My 1 year starter locs journey has been very interesting, It's been so healing. I've had some bad days but some really good days, especially after a good old retwist. My locs have taught me so much about myself, they've helped me rediscover parts of myself I never knew I had. The confidence, the belief & perseverance. I started my short starter locs with comb coils. As you can see because I started my locs with short hair, I've seen major growth the past year and I'm excited to see how my locs will grow when I get to 2 years. My short starter loc journey has definitely taught me a lot of patience, I've enjoyed documenting everything through this loc journey. I hope you enjoy this summary of my 1 year being loc'd and I hope it encourages you to either start your loc journey or continue at whatever stage you're in. Whether you've just loc'd your hair, whether yours has just started budding, whether you also have 4b and 4c hair like me... I hope it provides you with inspiration to start your own and to stick it through.

😍 watching your journey made me want to keep mine, I got my starter locs a month ago and I’m not too comfortable without a wig on..but I want this soo bad!!!!

You’ve got this! The thing is, I feel like it’s easier for women with starter locs. Cos you can put a headwrap on when you’re not feeling like wearing your locs out. In fact I’ll make a video on this week on how I wore my locs out without a wig. Hope it helps you too ❤️

I’ve been binging on a lot of short hair loc videos. Everyone, including you, has given me hope! 😂 I’m 7.5 months post big chop and I started my 2nd set of locs last week. They are waaaay shorter than yours. Again, I have hope 😂 your hair is so beautiful. I’m loving your month 7! It’s something about month 7 with Locs 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Aww thank you so much lovely. Yayyy! You’re doing it just right. To be honest I wish I had started around the same time as you when I think about it now. Months 7-9 were my best months, the length, the fluffiness, it was so cute. Hope you’re enjoying the journey so far. Since it’s your 2nd set, I’m sure you’ll use everything you learned from the first set. I’ve been winging it 😂 ❤️

I'm trying to loc my hair but I have straight hair so it unravels alot and I have to retwist them . How can I get pass it should I have tried the coil method?

The coil method works better if you have kinky curly hair. If your hair is straight I would suggest starting with crochet to stop it unravelling. Perhaps crochet the ones that are unravelling. Hope this helps 🙏🏾😊

It’s dependant on hair density, texture, size & thicknesses & method one starts their locs. Mine started budding within 4 months & at that point was no longer unraveling

Awww thank you ❤️❤️. I just used a oil mix I made at home & let my hair do it’s thing really. I’ll make a detailed video on how I made the oil mix soon. Girl I understand 😭, our hair grows in it’s own way, in its own time. I would say just enjoy the journey regardless, your hair is just as beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
