She is a child. Why can’t she understand that her actions could get her entire clan killed. He’s told her many times but she just doesn’t seem to ever take anyone else into consideration including her family. I love this show, but she’s not developing as a character yet. She’s just a bratty child.

I jst hate when they get a misunderstanding 🥺🥺🥺 it really breaks me down

1. Shaoshang's main weakness is her stubbornness. She doesn't listen. She just doesn't get that her actions could have consequences which will affect others, not only herself. Had Zisheng not provided his family's tiger seal, she would've put herself and him in serious trouble. 2. Crown princess is manipulative. She kept telling Shaoshang sob stories to get her to forge the seal.

I think because her man needs to start punish her now for trouble she causes and show her physically in her face the damage she causes doesn't always give you a forgiveness/VIP escape route, but might end up dead and get everyone around them killed. She likes to push the envelope to see if she can get away with stuff.

💯 The crown princess comes up with bad ideas and instead of sharing the blame she wants to put the pressure on Zisheng to fix it and even drag CSS (the most vulnerable) into it. And I'm getting tired of CSS not listening to Zisheng. She won't learn until she has to suffer some consequences. Her And the crown prince both.

I LOVE how Shaoshang’s maid, cousin and BFF help her to realize how she really feels about Buyi. The maid points out to her how no one else would dare argue with “the cold General” but she does. And that although Shaoshang is brilliant enough to sweet-talk anyone she only refuses to use these methods on Buyi. It shows how specially they treat each other. Qiqi points out that Shaoshang can’t equate sacrificing his own safety to save her with the annoyance of having to wake up early and not being able to drink as much as she wants. Yang Yang points out that “Being in a relationship is all about being sincere and not letting each other down.”

The fact that Buyi had to crouch down in order to grab NiaoNiao by the waist because she’s so tiny made me giggle!

Love 💕 how Buyi’s men turn in unison to avoid seeing the Imminent PDA, they know the drill! 😊. Love their conversation Shaoshang tells Buyi, “When I am with you, I felt that I had to compromise and lower myself. But I just realized that you were the one who has been compromising and lowering yourself.” Buyi answers, “I’m at fault too. I was wrong for trying to control and restrain you when I clearly love how reckless and fearless you are…I like the way you are ❣️. Shaoshang replies, “From now on I’ll do my best to treat you well until you feel annoyed. When we grow very old and all our hairs turn grey I’ll never forget this day when I recall the days you treat me very well .” Buyi seals it by asking, “Shaoshang, let’s marry sooner, shall we?” To which Shaoshang smiles and nods. ❤️❤️❤️

I think those guards also want LB to be in a good mood for their own safety and quality of life! 😅 I think the bad guys also would prefer LB to be in a good mood. You recall those bad guys the last time he had to go on a mission instead of visiting CSS. 🤣

From the "tiger seal" presentation alone, Shaoshang should already realize the gravity and seriousness of her action, as well as what Buyi jhas done to protect her. She should now reflect on all these and listen to Buyi when he warns her about anything. These situations are not as simple as she thinks. If it had gone sour, she has to know that everyone she holds dear, her family included can be held responsible and be put to death. She has to learn from this. Oh, how General Ling Buyi loves Shaoshang.

​@Bai Ma 2 things happened here. First, Shaoshang knew Ling Buyi came to her rescue again. And it is not just about the fact that he loves her, but Buyi avoided the deadly penalty on Shaoshang and the Cheng family. This is more than anyone can do for her (not even the CP, Crown Princess and empress can save her and her family) while at the same time saving the Empress, the CP and the country from chaos and possibly dethroning the emperor. Second, because Marquis Yue instigated the test, now Buyi knows who is responsible for the lost Tiger seal. The cousin of the Crown Princess, whom Buyi declared inept before but was put into position by CP was bribed to hand the seal to Marquis Yue.

