    When I first rode my 2024 TE300, I thought something was wrong with it. The bike ran exactly as you described (blubberly and sputtered). I had buyer's remorse until I purchased the TSP ERM. I uploaded the free map, and there is a night and day difference with how the bike runs. It's a different bike now. Keep the videos coming, it’s awesome to hear your perspective!

    Good to know this. I've been watching videos of this bike wondering right away, wtf is wrong with the way it sounds at partial throttle. It sounded too lean to me but most people are saying it's too rich, stock? I dunno. But it sounded immediately noticeably weird.

    Love the video's! What do you do during the winter riding time in the PNW to keep your bike up to temp while riding? It let my 22 KTM 300XC warm up to say 165' before I touch the throttle but then when I take off and ride it drops down to anywhere between 115 and 135 when its only 40-50 outside. I think this is why my bike is loading up while im riding, the ECU thinks its in warm up mode and provides more fuel and oil and then she loads up. What do you think?

  • @WASemiHardEnduro

    @WASemiHardEnduro

    4 ай бұрын

    I ride year-round and with both TPI and TBI I haven't had any issues. I warm mine up to about 100 (rad temp) before taking off (165 is unnecessary). Note that if you have a thermostat still (and you should!!), the rad temps will drop with cold airflow, but the t-stat will close if it gets too cold in order to keep coolant temp at the head at an optimal level. Rad temps of 115-135 shouldn't trigger a "cold-start" mode. AFAIK, the ECU's "cold start mode" turns off at >50C (~120F), but that's measured at the head, not the rads. I suspect your issue might be 1. You removed the t-stat, or 2. likely a bad CCPS. The only time I've ever had to "clean out" my TPI was 1. when it had a bad CCPS, and 2. when I did the injector relocation kit (ran like crap, so I removed it). Lastly - you can block one radiator with cardboard to get temps up higher if it's cold and you're riding a decent speeds (lots of airflow).

    Thank you for the response. I have never touched the thermostat and I also removed my IRK. Maybe the CCPS has gone out again, it only has about 30 hours on it since the last time I replaced it. I will try that, thank you! @@WASemiHardEnduro

    2024 TE300 Pro rider. I could not disagree more with your statements about the stock maps for the bike, at least as far as the Pro version of the TBI goes. My bike runs like butter when I follow the warm up procedure in the book. She is awesome at low RPM, she will chug and chug and chug up the gnarliest climbs. When she is allowed to run she flies. Mid can be a little flat but no big deal. All of this low end cleanliness goes away if you don't let her warm up and use a decent "for injection" 2 stroke oil. If you run JASCO-FD injection ready oil she purrs. I run redline and always allow her to warm up properly. I also run an FE350 with a Vortex and full FMF system as well as it being fully uncorked, I know what a chug hound feels like and that TE300 TBI Pro as epic. All IMHO of course and based on the bikes I currently own and ride. For note, it doesn't matter what map I use, she runs perfectly, but like I said. I run Redline JASCO-FD oil so it's a race ready, for Injection 2 stroke oil. Hope this info helps, I know it seems a little contrary but I didn't want folks thinking that everyone that had these bikes had the same awful experience as it seems you may have. Maybe try some different 2/oil. Just a thought.

    Glad you like it! They are definitely perfectly rideable stock. What other 300s have you owned that you’d compare it too? It is well-known that they are pretty rich down low, an opinion shared by a LOT of riders. Stock, it sounds like a Sherco with a too-fat pilot jet. They also get terrible fuel mileage, another indicator that they’re too rich. They’re also down 7hp compared to the TPI bikes.

    JD Tuner was great for cleaning up the fueling, but the ERM (or any reflash) can do timing and power valve in addition to fuel, which helps massively. Way more power, much cleaner running, and the map switch now makes a huge difference.

  • @onthethrottle7104

    You guys do a lot of leg crawling riding, so I'd like to see more real world riding and explanation to see how the ERM and tunes would be better for operation. FYI when the "blubbery" sound comes on at low RPM, the bike is still running smooth. And even when listening to a carb bike, like a Beta or Sherco, down low they are blubber too. That sound is when the power valve closing off. On the TBI the blubber noise is more of the way the second injector comes on and off. Not saying the ERM and tuning isn't nice, but just sayin it would be helpful to see exactly how spending that much money is going to really pay off. For some guys out there that's a lot of money and they might not need to spend it.

  • @WASemiHardEnduro

    @WASemiHardEnduro

    4 ай бұрын

    It’s not the powervalve. The PV doesn’t start to open until ~5k, and the blubbery running is it being too rich, period. No, you don’t have to fix it - it still runs smoothly, but it runs better if you do. And you’ll get better fuel economy. The benefit to the ERM is adjustability. You can change whatever you want. If you only ride easy trails and want more top-end, you can do that too.

  • @onthethrottle7104

    @@WASemiHardEnduro The KTM engineers talked about how the "stuttering" on the bottom end comes from the first and second injectors "dancing" back and forth (on and off taking turns) and they also made the comment that if you notice, the engine is still running very smooth with lots of traction (don't let let the sound fool you). I ride extreme rocky steep trails, and long trails, lots of mixed, some super slow tech and then medium harsh...not a lot of full out straight out but some wide open throttle for hell hills. Yes, fuel consumption is lackluster even with slower nasty trails. I would still like to see a real test so I guess I'll take the plunge and check it out. Bike runs great right now...

    Nothing “wrong” with it. They just run rich. They all do. Some people are ok with that, some people aren’t. If you’re coming from a carb’d bike, it probably doesn’t bother you at all. But the ‘24 TE and XCW are down on power compared to the TPI - 5hp less peak. If you want that power back, you need a reflash.
