My first car was a 67 Mustang. Always liked the Mustang brand, and I don’t car that they added a different model to the Mustang line. I ordered the MME GTPE last year and have been driving it daily since October 2021. It is amazing. The acceleration from the torque still puts a smile on my face every time. The smooth quiet ride and technology make it a great vehicle for commuting. And as Jay said, zero maintenance (other than tires). I never have to stop at a gas station to refuel. I just plug it in in the garage about 2x a week and charge while I sleep. To me it’s a great combination of performance, style, convenience, economy. And for all you gearheads, which I am, I also have a 68 Camaro convertible in the garage, just so you know I’m not an anti-ICE guy.

Appreciate how Jay was willing to describe things he didn't like, but did it in a kindly manner. E.g., the lack of a spare tire. The need to look down at the gearshift knob (and screen) rather than grabbing a big shifter. The cues to gas powered cars that don't make sense for electric (but are probably needed to coax folks to accept it). Re: the pointless front grille, one other possibility: the grille has always been a big part of the "face" of a car. Maybe even the most distinctive part. So, what happens if it only has "eyes," no "mouth"? Especially in these days when huge mouths are the fashion. Can they make that look good? An idea for the frunk: make a gas generator, or extra battery pack, that can drop into that space for long distance driving. True it would add a lot of weight and probably make a mess out of driving dynamics, but might be worth it if it increases range by at least 100 miles.

Really good review. I'm 55 and getting my first Mustang in a few months. It's the I.C.E. version of the GT. I'm not ready to jump on the E-revolution for a variety of reasons. While I don't really mind that Ford has an E-version of a Mustang, I'm confused of an SUV version, if that makes sense. While there's a lot of good to say about progress, there's also a lot to say about those things that people can make and feel. Gone will be the days of working on your own car. While I know that many people will gravitate to this new generation, I'm still liking when people say that their Mustang (or whatever ICE car they have) is 'built, not bought." Now, the car is plugged it into a computer/charger, hit the 'enter' button and complete an upgrade. I'm probably romanticizing too much. Thanks, Jay and Ford-guy.

@@ismaelcarrillo3956 I have two cars, both twenty + years old. My problem with some electric cars is that when the battery needs replacing - owners won't, because the cost of the new battery will be more than the car is worth - therefore what in the UK insurers would call a 'write-off'. If this proves to be true in the future, then electric cars will not last as long on the road as petrol / diesel cars. You could have a situation where in the lifetime of a petrol/ diesel car, two or three electric cars have to be made - therefore overall the total environmental issues caused per each electric car built could be more than per petrol/ diesel car. I may be proven wrong, but I don't like the way we are all being encouraged to dash headlong towards electric cars - after all this is what happened with diesel cars - and look how that turned out! I have nothing against electric cars, but believe we should still keep our eyes open on other alternatives - fuel cell, bio-fuel and hydrogen cars for example.

Very nice informative video, Jay. Thanks. BTW, you may have already implied it earlier in this video, but I suspect one of the reasons Ford chose to name it a Mustang was to also show Ford's commitment to the new EV. Quite possibly, if they named it anything else, many might have considered it more of a joke. Naming it a Mustang showed their followers that Ford is dead serious about their commitment to the technology and to this model in particular. And so it seems. Risky? Apparently not from Ford's perspective. At least not anymore. :) Thanks again. I'm awaiting delivery of my 2nd Mach E Gt which should arrive in 1 week.

These things retail for over $60,000.00 for a starting price and with the way this one is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to to $70,000.00. This may outsell normal Mustangs but it seems people don't keep them because you find used 2021 models for sale on Google for $70,000.00+. Most people don't usually sell/attempt to sell/trade in their normal vehicles that fast.

I don't have the need for an electric car, just not practical for my needs at the moment nor can I justify the initial expense. Will I eventually get an EV? Maybe, depends on how the market proceeds. As for the Mustang Mach-E, one might consider that Porsche was largely known for its two-door roadsters until it started coming out with crossovers some years back. I don't know they didn't just call it the Ford Mach E. Tesla's don't need a gearbox because their motor can spin to 18,000 revs, 20,000 for the Plaid. All the others don't rev as high so either lose top speed or acceleration depending on final drive ratio. Good looking SUV from the front and side, not so much from the rear. I'd prefer standard door handles that don't rely on power to work.

Saw my first one at a winery at the north end of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. It looked really good and was wearing Connecticut plates. Saw my second one at the Ford display at the Woodward Cruise event this year. I emphatically exclaimed that the United States is V8 country and that the V8 powers America on it's highways and bi-ways. - After thinking about this thing for a while, and hearing the current sales figures, this car will probably be a big go for Ford and the electric car segment. Time will tell. I will say, the experience of driving a reworked Mustang GT is like no other and puts a big smile on everyone in the car during those fun moments. Both are unique! G.

I like electric cars and their electromechanical superiority. Having said that, my biggest concerns are end of service life environmental impacts regarding battery material mining practices and disposal methods, coupled with the fact that this country's power generation and grid system is not up to the task of supporting the move to electric vehicles. We're putting the cart before the horse, if you'll pardon the pun. There's also the issues of the government having total control over your vehicle and car theft by hacking. So while I'm hopeful for this shift, I'm also pragmatically skeptical. But thank you Jay for always delivering a stellar presentation!
