MY $100 MONTHLY GROCERY HAUL

Ойын-сауық

I spend about $100 per month on groceries. Everyone has been requesting this video, so here it is. Although I will admit, I think food haul videos are extremely boring. But you asked for it!

Here in Finland the fruits are expensive, but I use berries instead. The berries are free as I pick them from the woods and freeze them. This autumn I started to learn how to pick safe mushrooms and cook them. I like your videos a lot and learn from them though the inexpensive products varies between our countries. Thank You!

So, I'm retired and get just under 20K Social Security. It's not too bad cause I own my own home so I just have to cover upkeep and taxes. I qualified for snap benefits, but it was just $15.00 a month. I used to just save it up all year and spend it all at once in December so it paid one grocery bill. This year, because of covid they increased it to $180.00 a month! So I've been stocking up my pantry big time.

You are a woman after my own heart. I give myself a food budget of $150 a month, including my cat's food, litter, and toiletries, etc... My situation is different. I'm trying to get out of debt. It's not astronomical but it's a lot of debt to me. I rent, which I was lucky to find a rent that is below a third of my income. I have three grown children, their spouses, 7 grandchildren and I'm quite proud that I was able to do something for each on my budget of $250 for Christmas all together. That includes the meal and baking. My grandchildren like to bake with Grandma. I have a 2 bedroom apartment that's rather a good size and when or if I shop for something for my home or myself I never buy brand new but you'd never know it. I won't purchase anything without really seeing what's out there. For instance my couch, which is practically new, only costed me $50 because the lady was moving and didn't want to take it with her. Every month around the 21st I do my budget for the coming month. My bills have come in by then and I know what monetary I need to put out. I found ways to bring my electric bill down by $100. Water and sewage is included in my rent. But I love to cook and have set up my small but efficient kitchen for it slowly over the years I've lived here. When I go grocery shopping, my family will say " But Mom, you didn't get ANYTHING" lol .

Ultimately, your videos are helping me with living a better quality of life in the long run. So thanks ❤️

I got rid of one fridge, my storage room holds cat food and paper goods, and I don't buy nearly as much food now....but still too much probably. I need to tighten my shopping list. I don't think I could shop once a month. I shop every week because of fresh produce, but I need to buy less each week. This video was very motivating.

I was able to get a ten lb chub of ground me for 19.00 - so I made up chili. I will eat the chili for any meal with a small amount of onion and cheese. Then I will take tortillas I bought on clearance and froze...unfreeze them, fill with cheese & onion and pour chili over it and I have baked enchilada. I take chili and add to homemade queso/cheese dip to make it heartier and have nachos with that one meal with a side of sliced avocado. Obviously I can add pasta, tomato sauce and some chili and have chili Mac. Pour it over noodles or rice in a pinch. So that 19.00 of ground meat turned into chili makes me plenty of winter warming meals...I’m trying to only use as little heat as possible and layering my clothes, extra blankets on the bed. Wool socks over my thin socks helps too at night in bed.

a Another way to save is grow your own vegies. Potatoes are easy. I grow lettuce, Tomatoes from seeds I save etc. It gets pretty hot here in Australia but they grow well. Also a tip for flour I saw on a preppers video is to separate in to individual bags so if some gets infested you don't ruin the whole stock. Love that you feed your dog so well with good healthy food.

It is lovely be the one who decides exactly what groceries are bought and what kinds of meals are made. I remember those days. It is not so lovely to go shopping with a family member and have to make compromises on every shopping aisle so that both of us get some of what each prefers. With self-quarantine we are now mostly eating homemade meals instead of occasionally dining out where each orders what he or she prefers, so the food choices we now make for homemade meals have taken on a larger importance than before. I would be buying a lot less cookies, luncheon meat, eggs, bacon and K-cups and a lot more fresh or frozen non-starchy veggies and salad greens if I was just buying food for myself.

