@@r.b.8018 Yes caste system is biggest pblm in India, everyone wants to abolish reservation, if caste is the root cause for reservation, why there's no movement to abolish caste system? Everyone is Hindu, we worship same god, culture is same(with some changes depending on location) . Reservation are in only in job and education apart from that in sports, entertainment industry u get only few who are succeeded that can be counted with bare hands. Even in the entry stages in sports, entertainment industry etc they ask "which caste are u?" If he or she belongs to lower caste, they don't even let he/she go further , that's y u don't even know anyone in sports, entertainment industry etc who are from lower caste. All we need is social respect, banning caste system will provide that, later reservation can be given on the basis of Income.

@Aditi Tegwal well then discrimination is not one way upper against dalit either. Dalit vs non dalit is also reality as well as dalit against maha dalit. So this whole upper oppressing lower is a big fat media creation which is baseless as the dalit against non dalit occurs with equal frequency. So prejudice is not one sided so portraying it as one sided is ridiculous and portraying one side as innocent victims is ridiculous

  • @ramaswamyk3380

@Aditi Tegwal you know what, jogendra mandal was a politician who was dalit right then. If you say how many dalits in politics, then how many upper castes do you know in business or trade? By and large less. People tend to follow what their ancestors are doing and many of it is not necessarily discrimination. Most of the kings of the biggest empires were lower caste right whether chandragupta maurya or ashoka? When the lower castes themselves were rulers thousands of years ago, how on earth can they claim discrimination? Most of the politicians today are lower caste. And where does lack of facilities have to do with caste anyway? If an upper caste stays in a very backward place, do they get any special facilities? Just like you expect me to see things holistically, we also expect the same from you instead of pushing a victimhood narrative and portraying one side as dominant bad and the other as innocent oppressed. Just like you expect upper caste to treat lower caste right, others also expect lower caste to treat upper caste right. One has to acknowledge the flaws at their end also instead of always fingerpointing the other side even when the other side is not responsible for their own self inflicted issues

Well vedas rigveda gives definition of four varna, yajurveda mentions definition of chandal and nishadha which is proof of birth based varna system and discrimination, mahabharat has many stories about birth based varna system ( check what " sut" in sutputra karna means) , bhagwat Gita talks about paap yoni etc and says one must do work of varna he was born into no matter how bad he was at it, and never do work of other varna no matter how good he is at it, (bhagwatGita 18:47)....with this context all Gita is actually trying to implement birth based varna system and discrimination out of which caste system originated. So caste discrimination is a religious problem that needs to be addressed.

He left the country because the laws in the country compromised with talent, instead of honouring legitimate talent based on examinations.. and don't you listen when he mentioned that those who are still facing any discrimination in rural areas, must be considered in the individual based reservation system.. but then the same privilege cannot extend to a SC ST person in urban India who is the son of an IAS officer who also became IAS despite low marks in UPSC, just because of reservation.. or a urban taxi driver SC ST dad whose son is studying in a university.. different people are on different levels of privilege.. if you exclude the 3-4 major temples of the south, most of the other temples in Tamil Nadu especially in small towns, the pujaris don't get any good salary at all.. first of all the temples are under the hands of govt appointed beaurocrats, instead of setting them free.. just for example compare the income of an ISKCON pujari with the income of a small pujari of a govt controlled temple in south.. there is tremendous difference.. the TN govt submitted a report to TN High Court stating that 11000 temples in the state have only 1 person taking care each, and he does the job of a pujari, of a cleaner as well as security guard.. and the DMK and AIADMK goons just simply brush white paint on the intricate ancient carvings.. and about 12000 other temples in TN are lying down in ruins now.. no one taking care of them.. temples should not be under state control.. or else take mosques and churches also under state control if u have guts.. when all these atrocities against Brahmins and the non-SC STs are being unleased by the inconsiderate govt, that was the time Rajiv Malhotra decided to leave the country.. that was a time when due to shitty policies in India, a lot of honest talent ran away to the US.

The white man is the one that invented the caste system. The British held a conference of churches in Madras in the 1870s where they mentioned that the jatis were the major obstacle in conversions to Christianity. Lord Herbert Risley then created a hierarchy of jatis and divided them into so called castes by birth. This did not exist before. Next the British forced all people to select one of these castes to satisfy the census beginning 1880s. Thus everyone began confirming to castes to meet census requirements. Did the Rajputs invent the Rajput regiment? No, it was the British. Did the Sikhs invent the Jat regiment? No. it was the British. 60% of all kings in India were Shudras. They were also 60 to 80% of students and teachers in the Indian education system.