Yeah but it must be difficult for her too. In her life outside the palace everyone is simple but inside the palace everyone & everything is complicated. Every action she takes has several consequences. Ling Buyi always tells her not to trust anyone. Also, her main dream was to lead a life of freedom where no one would tell her what she should do but now she is stuck in a palace full of rules & conspiracies.....where these princesses bully her for no reason & she cant even protect herself like she normally does. She just has to adjust & take everything in..

She's 15....we all know how teenagers can be. A lot are selfish, emotionally immature and believes they are right about everything. Also, Niao Niao is a classic case of a child with abandonment disorder. So, it's partially not her fault for doing certain things that disregards others and consequences. But yes, right now, I definitely agree that he's too good for her.

OMG, Crown Prince! 😳. The one thing LBY told you not to do and there you go and do it. Bye bye tiger seals. I love how Ling Buyi just knows what Shaoshang is going to do to help the CP and the Empress. And how he is willing to sacrifice anything to protect her. They are so awesome even apart, together they would be unstoppable!

Crown Prince needs to step down. He obviously doesn't have the mindset or stomach to shoulder this much responsibility. I feel bad for LB who will have to belp CS out and Crown Prince out. I would have been fine if he lost his status over this. Though it does surprise me that the there are no consequences for the solution to this problem.

And usually I wouldn't be all 'do it for the crown,' but he's so bad at it and he's proven that he'd rather have the crown than the woman he loved. I guess we agree with each other. 😄😄

I know she is tiny but the complete lack of effort with which he picks her up and walks away with her in one arm is hilarious and awesome!

I died of laughter when those guards turn their backs when ling buyi and Niao Niao was too close 🤣🤣🤣

How many gestures does Ling Buyi have to make for Niao Niao to realize her feelings. She took 2 min to decide to mary Yao but here Ling buyi has consistently helped her, can provide for her, stood up for her and somehow that's not enough for Niao Niao. The moment he walks aways from her, she is suddenly going to want him.

She wanted to marry Yao because it would be easy to control him. He let her do whatever she wanted and allowed her to have the one thing she feels she's been denied and that's freedom. When it's easy like that there is no need to put much thought into it which was why she decided to marry him so quickly without hesitation. Ling Buyi is a different monster entirely and she at 15 with no prior experience is having a hard time with it. Also it is not her responsibility to love him unconditionally just because he does all this stuff for her, alot of it without asking or discussing it with her like the whole asking to marry her in front of the emperor. grand gestures dont guarentee you love and loyalty immediately. hate that people are always so quick to shit on the FL for having normal teenage emotions

Inspite of his lack of poetic words, Ling Buyi's love for Shaoshang is pure, sincere and selfless. The honesty part is not complete yet, but he really cannot reveal all these to her for fear that she will do something again that will put her life in danger. Buyi's Achilles heel is Shaoshang. He cannot risk that.

She doesn't really know what love is or whether she really loves him. She says this several times. Many in the audience want her to understand that BuYi adores her, but at this point, she's incapable of understanding. From her experience, love is letting her be "free" of the bullies. Love is being allowed to eat whenever she wants. Love is not being criticized and be told she is worthless or useless or not capable. Now, you and I might think that's a stupid way of equating love, but there you have it--it's how this character understands it from her viewpoint. It's only when QiQi out and out told her there is NO comparison between not being allowed to eat more AND having her life saved several times that Niao Niao has a lightbulb moment. It's also noteworthy to see that the several times LBY tells her he would protect her, she gives him the biggest smile. This is because Niao Niao, in her then-capacity, understands what that means and equates that with LBY expressing his love for her.

Agree with the rest of his love not guaranteeing hhim immediate returns, but she has to at least, respect him and not take that love. For granted. The characters is deeply flawed and I think that's okay. Love isn't always about how much you deserve it, but I think it's okay for the audience to acknowledge how flawed she is too. A male lead would not have been given this much allowance by the audience, tbh.

