@@Taetro Thank you! I have just finished understanding this part here. It took me only a few days to get the "thirds" and "major"/"minor" thing right (I hope) ❤️ 🙂 Little fun fact: In German there is no note/key(?) B but an H instead. I found it eye opening, that it is actually A to G in English, which makes more sense, but I think there must be a reason that it's an H German 😅

Listen man, I've been trying to learn this stuff for a long time. It's shocking I haven't found a series that breaks these concepts down as clearly and simply as you do here. Everything else I've seen so far seems needlessly over-complicated or focuses on things that are irrelevant or too advanced, the building blocks you're giving here are just great. I've been a musician for 30 years and I have never heard anyone (or considered it myself) explain chord progressions with such ease. You've said many times that there is so much about music that people THINK they don't get simply because "formal" explanations over-complicate things and this is a million percent proof of that. @@geetamishra7478 Because that's how you determine major/minor chords. You don't necessarily have to skip a note for chord progressions, you could play F-G-C and it will still be a chord, that is an Fsus2. But most western music(pop music in particular) generally only stick to major and minor chords, so skipping any other note would make sense because that is how you play major/minor chord.

Okay so I really never leave comments on youtube but I just wanted to say, after a few years of playing a few different instruments and MULTIPLE attempts to learn music theory, this was the first video where it "clicked" for me, and where I was able to actually understand the underlying mathematical sorta connection between all of these concepts (keys, chords, scales, major vs minor etc.). Where I thought I had an idea how to before but would often fail, this is the video that, after watching, I was able to sit down at my piano, choose a key, and play all the (major and minor) chords in that key. Thank you man.

As much as I thought that I will not stick for long to your videos after the first one from this series, this episode actually made so much clearer everything in a compact way that I have never found elsewhere. I think your way of teaching music is top tier, just calm, showing everything, explaining step by step, leaving no room for procrastination and showing fun stuff along the way. People should learn from you not only how to produce music, but also how to teach music

I started watching your Ableton beginners video earlier today, where you teased this series. I was in the Ableton videos because I want to learn how to make music, but as per every other time I've set out on this endeavour, I just didn't know where to place notes to make them sound good and gave up. As hinted there, this is not the first time I've tried to understand how music is made. After these first 2 videos, I feel more confident than ever that I'm on a path that may lead to an understanding of music. I'm so excited to continue these, they are truly fantastic, and I've been looking for just this for a long time. Thank you.

As someone who has been a musician for over a decade and was formally taught this, I genuinely feel this was the most effective and practical explanation I’ve heard.

It's amazing how well everything all fits together. I've been using the circle of 5ths for composition of chords, but now I understand where those chords come from and how they are formed. Everything just kind of clicks.

Thank you! I watched multiple different videos about music theory but it never really "clicked". All the explanation never really seem to make sense to me. Now for the first time I feel like I understood the relation between keys, scales, intervalls and how major and minor scales relate to each other and how chord progression work! Invaluable video! Please make more videos like that where u "demystify" topics

The reason for why your video helps so much more than others is simply your patience. You do a great job of teaching "for dummies" in a way. That's exactly what people like me need. Repeating things over and over again and going very slowly helps a lot.

As many others have already said, thank you so much for this. It’s like I finally connected all the dots together. I studied everything about keys and chords as theory but It was difficult for me to apply on a keybord. You made it easier, thank you 💫
