+siemenssx1 So because a large part of the country thinks we have an immigration problem because our social system isn't built to take such large amounts of refugees, we're all a bunch of racists? If our country could actually take as many refugees as there is wanting to get in, that would be fine by most of the population. But the reality is that our system cannot take the absurd amount of refugees that want to get it. It has nothing to do with racism, just straight up what can the country support and what can't it support.

In the US we hear pickle and automatically think about a pickled cucumber. You have to remember that other countries pickle lots of other things, not just cucumbers, so they specify. It's like if we only grilled onions but no other vegetable, we might be able to say "hey throw some grills on my burger". But we grill lots of vegetables, so nobody would know what you meant if you said "throw some grills...". That's what it might be like for someone to hear an American say "pickles" when referring to pickled cucumbers lol

@@dannyleira9371 You're absolutely right about it not just being "pickles" here, but another thing is we have pickles in the style that America does but we also have ~3 other ways of brining cucumber that aren't called just "pickles". One being what Halaigh is describing as "pickled cucumber" which we call "agurkesalat" (cucumber salad) which - depending on which region of the country you visit - is gonna be either lemon zest infused or vinegar brined slices of cucumber with a bit of sugar to them. That's what goes on our traditional style of hotdogs.
