I was also born in 1945 Margaret. 27th April, the last week of World War 2. My mother always told me "You can call yourself a War Baby". 😆😆😆

....and the memories come flooding back - strange thing is they're too long ago to recall exactly what they are, but they brought a smile to my face. I think my Gran's 'radio rentals' was involved.

***** yes - I've got the 78rpm also (what's left of it!) but that was a slightly abridged version I recall. I think that Ray Martin (composer) issued it under the pseudonym of "Mashall Ross". "Top Of The Form" made it very famous as well as that mid-50s film about kids at a music school.

wordsmith52 ...interesting that Ray should use the name Ross - albeit with an extra 's'.

Not sure exactly why he used the name Marshall Ross, except that he had a habit of using different names. He was born in Austria as Kurt Kohn, but Anglicised his name after arriving in England in 1937. He joined the army in 1940 and got involved in military music so maybe not surprising that he composed "Marching Strings". He may have been inspired or influenced by US composer Leroy Anderson as some of his music was of similar vein around that time. He went to USA later but ended up in South Africa where he died (from cancer) in 1988 aged 69.

Every elderly person is valuable to society because their long term mamoty returns when they are in the spirit world dimension because we continue to learn from each other even after we pass over to become a member of the spirit world dimension.