Nice word play. The caste system has caused many fellow Indians and allies to be historically alienated from the hindus like the Jains, who left is disappointment when caste atrocities were at its peak owing to their ahimsa atheistic philosophies. This was way before the British came into the picture. In fact the caste system divided hindus into so many feuding sects that we couldn't consolidate power to stand up to larger adversaries like the Moghuls and the British and translated to india's extraordinary economic decline which was already in motion before the East India company came to our shores. These two colonisers saw the caste segregation as a weakness and exploited it, they didn't create it, it already existed and there is much historic proof of that. And they succeeded, they saw how much Brahmins enjoyed looking down on lower castes so they gave them advisory positions and high ranks to keep indians further squabbling amongst themselves so we'd be occupied in our own mess while they looted the country uninterrupted. India doesn't have diversity, it has the illusion of it. India is a deeply segregated society where each faction hardly interacts with each other. So on the outside it may seem like a lot of communities are co-existing with each other but the boundaries in-between are controlled by forces of caste, gender, superstitions and stereotypes who have been gatekeeping it making cross cultural exchange a massive challenge. That's why you have the North-South divide on everything from tax money to identity to linguistic fuedalism. Malhotra has to appeal to ignorance by saying "there must have been support for diversity for it to exist" knowing well this isn't the case and facts aren't on his side. We have come a very long way and we should celebrate that but with some degree of intellectual honesty.

Reservation should be based on a weighted average score of backwardness calculated using a number of different factors such as Educational Background, Economic Background, Geographical Background & Societal/Caste Background. Each factor should carry certain weightage out of the total and each individual should be assessed based on his background and assigned a score for each individual factor. At last a weighted average score based on all the factors should be calculated and this score should be used for giving reservation. Caste based blanket reservation just doesn't serve the purpose.

This only sounds good when you are in college or while writing an essay or debating someone. But when you come out of the theoretical world and enter the practical realm you realise that equality is not at all practical. Equality of opportunity on the other hand is something we can strive for. Social stratification is a reality of society.

Caste is such as foreign idea that even the supreme court of India has not been able to define caste in a way that stays true to Indian society. The Bible is discriminates against non-Christians. The Catholic church went further and classed non-Christians as non-human beings (person non grata) whose lands and lives could be taken over via the Doctrine of Discovery. This laid the moral foundation for the Christian genocide across the world, most heavily in the Americas where upwards of 95% of the population was wiped out. BIBLE does not discrimate against non-Christians. In Galatians 3:28 of the Bible we clearly read : There is neither Jew nor Greek ( gentile), there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are ALL ONE in Christ Jesus. The sanctitity and dignity of every humanbeing is clearly emphasized in the Bible. Jesus' message in John 3:16 of the Bible is clear and for all mankind: God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. So you are equal only if you are Christian. If you do not believe in Christ, you will burn in hell. Of that there is no dispute in Christianity. This is what leads Christians to the most genocidal of any religious people in history, Any religion can only be judged one parameter, which is the effect it has on its followers. The effect in Christianity is to turn adherents genocidal. The British were not doing anything different. They were playing by the book.

All Talk aside but did Dalits or other low caste people have access to education and wealth? The answer is no, the algorithm based on who needs what can be made today absolutely , but it wasn’t the same thing 60 years before. Also your understanding of caste is not very articulate, the discrimination still exists, inter caste marriages are very rare, it’s funny how the upper caste remained upper caste irrespective of what time and rule it is. Stop denying casteism just because it fits your narrative. I must say that both the host and guest are poorly educated about castes. India needs to eradicate casteism , accept it as something negative for our growth as a society and country , not just deny or misunderstand it. The British must have exploited casteism but have a look at what was happening even before the British empire began, from centuries people were being exploited in the name of their castes, are you trying to say that Ravi das and Kabir das or all these social reformers were a British construct. We had caste based reservations since independence and now it is 50% reservations. Why teh system established by Congress did not work and still they are saying no representations from dalit, OBC etc? The reason is it is the same family again and again enjoying reservations, generations after generations. It is same wealthy class among OBC, Dalits who are misusing reservations. Reservations has to be given only one or 2 generations for a family and once they have financial means to educate their children then their children should be considered as general category. Also reservations has to consider financial status. Keeping the current system and increasing reservations above 50% is injustice to the general category and injustice to economically backward people of other casts. Actually casts should not be a factor in reservations and time has proved this since independence
