    For anyone watching....you dont need a 60 gallon air compressor, get a 30 gallon 120v compressor and a LVLP spray gun, you can paint a car without having to buy the same compressor used in a full industrial paint shop. If you have the moeny to spend thats another thing, but if you are poor dont think you just cant do the work because you absolutely can paint your car with a LVLP gun and smaller compressor. You need to check your CFM airflow on the compressor and make sure your LVLP gun falls under that CFM the compressor puts out.

    I’m 20 years old, have been building my 79 z28 since I was 16, finally have the car finished mechanically, and have been watching your paint series over and over again as I’m doing bodywork because I’ve never done bodywork before much less paint, but hey you’ve gotta start somewhere. But after watching your series, I’m ready to shoot the paint this weekend! Thanks man! Shout out to Eastwood also for most of my supplies

    really appreciate these videos very very informative. im a mechanic tech with no body paint experience that being said. i reconstructed the front of my tenth anniversary 99 miata the paint cracked all the way to the metal all the way around the front when i got wrecked. sanded the whole car down to base metal and am going to paint it two tone sky blue with 4-5in of white at the bottom. watching half a dozen of these live videos i feel confident i know what im doing to make the car look great at the end.

    Hello Kevin Tetz, Eastwood, or to anyone in this industry, I have been forced to change my career. My age is 49.5, I am an extreme perfectionist, I'm extremely detail oriented in everything I do, and I learn quickly. Lastly, I am OBSESSED with cars and trucks. I'm considering beginning a career in the auto-body, painting, and restoration industry. I was planning to retire at age 65... That gives me 15 years, or longer to learn, work hard, and try to be successful. My question is: "Am I too old to begin a career in this particular industry?"

    Where is the best place to install a dessicant whip? At the compressor end or the paint gun end, does it matter?

  • @car_ventures

    @car_ventures

    9 жыл бұрын

    larryz24 Paint gun end is the best place. That way it reduces the chance of any moisture build up that could occur along the length of the air line. If you get a chance to see a painter in a booth, they'll often have a belt on that connects to the long air line and then they have the whip hose connected to the belt, going straight to the gun. Makes it easier to control the air line too as you only have to focus on the ~3 feet of hose.

    Assuming your using the proper cartridge for the work at hand, if they're collecting dust or debris it'd say change them once you notice it's hard to pull through. Also for chemically filtering, say spraying 2 component paint, if I can smell it it's time to change filter. As always, best practices should be followed by manufacturers to be totally safe.

I would like to specialize for paint jobs. Ive already got a guy that does a great job with body work, so its on me to paint it and just finish up his work (filler etc) therefore i dont need a gun for dents and such. I want to learn about paint guns, fillers, primers and more. Cars only.
