Jacob is a jazz phenom, won 5 Grammy Awards at age 27. He's got all the tools. The first person holding chords in the video is legendary jazzman Quincy Jones, Jacob's manager / the second is legendary rock guitarist Steve Vai. Jacob's creativity reminds me of Ren If Jacob and Ren ever hang out new galaxies will form.

4:24 - Jacob Collier is the favorite musician of most top tier musicians. A prodigy with perfect pitch and some of the most in depth understanding of harmony ever, endlessly creative. Truly mindblowing. He's lectured at MIT, etc.

Jacob is considered a contemporary jazz phenom..having won multiple Grammys..the other vocalists are no other than Take6..The OG acapella jazz and gospel group…Jacob is also talented in many different instruments..while it’s true he may not be everyone’s taste..there’s no denying the creativity and musicality he has☺️

Praise the music God's. You have finally discovered Jacob Collier. The man, the myth, the legend, the English genius. This young guy has one of the most incredible musical minds in all of history. Just imagine this one human arranged all of this in the song. Every instrument, every voice, every aspect you can imagine. I hope you listen to more of his music in the near future. Or even watch music teachers or musicians react to his music and watch how baffled they get. Always enjoy your reactions.

The UK edition of Rolling Stone did a cover story on Jacob recently. The first paragraphs of the article read: "The testimonials written about Jacob Collier from global stars are so intensely fawning and complimentary that they might seem fake if they weren’t so unanimous. “He’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before,” Stormzy has said, while Coldplay’s Chris Martin labelled him “the best musician in the world”. The great Quincy Jones, Collier’s de facto manager and early mentor, added: “I have never in my life seen a talent like this.” And the BBC did a documentary feature on Jacob a year or so ago. If you're interested, it does a great job summarizing Jacob and his career so far. It's called something like, "Jacob Collier - In the Room Where it Happens" (He creates most of his music from a room in his family home in London and his first album was called "In My Room".)

Jacob is a true gift to us all as a musician and a human being. He is a genius and really came to people's attention in his late teens with amazing self produced videos. Done with multiple takes creating harmonies and entire bands where he is the sole participant. It was these early videos that first brought him to the attention of music legend Quincy Jones. He and Jones are friends to this day. Jacob is so well regarded that musicians from around the world are happy to collaborate with him. He is currently on a post-pandemic world tour. In the video you just watched Jacob obviously sings, and plays many instruments. He also did all the arrangements, wrote the vocal harmonies and totally self-produced the video. As I mentioned he is a genius and a joy as a human being. His music is done uncompromisingly. The way he wants it to be. And even sticking to his standards as opposed to the whims of popular culture he has five Grammys to his credit.

Jacob is ridiculously talented and can play lots of musical instruments extremely well, as well as the crowds at his concerts 😊. He is technically so precise and pays great attention to detail. He hosts Q&A sessions on YT from his bedroom/recording sttudio at his house in London where he has lived most of his life with his sisters and Chinese grandmother. People call in and his knowledge of musical structure is astonishing. .😁😁

I started listening to Jacob very extensively in 2020 (after this music video came out). Although I've listened to him sing this song many times, this was my first time watching the full music video from start to finish. Thanks for reminding me of this treasure ❤️😊😇

The main collaborations are Take 6 and the Metropole Orkest, among others… Consider this… Jacob most likely did ALL the arranging, for ALL the instruments, played ALL the percussion instruments at the beginning of this song, played multiple instruments throughout ALL his videos, and has not yet REACHED HIS POTENTIAL.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Tom Traubert's Blues (4 Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen)" by Tom Waits (Also known as "Waltzing Matilda"). His voice is so unique that one critic once described it as though "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside & run over with a car"! He's a well-regarded & respected songwriter from within the "Rock" genre from the 70's & 80's. I'd LOVE to hear your take on his signature song. Yeah I certainly can't say anything about his musicality or ability etc. but his songs largely leave me cold. They feel 'clever' but are missing the ability to move me on any sort of emotional level.

Makes sense, his most ubiquitous criticism is that he's a maximalist, his weakness is restraint and utilizing quiet, space, patience... there are songs where he shows he can, Time to Rest Your Weary Head, Make Me Cry, Hideaway, Never Gonna Be Alone etc. But he usually can't help but include seemingly every idea he has for a song without restraint. It seems to be an artistic choice, but I think he'll tone things down as his artistic sensibilities mature

Correct. This was my introduction to the artist/ artists. I do real raw reactions. I don’t study content beforehand. I walk into everything blindly for an authentic reaction. I’m a hip hop songwriter and currently learning about other genres.
