I was where he was at about 2 weeks ago. I have been sick for a while due to thyroid issues and doctors blowing me off. I had no energy to even do my hair. When I finally got seen by a competent doctor and they ran a battery of tests I was able to get on the proper dose of medication. I was able to go to my hair dresser who I haven't seen since I was 17 or so and get my ends trimmed. My hairdresser said my hair was essentially healthy besides the ends. Don't make fun of people who are depressed or sick because they can't do their hair or it gets out of control. We all go through things. The main thing is this man saw it was an issue and he has gotten help for it. 😊

I remember I just washed my hair from having a braid out without detangling first. You know I thought the warm water would saturate my hair and I would be good. NOT! I will NEVER wash my hair without detangling ever again. It was so tangled I felt like just shaving my head and starting over- I didn’t but I felt like it. Lesson learned

Omg I made a similar mistake! I decided not to derange my hair after a three strand twist out and I just got right in the shower. It was horrible, I wanted to cry. I had to slowly finger detangle and use my shower brush. I couldn’t believe how my hair was acting, never again.

@@chellhouston2399 Man. It's a lot! Detangling is so important. back in the 90s when we wore those darn Brandy braids for 12 weeks ( a school term), we all knew taking them out was a full day process. One to take them out and 2 to comb through all of our hair with a fine-toothed comb!!! Lol! Now I still use a seamless fine-toothed come to detangle my one inch sections every 4-6 weeks. I start with fingers and a wide-toothed and a medium toothed seamless comb first and finish with the fine-toothed one.

Use a generous amount of conditioner and work from END TO ROOT always!
@dr.diorcardiologist

Why from end to root ? Is it wrong the other way ? 🤯
@PAposter
3 жыл бұрын
@@dr.diorcardiologist Yes, it’s wrong. The hair is generally matted closer to the root. It is easier to detangle from the thinner hair at the ends and work your way up. Trying to rake through the thickest, most tangled area of the hair will result in a large amount of hair loss and pain. Try it both ways and you’ll see which is easier, less painful and produces less hair loss. 🙂

If I might suggest, never comb out natural hair that has just been loosened with a SMALL teeth comb. Using a VERY LARGE teeth comb is better as it doesn't pull out as much hair. My hair is thick and natural, and I learned this the hard way.

My hair is very fine so if I use a very large toothed comb and fingers, I will not get all of the shed hair and knots out. So my detangling starts with fingers, then a wide-toothed seamless comb, then a medium toothed seamless comb and then a fine-toothed seamless comb. I do this every 4-6 weeks along with my strong protein treatment so my hair can take the wear and tear of combing. I also detangle on one-inch sections. Much smaller than the sections she did in this video.

I learned the hard way that it's best for me to brush my hair out as I'm taking the style down. Especially with braids. Protective styles only really work if you take them out properly. Otherwise you just end up with your hair in a worse spot than it was before you put it in a protective style. In my situation it was braided because that's what works best for my hair type. I start at the ends with a rat tail comb to get the braid out. Then I go through with a detangling brush. I also take a wide comb to get the conditioner all the way through my hair.

I have ultra-fine hair and high density. If I don't actively prevent tangles, breakage and knots at unreal levels. I can't feel everything with my fingers unfortunately so I start with fingers, then wide tooth, then medium tooth, then fine tooth and then the tangle teezer for fine and fragile hair. I do this every 4-6 weeks with my strong protein treatment on damp conditioned hair and then dust my ends. other wise my hair is a mess!

She didn't do any ripping the ends broke off because they were dead. None of the hair came from his scalp hos is long. You can see the dead hair falling off. And you can tell by the part he kept his hair in two braids for a very long time. Those ended would've needed to be cut anyway, better they fell off in the process .she did a great job.

Before braids are out you should spray curl activator oil moisturizer OR use a detangling conditioner to take braids down and comb out. I use TreSemme Luxurious Moisture, yellow label or TreSemme Smooth & Silky blue label. It works.
This has happened to my hair before but not to this level and it was caused by the same thing. Not detangling before washing especially after taking down a hairstyle that you’ve had for some time.

Depending on how long he went without detangling that's about normal....especially on Long hair!! If you want to keep your hair long you have to learn to detangle properly and regularly otherwise all those long shed strands form a horrible web!!
Mannnn, I did that before 😅 went straight to washing without fully combing out my hair after braids thinking warm water would help me detangle 😩 was detangling for 4 hrs smhhh. The amount of hair that I lost was unimaginable
All that was not necessary. All the hair needed was a large tooth comb and an instant conditioner and also a detangler brush. Wash hair gently to get the rough stuff out first.
By the look at that middle part it seems as if his hair was done too tight which will definitely cause breakage and extra shedding of the hair. This has happen to me before. I won’t blame the shedding on the detangling process. Could it have been better sure but it’s not solely the detangling. It’s whoever put the braids in.
You did great, I know he was so happy after the detangling and wash 🤗🙌🏼
