    My sources in another universe told me that in their universe strong force is weaker than weak force and weak force is much stronger than strong force, and as if this was not enough, their scientists have interchanged names of these two forces.

    I think the "Fine-Tuned-Universe" theory is is an exercise in bad statistics. We have precisely one example of life in the universe which happens to be just barely within the bounds of the laws of physics, but what is to say that there couldn't be something like life at a incomprehensibly different scale with incomprehensibly different characteristics in a universe with different laws of physics. Until we could model a universe to such a minute degree that it could also detect our minuscule life in our universe without foreknowledge of our universe, we are just guessing that.

  • @JustinL614

    @JustinL614

    2 жыл бұрын

    Like life? We use a very specific definition for what qualifies as life and if you change it too much we might not be talking about the same thing. If we are talking about the same thing then yes we are guessing because if we just focus on what can be known as opposed to what can be imagined we reach limits of knowledge.

  • @nicholashollis1522

    Yes, but within known parameters if even the most minute changes were made then matter wouldn't exist (much less life). While there may be other unknown arrangements that permit life, we don't know of any.

    It's another example of humans making ourselves the focal point of the universe. People really can't fathom the idea that we may not be special in any way. We have to give ourselves purpose through silly stories like this which make us feel important. Like a scientific religion in a sense.

    There's this assertion from the EMRP (electromagnetic radiation pressure) gravity theory, that the various measurements of the gravitational constant over the decades varies regularly enough to justify the use of Fourier transform analysis. Ever since I encountered that idea, it makes more sense that constants might not be constants at all, but rather the consequence of first principles that we have yet to follow up on or suspect are even possible. The overall idea here can be stated as such: In the pursuit of isolating variables, if some of the measured values aren't changing enough under observation, they won't be recognized as variables at all.

    @Physics Dude - Other life can be, and probably is, very different from life as we know it. However, without the right conditions it is unlikely that life of any kind could exist. For example, suppose the universe only consisted of photons, and no matter. Or suppose the entire universe collapsed into a Big Crunch less than a nanosecond after the big bang. Etc.

    @@EugeneKhutoryansky I'm researching, it's my hobby. I want to build a new, more effective system of social order. And there are reasons for this. The problem of global warming lies not in the field of ecology, but in the field of thermonuclear physics; more and more helium accumulates in the sun, and it begins to enter into synthesis reactions more and more often. If this is the true, then Homo sapiens, has no more than 500-1000 years left to exist. That is means, that humanity have not so much time left before the exam after training. And this is without wars, global crises and the "universe 25". Your channel and personally You, doing the most important work in this world - spreading science! According to my research, only science and research have made homo sapiens out of a Neanderthal. Only science has brought all of humanity to a qualitatively new level of development and comfort. I don’t think the anthropic principle necessarily says that it’s a multiverse. It says that the likelihood of life observing a universe which can contain life is 100%. It doesn’t matter what those odds are (1 in a googol, 1 in 10, 1 in 1) it’s the only reality we can observe. Another multiverse theory I’ve heard is that there is only one universe, but when a universe nears its end it collapses in on itself and creates a new universe, either through gravity or the blind luck of quantum mechanics. The amount of time required for all particles in the universe to spontaneously tunnel to the same place to create a new Big Bang, or rearrange to a position that can rebuild life, is long but not infinite. This would be a multiverse theory that is eternal in both directions, and has consistent laws of physics each time. It’s kinda like Super Mario Galaxy. The whole universe resets, but slightly different each time. It also takes 10E10E10E10 years to do it, but most of that time is spent at heat death.

    @@nmarbletoe8210 The original basis for the idea of "multiverse" did not stem from anthropic principle but from "many worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics. That just happens to fit in nicely also with the idea of "anthropic principle". I don't know if science will ever be able to definitively "prove" the theory, but at least it has more experimental and observational basis than religious explanations, which are more on the order of intuitive tales, pulled out of hat, without feeling even the need to prove. but rather trying to shame anyone who disbelieves.

    Vedic scriptures states that there is Maha-Vishnu (God), lying in the causal ocean in a mystic sleep. When he breaths out, multiple universes are emanated from pores of His body. When He breaths in, they are all wind up back again. That is eternal cycle called samsara. He also impregnates these universes with individual entities just by glance, observation. And all stories which are happening are His dreams.

    Great video and great job as always. I have a question when mentioning that by using the time-space graph the speed of light equals 1, wouldn't that be the case regardless of what we measured as the spped of light? Even if we measure for example that the speed of light is equal to 10 m/s? So couldn't we argue that we don't know what defines the scale and that is something fundamental and that the scale factor could be random?

    Several physicists want to skip the axises in the spacetime diagrams so they only show light cones. The light cones will just have different shapes depending on measuring units. The results will be relatively correct regardless of number of events and unit of measurements. It is easy to look into a universal time tick comparison by having three objects in a spacetime diagram, where one observer is lined to be at rest following the Y axis. Observer A cannot compare time dilation between the distant objects B and C, in relation to themselves.

    A new book about Niels Bohr points out that Bohr didn't just "shut up and calculate" Bohr's mind was visionary enough to imagine the quantum world cannot be imagined. Quantum particles, the nature we are, cannot be visualized. Heisenberg had to walk for himself in the early morning after a night's quantum discussion with Bohr, saying to himself "Can nature really be so weird…" "At some point there is a transition from the micro world to the macro world" - Bohr and the Measurement Problem - "Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real" - - -

    Gravity-only interactions from parallel branes would have lumpiness which could cause dramatic flyby interactions with invisible stars and planets. This would cause extra "stirring" of solar systems, globular clusters, and galaxies. An unseen mass could zing through any system and disrupt it suddenly, quite distinct from the diffuse dark matter models.

I mean I’ve always been mesmerised with physics and mathematics so this was the only way to understand things but currently for personal reasons I am a med student. I tried to address this in the video. Although other life can, and probably is, very different from life as we know it, without the right conditions is unlikely that life of any kind could exist. For example, suppose the universe only consisted of photons, and no matter. Or suppose the entire universe collapsed into a Big Crunch less than a nanosecond after the big bang. Etc.

    Pascals demon is necessary to balance the order and disorder and life is simply where the order is very high. Why does there have to be a difference? Because the universe can't exist without differentiation. So in any universe there has to be life to help balance the disorder, although we wouldn't recognize it unless we were born there. As it so happens though, this strongly resembles our one universe so it may not be a multiverse after all, but one where fundamental values vary very slowly over great distances.

  • @ThreeEarRabbit

    It could be possible that some "constants" are only due to mathematical phenomena, like π or e. They could be due to the geometry of spacetime itself, like how the angles of any triangle on a flat surface add up to 180º. Then again, this rests on the assumption that mathematics even works outside our universe. After all, every observation we made has been inside our own universe, what's to say the models and equations even apply to others?

  • @EugeneKhutoryansky

    @EugeneKhutoryansky

    2 жыл бұрын

    In my opinion, I think some of the constants could be related to mathematical phenomena, though I doubt it would be "only" due to mathematical phenomena. I think that math does work everywhere in the multiverse, though some branches of math, such as Euclidian Geometry, need to be replaced with things like non-Euclidian Geometry.
