For those that don't know, storm losing her powers is an from an amazing arc called "Lifedeath", and is literally the origin of her iconic mohawk hairstyle.

“They made me normal.” Honestly, losing your powers is terrifying and heartbreaking. Imagine being an athlete. You enjoy running and feeling the breeze. And then one day, you wake up and you can no longer do that. You cannot run or do anything physically strenuous. You can still live a life but you can no longer do things you are used to.

I don't even read the comics and know she will get her powers back because it's a classic trope that i love. Get someone really powerful and make them powerfweless, then you usually get a massive character development.

Lupa, you are 100% correct. Nathan Summers is Cable. Another version of the character in a different reality (AoA), Nate Grey, is X-Man (singular). In all realities, he is the son of Scott Summers.

Keep in mind that Rogue is pretty close to Magneto's age. She started as an old woman as a member of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants that tangled with the Avengers. She got de-aged and gained most of her other powers draining the shit out of Carol Danvers.

Rogue is *NOT* an old woman. She's always been quite a young character. She was never "de-aged". She was just drawn to be uglier back when she was a villain, and later redesigned when they decided to have Mystique leave her with the X-Men.

You were correct, Lupa! Nathan Summers a.k.a. Cable is the son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey from the future. It will be interesting to see his development if the show decides to utilize his character rather than his basis as being a full-grown adult who is from the future.

Seeing Storm like that definitely had me tears. Poor woman lost something that was apart her and basically had spiritual connection with the weather. After watching the OG series to catch up with this I’ve grown to love and respect Storm.

Storm losing her powers is a major point for her in the comics. It happened around this same time with Jean and the baby so Cyclops could leave and she led the team.

They really nailed the Malcolm X feel of Magneto in the second episode...his speech could apply to any persecuted group in the world...This is top tier Magneto and i love it !! Can't wait for the other episodes...Don't despair for Storm, there are way for her to get her power back depending on the story they do !!

This reminding us why magneto is one of the BEST written comic characters EVER

Roshi is right in that they are taking storm off the table for plot reasons, back in the day they usually abused her claustrophobia to do the same in stories where she would have been way too useful. They also seem to be adapting one of her best solo arcs though, to make up for the fact she won't be part of the team for a part of the season.

Lupa didn't actually spoil the cable thing btw. And you probably won't be seeing cable here, maybe. Because cable was actually in season 1 of the original, but he never tells them he's their kid, so what they're doing is a fun loop where you see his origin, and then to see his future you go watch season 1 lol. But who knows, maybe he'll "Return" in this series too.

This episode reminded me why Magneto is my favorite Marvel character of all time!

I feel like this show has so many things merging. Last episode when jean read the mind of the prisoner. The one struggling felt like it was legion, now we have cable, they also mentioned apocalypse. Two jeans, which gives me hint of mr. Sinister. I gotta go home and see if the next episode came out

They got the 90s dialogue down alright. One of the things I didn’t/don’t like about the X-Men (and believe me that’s a *very* small list) is how some of them think that they’re a different species all together. Yes I know mutants are an allegory for race, but the fact is they’re all human, all have feelings, families, all bleed and can create as well as destroy. One of the things I enjoy about X-Men is that they constantly try to teach that more connects us than saparates us, that our sameness outweighs outmatches and outnumbers our differences. That our core being and choise on how to live life is what matters. That we *all* can do something and be a bigger version of ourselves and help one another no matter what pained past, mistakes, or abilities we have and have not. So when Storm stormed out (ha, pun) because their “connection” was broken I called bs. Yes losing your powers is like losing your wings as demonstrated by Angel in multiple variations of X-men media, but it’s not what bonded you to others. Being alive, being and living did that.

What’s so ironic is they basically took out the Omega-Level Mutant the power house given what Storm did in the last episode of making quick work with the Sentinels.

Roshi on your point about Scott’s lasers, there also not just lasers. His eyes are actually confirmed to be portals to another dimension where those lasers come from. Theoretically, he can kill someone’s with those if he unleashed its full power. Basically Scott is as close to omega level as you can get without it being one
