His non violence approach and ideals are followed by many around the globe. Including Nelson Mandela and MLK. India had to be divided already due to Muslim league. Now, if you say all are equals, India would today have been 4 different countries for 4 different castes. But the future governments undeniably used it for political gains over its meaningful abolition. Apparently, In the final years of his life, Gandhi also realised his statements about dalits were wrong and requested to burn those statements with his corpse.

The issue with mother tongue is quite complex. My father performed his higher education PHD in Biochemistry in UP State in the 60’s - at that time the text books at the university level in sciences were in English (and he was forced to learn) - many politicians are now leveraging language as political tool - during a visit to the University in the 90’s, the curriculum was in Hindi - this makes it a challenge to obtain gainful employment - many of these politicians will play the ‘Hindi’ card and then send their kids to English schools. Be proud of your mother tongue but be practical and be able to adapt to demands of the environment.