I feel so sorry for Buyi and his mother. can you imagine going through that day after day after day...? Her having fragmented memories/trauma and him having to bare seeing his mother this way.... my heart aches.

At this point I am so frustrated with FL I can't even handle it. She wanted to prepare a fake seal just to help incompetent prince who basically wants to rule a nation by nepotism. And all they say about her is how smart she is. All I can see is her being shortsighted. With here actions she can harm whole nation not to mention getting ML reputation tarnished and her family getting exiled. And how she takes a pride in herself for being a good judge of character it takes just a little kindness from someone and she no longer have regard for those who really support her. Hope the ML can teach her some sense because at this rate he is going down with her.

Its lucky that Niao Niao has Zisheng to protect and watch over her. He is so smart.. he knows exactly what's going on and who to watch out for..

zisheng doesn't know how to express his love for her except doing the way of the military (protecting) and she doesn't know how to receive it because it's a new feeling she hadn't known. i loved how the guards turned in unison to give them privacy.

The crown Princess is manipulative. She's not as innocent as she makes out

Yes and the Crown Prince, as good a son as he is, unfortunately, is not fit to rule. The acupressure is right when she said that the CP's benevolence and kindness is good as sn ordinary person, but not as z ruler. He is indecisive, he practices nepotism without merit and has a general weak personality.

His love for her is beyond too much. No matter whose fault it is, he is always the first one to take a step towards her. But niao niao shouldn't take him for granted. She should understand that listening one's advice doesn't mean that person is trying to restrain you.

Ling Buyi's mother is a really great actress. The scene when she said she was 16 was flawless.

Ling Buyi will always protect Shaoshang no matter!! I love when Ling Buyi says “When I clearly love how reckless and fearless you are”! Let’s get married sooner! Too Cute! 💚💜

The CP never listened to Buyi when he told CP to keep the tiger seal in the East Palace. His indecisiveness again caused him to listen to his wife and took it out of the palace, thus getting stolen. Now Buyi has to save the day because Shaoshang again got involved.

She and Lei Lei are very talented, I still remember how weak and fragile she was in Long Balad and how Lei's Ashile Sun potrays a lot of emotions in his every gest and mimic, it was a very good drama and I love Reba too but I must say that the chemistry between Lusy and Lei Lei is in another level. Reba's most lit chemistry was with Vengo Gao in Eternal Love hihi

I dont watch a lot of dramas but their costumes are some of the most beautiful embroidery I've ever seen in an Asian drama. I'm literally pausing every new scene just to see how intricate the embroidery on their clothes are. Awesome cast, awesome directory, beautiful costume designs. I'm obsessed! 🤍

1) i know NN can't help but get into palace matters, and in the previous case, she interfered to ease Her Majesty. But things like this- when Crown Princess invites her to solve problem, NN should request to not involve her "I'm a commoner pls dont burden me with this" is a simple sentence. She could have gotten herself implicated if CP requested her to say "I lost those" or "I forged those seals". 2) Also, NN needs to realise that Zisheng is the best in his job. She should trust him in the matters where he's already working, like he was working to solve the seal problem. She shouldn't have mingled in this.

Shaoshang made me realize that there is a fine line between assertiveness and stubbornness. It's so interesting because her wanting to be capable of making her own decisions and being in control of her actions were the result of her relying on these traits to survive the abandonment in childhood. But persisting in your beliefs and actions without considering your responsibilities potential outcomes, and the effect on others is immature.

Me: Knowing this is an ancient setting and they don’t kiss that much, but still asking for a kiss at the reconciliation scene 🤗🤗🤗

Niao Niao has such loyal advisors, Yang Yang and Qiqi.

What a disaster it would have been if Niao Niao actually married Yao. With her recklessness it would have been the end of both the families. And the script writer did an amazing job of writing a 15 year old stubborn, reckless character who has no idea she can get all her family killed by even uttering to fake the tiger seals. Imagine what would have happened if they knew those were actually fakes!

