I'm always surprised anytime someone (especially a musician) says they have not heard Pink Floyd. But if you are going to get into the band, you have at least listen to an album side (1st half) beginning to end. Pink Floyd is not a band that you can really get by listening to randomly selected tracks. Every album is a concept that tells a story or has a unifying theme.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

Pink Floyd is Legendary, they're a Vibe! I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan since they released their "Dark Side of the Moon" album in 1973, I was 17. There's no Rock band like Pink Floyd, they're in a category all by themselves. The listener feels Pink Floyds music, they take you on a cerebral journey, and David Gilmour's guitar is a big part of that. This Pulse concert is one of the best live Rock Concert/Show "productions" I've ever seen, it's really off the charts for 1994 imo.

I have 3 main bands that i absolutely love & have been with me for over 40+ years. These are Pink Floyd, Rush & Queen. I put them in no order of which are "best", they're all as good in their own ways. I got to see Rush live when i was about 16 yrs old, hitch hiked over 200 miles (back 200 too) to see them in London. I never unfortunately saw Queen live, although i hope one day to. I was however at this amazing Pink Floyd gig shown here. Another 200 mile journey to see them at Earls court London but thankfully that time on coach lol. I cannot express my deep passion & love for Pink Floyd, they have been in my life since such a young age. David Gilmour, like Lifeson & May is a guitar legend, a guitar god. His long notes & powerful guitar work is as much unsurpassed as Lifeson or indeed that of Brian May of Queen. They all deserve the 'guitar god' title & they all belong to the greatest groups category in music history. Pink Floyd, Queen & Rush have hit the accolade of global phenomenon now, they all deserve it.. They're all just brilliant, the very pinnacle of quality of rock music & they set the stage for many many groups/artists we hear today. Thank You for reacting to the great Pink Floyd, it will be a fantastic journey, like that of Rush. You should also react to Queen & the legend that was the late Freddie Mercury, different style but just amazingly great! 👍 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸

Great reaction, John! Very much enjoyed watching you experience this and feel the same way we all did the first time we experienced this show. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you do more Pink Floyd. As for which songs to do next, Pink Floyd albums are conceptual and meant to be experienced as a whole. They're more akin to a complete story rather than a collection of random songs. If you are up for it, I would recommend reacting to each album in one sitting, then either uploading it as a whole, or breaking the uploads into smaller files. Doing a song randomly is like picking up a novel and reading a chapter from the middle of the book. It's surely satisfying, but context is lost. Especially in the case of the "Big 4", Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. The Final Cut, to a lesser extent. If you would rather do another random song first, I would recommend Time or Money next. Lots to go from there though. Again, great job on the reaction, man!

It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

I'd recommend doing "Dark Side of the Moon" in 2 reaction videos (one for each side), b/c you can pause and give your reaction, but listening to how the songs flow, without any breaks in what is going on, makes it magic. There is a natural break in the album because it was recorded for vinyl, hence 2 vids.

At the Pulse Concert, there are 3 members of Pink Floyd from the 1960s performing at around age 50.

Great reaction to this classic song and video. I saw them on this Pulse tour in 1994 at The Alamodome in San Antonio with 47,000 fans. I had 18th row seats on the floor and it was an experience of a lifetime!!! Also saw them in 1987 in Austin. You should also react to, from this Pulse tour, High Hopes and Run Like Hell!!!!

John, I don't usually comment on videos, but I have to say, you've got to listen to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through, with no interruptions, in a dark room with headphones. That album remained on the album chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988! My husband and I have been blessed to have seen Pink Floyd live 25 times in different parts of the world. The best time was on Long Island, New York 5 night in a row in 1988. If you ever get the chance the best tribute band to see would be Brit Floyd. I hope you'll listen to the Wish You Were Here and Animals albums, too. Pink Floyd has always been my favorite band and always will be. Thanks for all your videos. We really enjoy them. P.S. I forgot to mention the first time we saw them live was in 1977 Frankfurt, Germany. The Animals album had just been released days before and we got to hear Animals for the first time live. It was incredible! Cheers, John!

Big audience, and I was lucky enough to be one of them :) Brilliant solo, especially as this was at the end of a long show, this was the second encore, the 3rd and final encore was "Run like Hell", if you like light shows you should miss that! The entire show was brilliant, but if you want another great solo try "Sorrow", or maybe "One of the days".

For a relative "newby" I would always say start with "Money" audio version from the album The Dark Side of the Moon 😎 If you dare take a chance, do the album in two hits (side 1 and side 2) Definitely have lyrics to hand, just like we did when we first slipped the vinyl out of the world's most iconic sleeve artwork 😉

Mind was officially blown when this version came out in 1994. Knew and loved the song before, but this took it to a stratospheric level! I still get chills every time I hear it! The Pink Floyd well is deep...so much incredible music to hear & experience. Just a smattering of must listens: Echoes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Time, Dogs, Welcome To The Machine, Wish You Were Here, Us And Them, Money, One Of These Days (do the version from this concert! 1994's PULSE)...these guys were masters of 'head' music! Always a trip!

Alright! This is gonna be good! Yer gonna get ppl suggesting...you should sit down and listen to The Wall in it's entirety. Strong suggestion, and you'd get a ton of traffic if you did an album reaction. It's pretty terrific from beginning to end. Legendary concept album, maybe the best one ever (sorry to my fellow Rush fans 😉)

I cannot say The Wall was a good as say 2112, they're both amazing. Both the highest quality of music & by bands that are just the pinnacle in music history. After 40+ years of Rush/Pink Floyd & Queen, i cannot say one is my favourite. When i listen to Floyd, my heart says yes, these are my fave but then i listen to Rush or Queen & think the same thing! Lol. Theres certainly no "V" between them, they're all just bloody fantastic! 👍🇬🇧

@@Paul-hl8yg As a Rush lifer, 2112 is more concise and to the point (22 min) and it hits ME harder than The Wall. But the musician in me can concede The Wall made a bigger impact overall on the music world. Love ya Nick, but Neil... 🤠🤘

@@MrRezRising Rush/Pink Floyd/Queen, all three bands make me cry with love/passion/pride for them. Moving notes that other groups never achieved. They're special groups, all seen as global phenomenons now. I will never stop listening to them. I like others, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Sabbath etc too. But my big 3 will always be!

It's safe to dive into Pink Floyd "head first" John as PF's musical pool is VERY DEEP! Since the late 1960s, hippies and all sorts of music lovers have been trippin' to PF's tunes and albums. Try "The Wall" to understand the lyrics and setting of "Comfortably Numb," it's quite a journey. Love the way PF embraces the deep BASS as a counterbalance to the toothy treble of the terrific guitar solo riffs.

I wish you could have seen them in person in the 70's. They were the first ones to use lasers and beam-splitters, and the first ones to use a rising drum stage. They were and are on another level, that I think will never be achieved again.
