My favorite moment of watching someone discover Jacob is the “moment” when your brain breaks and you have a singular and unexplainable emotional response to what you are experiencing. I could see this song doing that for you. Welcome to the other side. The journey of discovery that is awaiting you is fun.

Quincy Jones was the first "chord sign holder". Steve Vai was the second one.

You asked how many people were involved. I've had the same question, so I counted. Looking at the credits, I get 130 musicians plus 3 remote camera/videographers = 133, ① ignoring those people in the New Orleans street, and the audience he 'conducted'. Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year. ☮ ① Credits: Acapelle group Take Six 6, METROPOLE ORKEST 69, AEOLIANS OF OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY choir 45, Moroccan Gnawa 5, Electric Bass 1, chord signs 2, additional orchestration 1, Jacob Collier. Chords signs: Quincy Jones, his manager, and Steve Vai.

In case you didn't know yet, this is one of the 5 songs that have each won him a Grammy for best arrangement 😊 'Moon River' is another one... Then 'You & I', 'The Flintstones', and 'He Won't Hold You'. I've subscribed so I won't miss your reactions 😉

You and I is the most beautiful harmonic arrangement I’ve ever heard. The chords he uses in it are just beautiful. Even the dissonant ones. I’ve probably listened to it 1000 times and still notice new things

Let’s not forget that Jacob arranged the entire orchestral part. Dude basically wrote a symphony for a Lionel Richie song

Love your ‘real time experience’ you have every right to be (joyously) overwhelmed. True appreciators go through similar emotional rides. He is a genius. That word is one I don’t throw around but if the ‘harmonic sandals fit… If you wish to be put onto another amazing phase of Jacobs creative wonderment, Moon River is for You. Have 911 on speed dial. Just subbed. Lets keep this ride going. :)

Most people are like me, "not a musician". Then there's people like you, "a musician". And then there's Jacob Collier, "Not a human." Here's a fun one that Jacob did for Samsung back in 2017. It shows some more of his mastery of many instruments. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKxo0KSCma_fj5M.html

When you are done with Jacob Collier which could last a while I would consider looking for Snarky Puppy - Lingus or Dirty Loops - Thriller. And if you wanna hear the best voice of the world begin with Dimash Kudaibergen - SOS from 5 years ago, you can then work up to his latest song from there.
