    Great video, I enjoy the step by step and it’s easy to understand. I do have one suggestion though. Maybe this applies to only 94-97 NA’s or all but by installing the 10:10 spring tensioner fully outside of that pin it seems to do a better job locating itself where it won’t pop out. So instead of hooking the spring tensioner over the tapered finger of the steel slides keep the spring tensioner fully outboard of the finger. This also has the added benefit of being able to install the spring tensioners as the final step before putting the wheel on making things like seating the caliper easier. Just a thought. Otherwise great video, it definitely helped me with the process, I wouldn’t have known about the Allen key and would have been struggling trying to squeeze the piston back in.

    A tip after trying this: when loosening allen key, it will stop turning when completely loose. To extract it, push it sideways while pulling out. If you keep turning, your Allen wrench might slightly strip the part and get stuck in it. This allows you to pull it out but damages the allen key.

    Amazing video! But can i ask you, once installed, when pulling the handbrake, isn’t it locking up the other wheel as well, so you are unable to spin the wheel you just installed the parts regardless if it’s tight or not since it’s rwd? Genuinely curious. Thanks a lot!

  • @MiataMods

    @MiataMods

    9 ай бұрын

    I get what you're saying but the diff will always let you spin the opposite wheel, it will never fully lock up when you have the car in the air, so it's fine to use this method to check if your handbrake is working correctly.

    Hello i just did a complete brake job, my rear brakes didn't have that "M clip", my brembo kit came with 2 for each caliper, i've put them on but after a little drive to test a bed the brakes it looks like i lost one and the other 3 came off...

  • @MiataMods

    @MiataMods

    5 күн бұрын

    The M clip is not mandatory, but it keeps the pads from unintentionally hitting the brake disk. If you've inserted them correctly into the holes of the brake pads, there's no way they should come off

    Thank you for posting this. It was helpful.On the car in the video there are two lines, the brake fluid and the hand brake going to the rear wheel. On my car, 1991 BRG there is a third line, seemingly electrical. It goes to something I think is a sensor. At the end of the axle where it goes to the wheel there is what looks like a gear, but isn't , the teeth are exposed and it's near the extra line. My guess it's perhaps a magnetic sensor to measure wheel rotation.The car used to have a limited slip differential. The sensor and the gear like thing is on both rear wheels. Is my guess correct or is this something else?
