One foot must be on the road for the traffic to stop.

It's all exactly the same now, except cars & buses WOULD now stop for you if you were waiting to cross at a zebra crossing ! The police box has gone though.

Just got it from youtube Adam. July Andrews in the first clip in Dukes avenue used to score for a south London cricket club. A neighbour of mine played when she scored. Must ask him again what club it was?

I think it originally came from a public archive, Haringey? and was posted ( as far as I can remember) without credit to its creator. I took the liberty of editing it all down to the most interesting Muswell Hill shots and set it to the Percy Faith soundtrack, which I thought was particularly apt. The original film shows a lot more of the surrounding areas including Crouch End.

No litter, no graffiti, people smartly dressed, a well ordered society but pedestrians not given priority at the zebra crossing.

Pedestrians knew their place back then, as did everyone else!
