Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition - Great Gate of Kiev (saxophone and piano)
Музыка
It’s been so painful to see what’s happening in Ukraine. As a Russian citizen who lives in the US, I feel a special urge to show that I’m against this horrifying war. My thoughts and prayers are with the people in Ukraine who suffer and fear for their lives. As Putin’s tanks closed in on Ukraine, my friend Aleksandr, a brilliant pianist and conductor who grew up in Kyiv, and I both expressed willingness to play this beautiful arrangement of Jun Nagao of Mussorgsky’s “The Great Gate of Kyiv”. Two weeks ago, this movement started to have a different meaning for all of us. There is grief and sorrow, nevertheless with immense hope. Hope that people will feel safe one day and unite with their families. Sadly not all from those who initiate the criminal war are punished, but none of them can escape the judgment of history. ‼️Now a VERY important message to young Ukrainian saxophonists: as a musician I’m constantly thinking about the next generation of musicians. I was thinking for a long time, about how can I help and show my support. ❗️I would like to offer to all Ukrainian saxophonists FREE ONLINE LESSONS❗️ I understand how much pain you feel, but I want us together to overcome it and to keep bringing joy and peace by making more music. Please reach out any time by DM messages or by email: vkovalev@umich.edu.

First (watching now) Edit: Wow!! Both of you sound great. Very musical as always! Is this the piece that you learned in a day? If so, it's scary that it sounds this good. Also, the recording quality is pristine, both visual and audio. You're the man as always!

Мусоргский назвал это так. Пусть что-то подобное напишет сначала украинский автор, тогда может назвать как угодно)))).
Великий русский композитор, да )