I'm just buying muffin mix and making a loaf and cutting it to seven pieces to stretch out the entire week that is awesome. Trying to learn how to stretch things out as well. Every time I go to the store and buy two bags of beans and a couple of cans of vegetables in a couple cans of beans. Just add to my Long Haul prepper pantry. Okay that mocha cold coffee mix looks really good my eyes targeted that when you were showing your pantry hahahahaha I am a coffee holic how to say LOL but I don't think I've seen that in my local area here in Central Texas. I don't have to like really look into that maybe my local HEB might have it? That is a great idea and I am trying to cut off lunch myself. I'm trying to reduce my eating because I had issues with quantity and I guess you would call it a food disorder but I'm getting better praise God every time but it's hard for me. So that to me is what I'm really trying to focus more on 2021 is to reduce my intake and being smarter and healthier about it. @@brettcramer6044 I was gonna say the same thing! I cannot stand fast food, & if you're traveling & don't have anything made ahead of time, it's hard to choose among the crappy places to eat! Mickey D's is a flat NO bc I got food poisoning yrs ago & never forgave them. Taco Bell is a disaster waiting to happen. Burger King & Hardees are glorified McDonalds, & KFC isn't a great choice, to me, bc of the oil that's used over & over again for the chicken. So, we try to find a Chick-Fil-A - the plain, grilled chicken sandwich is hard to screw up; however, they stopped making the cole slaw!!! I'm just seeing this now! Excellent haul and very informative. Something to try might be watering down your whole milk to stretch it further. We buy 1ltr UHT Whole Milk, decant it into 3 bottles and leave 1/4 of the milk in the carton. We freeze 3 and top the rest of the bottles up with water to a 50% dilution. This makes 1ltr stretch to about 9 days with repeat consumption through every day. It's an excellent saving and it tastes like semi-skimmed! Xx

😎 You can grow any kinds of dry beans, popcorn and raw sunflower seeds. Try any seeds from among the herbs and spices. Save seeds of tomatos, peppers, winter squashes, cantaloupes and melons. Look up how to save tomato seeds, there is a process. 😎 Properly dried and properly stored seeds will last years, YES YEARS. So do not disregard any older seeds you might have around the house, plant them asap next season. No need to overcrowd them, just to thin them out later. Give older seeds additional time to sprout, because they can be a bit slower. Patience. 😎 Place seeds in labeled sturdy freezer ziploc bags, and those in a hard, sturdy, humidity proof, bug proof, rodent proof container, keep in a cool or cold, dry and dark location.

With a sensitive stomach, my diet is very limited. At times, I may have to stop eating certain foods for a length of time. I also have to limit amounts of certain foods. From midnight until noon, I fast. Fasting is a healthy detox. I drink only water. I eat creamy oatmeal twice a day to coat my stomach. It is very soothing. It is made with a lot of water and cooked about 20 minutes until creamy. No milk or sugar. Just plain. For supper, I eat half an apple buckwheat pancake. The other half is stored in the fridge. I eat it cold. No syrup. One large pancake requires one organic or grass-fed egg. Buckwheat is very alkaline. I also eat half an open-faced wild tuna sandwich made with Ezekiel bread. Ezekiel is made from sprouts and found in the freezer section. Fish is anti-inflammatory. Occasional kinds of lettuce, anti-flammatory cheese and orange slices. By eating slices of an orange, an orange will last a few days. Less sugar. I also eat half a teaspoon of plain yogurt twice daily for gut flora. It made a tremendous difference with my sensitive stomach. I'm 65, weigh 110 pounds, perfect health, no meds. It may be boring, but it works. In other words: bread, oatmeal, buckwheat pancake mix, eggs, tuna, cheese, yogurt, lettuce, apples and oranges. No spices, coffee, liquor, processed or canned foods - all of which can be very stomach-irritating.

I usually have them for breakfast when I want to change it up from eating eggs or whatever. To do in a loaf pan, I usually use two of the packets because one doesn't quite make enough to fill up a loaf pan. At .99 per packet, that's only about $2 a loaf for a week's worth of breakfast. I love the neat and organized pantry behind you at the beginning. We have ours just like that and even label the shelves.

Love this video! Thank you! I am gluten sensitive and have decided to stop buying expensive gluten free products. I can make my own.

Fair life milk has a much longer expiration date than regular milk & it's lactose free. I love whole milk in my tea, but it going bad on me. Not any more! Walmart has frozen shrimp for $5 a bag. Tuna in a pouch will last 5 years. tfs

Great haul! Nice to see a food haul that is within a reasonable amount of money and doesn't only include rice and beans. You have a nice variety of all the food categories! Hugs to Rocky from NJ :-)

I just watched this today and enjoyed it . I think you were very honest. I just bought groceries for my husband and I for the month today. I got a pound of shrimp for kabobs two evenings, 3 pounds of chicken thighs, I country style ribs, and two pounds of ground beef. That along with tuna and vegetarian pasta meals will be plenty of meet. I spent $118.27 at Winco in Texas with money leftover for milk, cottage cheese, and fresh veggies and bread for later in the month. Good job.

I agree with your opening comment. Food hauls? Who cares? Now, what would be interesting would be to see someone compare this shopping to last week, last month, last year, etc. It would be interesting to see how prices have changed over time and crisis. I'm not that analytical, but I would watch something like that. Thanks for posting.

Your cubbard is soooo organized. It motivates me to do the same. Glad to see that you are an animal lover like me. I have two ferral cats.
