A few months ago, I asked you which multi-tool you recommended for AR owners and you pointed me to the MUT and for that I am very grateful. It’s become indispensable as my daily carry and was exactly what I needed when my buddy’s AR had an otherwise difficult malfunction to remedy while on my last range trip. So, many thanks!

You forgot the other great thing about the knifeless rebar, it's legal to carry here in the UK! I have a surge for work as that falls in the category of "carrying with good reason" but I carry my rebar alongside a 91mm victorinox as my EDC.

Knifeless rebar is great for UK providing combination locking tool set, which with separate non locking blade knife enables legal carry here. As mentioned it is not promoted enough, I discovered it only after several leatherman reviews, outdoor shops in UK stock the standard rebar ? I finally got mine mail order.

Are you perchance in the UK? I'd like the knifeless Rebar to carry with one of my most carried EDC knives, the Spyderco Urban which is great, but it doesn't come with a pocket clip nor is it that easy to add one.

@@simonh6371 ....I carry the REBAR in an "ALPAKA" pouch that allows me to carry the bit kits and other tools. I have modified my REBAR to fit a pocket clip and also the bit adapter from the SURGE. I also have the Spyderco URBAN and modified both the URBAN and UKPK with carbon fibre scale inserts (1mm each) to thicken the grip. Both Spyderco's are HHs (so yes I am UK).

I never even looked into the MUT, and I would have never guessed it had a saw of that length! It looks comparable to a SAK 111mm saw length. I too really like the P4, and I found it easy to mod it (make the awl/reamer into a true awl/reamer). I just could not get past the tools flopping out of the handle when you opened the pliers, or the pliers failing to disengage after doing a hard squeeze on them. Thanks for sharing!

I prefer one-handed opening and closing a Charge+ blade but you make a good point. Free P4 is easier when using your left hand. My only gripe is that the mechanism for closing is a bit awkward in comparison.

The Rebar without the knife is a great multitool when you live in Europe where there are very strict law’s against carrying a knife in public (in many countries). I live in Sweden and carry a multitool almost every day never had a problem on the country side but in a dens populated area there is a large likelihood that you get in trouble with a blade on you.

Also besides not having pliers it gives you most if not all of what you usually need daily. The skelatool is another great tool I've found myself starting to love. As a Project Manager of a construction company, and avid outdoorsman, I love my P4. On the job site it’s tough enough if I need it. In the office it’s a great fidget toy. Outdoors I find it the perfect toolset. Seems like the file, the lack of the “pointy-ness” of the awl, and the bit driver are it’s biggest complaints. I’d like to see bit driver and pointy awl, but I love full serrated blade and big scissors. Seems like with the Arc I won’t be able to get bit driver without losing the serrated blade for the full size file. Maybe magnacut is so good you don’t need serrated?

I always carry a separate knife (multiple in fact; I am using one exclusively for food related stuff for hygiene reasons) but I don't necessarily mind the extra blade on a multitool. That's the one I will use for "trash" jobs like cutting card board to not waste the edge on my main blade.

I was one of the doubters on Leatherman and the whole made/assembled in America. That they lost a bunch of lawsuits by their customers. So I did my own research on Leatherman multi tools and knives. All their multi tools and knives are 85% manufactured in the USA except the all the files they came from Europe, the Pliers which mostly made in Mexico (some are made in the USA) and fasters no country listed. They have been sued by their owners (maybe other manufacturers?) about the made in the USA. Leatherman has never lost a lawsuit bought against them because they are 85% or higher made in the USA. Now this is sticking point almost all of their accessories are made overseas (China) except the files which I already have said are made in Europe. Now you hear Berry Sheaf Compliant with the exception of the MOLLIE sheaf all Leatherman’s Sheath’s are made in China. I know I have said things in the past and I was wrong. I also went through one of their competitors multi tool and knife line out of 362 multi tools and knives that they sell it are split between all made in the USA 181 products in the USA and PRC & Taiwan 181 of their products are made in overseas. Their sheaf’s if it is MOLLIE or for a multi tool or knife being made for the USA are made in the USA and all their leather sheaths are manufactured for them by companies in the USA. So I opened my big mouth and put my foot in it with checking and going by hearsay. For anything to get The Made In USA it needs to be 75% or above and for Leatherman multi tools and knives they all meet that criteria with 85% with the exception of accessories and Sheaths. I apologize for stating the wrong things.

I kind of wish I'd bought the Rebar for an extra £10-15, instead of the Gerber MP600 bladeless which I never carry. I then went on to buy the standard Rebar which I can't EDC as I live in the UK, and the Bond after that, with added pocket clip, which I do carry but obviously it lacks scissors and woodsaw, so sometimes I carry that with my Victorinox Farmer X for a very capable but street legal toolset. Honestly, a knife less rebar at about 75% of the size would be great. At that size it could take over the juice's vacated spot in the lineup. And actually I'd love to see the saw give way to a scalpel holder too. Still technically knifeless, but allows me to have a "craft blade". And as a pie in the sky feature give me the powerpint's bit holder. Then maybe you could squeeze in a way to carry 3 bits or so, in a holder a la the victorinox cybertool, instead of the 3d Phillips.

True but the Rebar is pretty compact - I don't own the knifeless version but the standard one so obviously it's the same form factor. Also bear in mind that tools like the saw would be pretty limited in usage at 75% of their size. The Rebar saw as it is, is a tiny bit shorter and a fair bit thinner than the saw on a standard Swiss Army Knife so any smaller and I feel it wouldn't be much use.

I think the knifeless Rebar is also really good for people who want a multi-tool but don't feel comfortable carrying a knife. For example, one of my relatives wanted a tool with pliers, scissors, and an awl, but did not want a knife for working around horses. I got them a knifeless rebar, and I gather they have been using it almost every day for at least a year now.

What do you need a Wood Saw for on an AR-Platform Rifle? That is contrary to the claim of being a "Specialty tool." I am not sure how many soldiers say "Hey--I wish I could carry more weight." I understand people like the MUT, but it seems like an albatross.

Thank you for talking about the P4 being marketed correctly and it's use by the guy on Naked & Afraid. I watched his video on the P4 and it might just be the best outdoors/camp multi-tool in existence. I steered away from the Free series b'cuz of Ben @ TX Tool Crib, but if you're not using in an industrial setting than the magnets aren't a problem and the 1 handed opening & access along w. the more robust tool set is ideal for outdoor survival. Here;s a link to his video, kzread.info/dash/bejne/YqRqlLOzoresYM4.html I really hope Leatherman pays attention to what he has to say, because with a few modifications they could make a next level, awesome outdoor survival multi-tool.
