These guys are serious heavy hitters in the political writing sphere. Jon is really the Godfather he can pick and choose pretty much anyone to be on with him with his limited schedule and he's going not for the celebrity haircuts like Maher, but for the people with the most articulate and relevant POV. Bravo, TDS!

The U.S. MUST start putting conditions on any "aid" sent to any country. 1st, there needs to be an accurate accounting for how our "aid" is used. 2nd (probably should be 1st), absolutely none of said "aid" can be used for war crimes. How is that too much to ask?! If Israel or Ukraine, or any other state the U.S. help shore up can't abide by those very simple requests then they don't deserve my tax dollars or any one elses!

It had led to absolutely nothing but a sense of moral superiority on both sides. In fact it has led us to the current situation - a horrifying terrorist attack triggering a retaliatory (potential) genocide. And you can keep going back to keep seeing this pattern. One of the best discussions I’ve seen on any topic, regardless of the setting. Jon’s moderation was exemplary here. My two favorite quotes have to be these: “We refuse to allow ourselves or our communities to be held hostage to a ruinous conflict thousands of miles away that we may never be able to resolve or fix. But we can have an impact about how we treat each other here.” - Yair Rosenberg “I could accept any Palestinian’s view or any Israeli’s view when they’re so intimately involved in it. But I could never respect a bloodthirsty American.” - Murtaza Hussain

We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it employment in our own country The property owners will come over to our side. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly." -AIPAC controls the American congress to uphold Herzl's plan, so America is bought and sold. -Corrupt Arab autocrats want Israeli technology to control their populations. -Israel continues with illegal "settlements" (i.e. theft, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid). -Palestinians and their non-state allies will continue to resist violently- inevitably. -Gradual genocide will continue. - Israeli, and Western countries will make big bucks from the arms and cyber-security industries. -At some point there will be a terrible reckoning.

I'm an Aid Worker supporting affected families in Ukraine for the past two years. It's heartbreaking work, but as an American, with every person I meet, I offer hope we will not leave them in their hour of need. People still believe in what America stands for. Even if we don't believe it ourselves. ❤

The US is a powerful country whose ideals (at least on paper) are still looked up to throughout the world. So, when you live in a place where those ideals are severely under attack, it is natural for people to hope the country with those ideals will help.

Trust me, that trust is at an all-time low. And I come from a country that was once helped by the US. Even my people are losing faith in this ideal because of what's happening to Palestine. USA lost credibility big time with their unconditional support for genocide.@@MrBrock314

I almost teared up on your comment! I'm an immigrant who came here 20 years ago now because I, like many other immigrants, had an American dream. Many people around the world look up to America as an ideal. Sadly in the last 20 years, I feel things have gotten so bad in a way that I've never seen it before. The division and chaos in our society is heartbreaking and disheartening. But you're right. We gotta cling on to that belief that made this country what it is and made us who we are. We can't give up! Gotta keep believing and keeping on.

@@yehoshuabedziner2314 Sure, if Israel were to pull out from the west bank now, Hamas would probably take over. But it should hardly be surprising that the most radical faction gets support from a population living under an apartheid regime there. They had decades to build relations with those people, and show them that a peaceful coexistence is possible and in their best interest. Instead their actions (building settlements, ignoring violance from the settlers) entrench this believe that Israelis and Palestinians have to be enemies. I don't argue that Israel should just pull out today, but they should start applying the same law on all the people living there. Not military law for one part and civil law for the other. Set up a citizens assembly to discuss the futue of the land, and broadcast it. It worked in Northern Ireland, so why not here?
