about zines this year and am obsessed. I love the freedom to create whatever you want it to be. I even make zines for my own positive energy that I can read over when I need a boost. I used to make junk journals but love the smaller size of zines. I’d love to send you a zine when I get one done that I’m okay with sharing. I’m not looking for an income but to make the world a happier place. (Nothing negative about making an income) . This is fantastic! I'm neurodivergent too! Autistic, anxious, Adhd, and some other neurospices 😂 I really appreciate this tour of what to expect before entering a new type of environment. Even if its not in a big group zine fest space. Maybe especially bc its a smaller space intro, actually. Like a friend telling me what to expect one on one. Sometimes even videos of crowded spaces are a lot 🤷🏼‍♀️ Im excited to play with zines as an outlet for merging my collage, poetry, prose, and drawing! I just realized this was my first zine fest!! Now I really want the goodie bag to celebrate that. I don't know if there are any upcoming zine fests here in Montreal, but there are awesome zine-making nights I plan on attending :)

I just found out yesterday I made it into the Milwaukee zine fest! It will be my first time tabling one. I haven’t made a zine yet but I have a lot of ideas and have been researching. Now to make it all a physical reality! I’m excited!

i had a great time with your zine fest! as usual the video was fun, engaging, and inspired me to work on my zines. i also have to appreciate that you got me thinking about going to more zine fests (and events in general). i struggle with anxiety too, and especially in the wake of the pandemic i've had bouts where i could barely leave the house. getting better now, but sometimes i forget how much joy it can bring me to go to fests and get involved and all that. it can be stressful sometimes too, but more often than not it's worth the fuss and i think i needed this reminder of that. i'm gonna see if i can grab a goodie bag, and i hope you have a good weekend :)

as an organiser of auckland zinefest, I really liked hearing your views of sharing/marketing locations in terms of safety! I never considered that! also, love the at-home zinefest! its hard to be in big crowds and be constantly talking at zine markets so nice to see you speak about it! general social anxiety is a big struggle in the zine scene!

Thanks so much for watching, I’m glad fellow zine makers can relate to the anxiety associated with these fests! I think most of my anxiety comes from lack of safety but also as a neurodivergent person, the constant chit chat and noise and bright lights can take a toll on me too 😭

I love that you are prioritizing your safety above everything else. Do only what makes you comfortable. And please don’t listen to the ones that might make you feel crazy for your views. They are valid. My niece has been missing since March 2022. She is a victim of human trafficking and she likely made herself a target by posting exactly where she was on her social media.

This was such a brilliant and wonderful idea. You should make it a regular thing and have other zinesters “attend” virtually. I wanted to share that I made buttons that say Let’s trade zines in case people are too shy to ask.

I've been wanting to make zines for months, but today I finally started to experiment with folding paper and started glueing!! I am so glad you make videos all about zines, your energy is so silly and happy :•) I was wondering what the price range is for zines, especially the more "homemade" ones compared to having print shop access and higher budget zines + how many prints you should bring to zine fests! I sadly couldn't find anything online so far, so I'd be very grateful for a reply ⭐💙

So say it cost you $2 to produce/print your zine then you’d charge $4 to make Your money back + profit. However, I personally like to factor in time + effort it took to create as well. Your art is valuable but that value is up to you to determine!! Have fun with it 💞💞🙌🏽

I went to a local zine club last month that I’ve been trying to get to for a while….. I was excited and brought some of my first zines to trade. I left disgusted about the zine “scene” in my city and how it’s just about selling zines to each other. Nobody had any zines to trade, it was just a LGBTQ+ gossip space. The same group is holding the same type of event you are talking about. I don’t have enough disposable income for this these type of events. Thank you so much for your channel. No one was trading?! Thats… so unheard of in the zine community. And I’m a little disappointed to hear that zines have strayed so far away from its true essence of accessibility in that scene. I’m sorry that was your experience! I understand people wanting to be compensated for their work, but I always try to keep certain zines available for trading/give away for free!! I hope you’re able to find some other zine clubs and fests to be part of that are more inclusive. I understand what it feels like to not see yourself reflected in these communities, so just letting you know you are NOT alone!
