    Have you noticed what position your idler is in? According to billetflow with my 3 100mm and 1 92mm I should still be on the same belt as you with a 3.0 upper pulley. It was a tight fit and the tensioner is past the 2 square mark. I’m wondering how yours is

    Sorry if this a dumb question but I can't seem to find an answer or really word this right to search for one.. But what is the purpose of the extra pulley installed? What exactly does it do? Wrap the belt around the superchager pulley tighter? More boost gain? Thank you in advance! Also finally got my first Cobra, my first manual, my dream car! 🐍

  • @Lethal_Venom

    @Lethal_Venom

    Congrats on getting one. These cars can be awesome but also need a little upkeep if it’s a driver as they get older. As far as the snub idler pulley that’s exactly what it does. When you drop the size of the supercharger pulley it will create more boost but also less surface area for the belt to grip to which can cause belt slip. The snub idler pulley helps to create more belt wrap around the supercharger pulley preventing belt slip.

  • @fatkat311
    @fatkat3113 жыл бұрын

    You may have covered this in the video but did you need the other pulleys? could you get by with only the smaller supercharger pulley

  • @Lethal_Venom

    @Lethal_Venom

    3 жыл бұрын

    You should at least run the snub idler, you will probably get belt slip without it with going as small as a 2.76. I did the rest of the idlers because I did not have much faith with spinning the stock idlers faster with the smaller supercharger pulley because they are prone to explode at that point.

    Yeah can't wait. My dyno appt is Tuesday, weather permitting. I went ahead and drained the coolant from the radiator when I did the heat exchanger yesterday as well. Pretty sure it was the same coolant that was in it when it left the Ford plant. Stripped out the plastic drain plug doing it but managed to get it closed again. Had to let it idle a long time with the cap off to get it burped and a good bit of coolant came out the tank and probably down on the alternator. Hope it doesn't fry it down the road. Not sure if it's right but the heat exchanger and radiator only took about a gallon and a 1/4 of the 2nd one to fill both. I didn't flush the system, just drained and filled. Did your idlers come with allen head hex bolts? All mine did as well as the bracket. Guessing I could reuse the stock bolts? I bought some blue threadlocker too.

    Mr lethal. I recently bought a 04 cobra terminator engine with low mileage .I own an 01 bullitt I bought that cobra engine for that car . My mechanic wants 6,000 plus parts to drop it in but he wants to tear it down to see if the engine is in good condition before he put in the bullitt . I do mechanic work but my skills are limited this work seems to beyond my skills set . I have all the wires and harness but the bullitt has the same harnesses very similar stuff in the engine bay. Do you think I should tackle this myself I feel capable . What would be the chances of me fucking it up I have the engine hoist have u done anything this big before

  • @Lethal_Venom

    I have not done an engine swap before so I can’t give any insight on that. These are very strong engines so unless it was raced hard or did not have a good tune if it was not tuned at all then the chances of it having issues are low. I would do a compression / leak down test on it if you where concerned at all but I do not see any real reason to tear it down. Just seems like he wants more money out of the job. I do know that as far as replacing the engine it’s easier to do it from the bottom and drop the K member out vs trying to pull it out from the top.

    You need a tune after installing this pulleys? Thanks in advance

  • @Lethal_Venom

    @Lethal_Venom

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, anytime you change the amount of available boost it will need to be tuned for it. The car can be driven prior to having the tune done ( such as taking it to be dyno) as long as you are not getting into boost. If you have a smaller pulley and it’s not yet tuned and you get into boost bad things will happen. I drove mine 2 hrs to get dyno tuned ( not getting into boost) and everything was fine.