CSS took LBY risking his life to save her multiple times lightly. I can't believe that it never even once crossed her mind that if it weren't for him saving her ass a lot of times, she might not be around anymore. It took Qiqi and Yang Yang to talk some sense in her.

That’s why I’m starting to hate little by little her characters in this drama and in many others. I really liked her at the beginning. But she’s always playing the baby no brain woman. If young ladies are watching this, they will think that a woman must behave like a baby towards her lover and wouldn’t be clever. If this drama continues in this way, I’ll boycott it.

Why do the writers want me not to see this awesome drama because I'm always crying and have to rewatch it again 😭 Buyi and Niao Niao deep down have a lot of love for each other no matter what 😍 After talking with the girls, realize she loves him, and runs out to find him only he's right there waiting for her 💞💞😭😍 Oh mom wow that was heartbreaking🥺

The sad fact is .. she don't love the way he loves her... His love is so deep. I can say it by the way he look at her...💖

His love is an adult love. Shaoshang's not there yet due to her age. She's not a formed adult yet, but Ling Buyi will be that push she needed to realize who she is. Their love will bloom equally with time

Don't blame niaoniao, she was never shown love so how can she reciprocate for a feeling she knows very little about, with her ling buyi is patient enough to show her as well as the Empress, now isn't that the tragedy.

That is the constant problem with Shaoshang. She thinks but is shortsighted especially when it has something to do with the Empress or the CP. She doesn't listen to Buyi, no matter how many times he warns her, because it does not suit her own way of thinking which is not always good. Buyi cannot explain everything to her because it is truly not as simple as anyone thinks but she blames him all the time that he brought her into this whenever she is cornered. There are a lot more he cannot explain to her, but she she, at least, has to believe that he is doing it to protect her, as he has always said so. By this time, she must have seen so many things in the Palace that confirms what Buyi is telling her, but she is still reluctant to believe him.

I feel like the crown princess is working with the third prince to have the crown prince lose his position and shaoshang couldn't see clearly that the crown princess wasn't kind at all but she's trying to make her take the blame for their mistake sometimes we shouldn't judge book by their cover and we should take time to see clearly before making a decision

Have you noticed how Zhisheng opposes Niaoniao's actions only whereas Niaoniao judges Zhiseng's entire being and his character? She constantly accuses him of being a cold-hearted and ungrateful person while never trying to weigh why he does the things he does. Whereas Zhisheng is only worried her actions will implicate her and others but never judges her character or intentions and that is where the difference lies. However, Niaoniao has some right to be annoyed at Zhisheng. My boy, you have to explain it to her for her to understand.

He has explained it to her…numerous times ….how her actions can harm the Crown Prince & the Empress AND endanger the lives of others. She’s already stuck her nose into the business of the CP & ended up just implicating him more & the Empress as well. Ling Buyi has explained it to her over & over about the domino effect of consequences within the palace. But she doesn’t listen… She’s arrogant enough now to think that she’s right to CONTINUE to interfere with state/military affairs just to save the Crown Prince, but doesn’t realize that too, her righteous indignation can also harm the lives of soldiers and others. Yet when something happens, she blames her parents (that’s getting old) or she blames Ling Buyi for not telling her everything- even things that involve state/military issues which is none of business.She’s exhausting!!!

@@unamed2516 In my most humble opinion - All she had to do was say “No..” in the kindest way possible & trust her fiancé….period. Shaoshang must learn to recognize how to protect those she cares about from themselves. Just like a parent must learn to tell a child “No” to protect them and teach them. In the end, they just kept screwing up & expecting someone to fix it. How is her helping to cover up their weakness, their mistakes, and discounting how her consequences endangers not only her life, their life, Ling Buyi’s life and the lives of soldiers a good thing? That’s the lesson that the Empress and Ling Buyi was trying to teach her. Her choices/actions have far reaching consequences then she contemplates. But she just doesn’t listen and just goes right ahead. It’s exhausting. The writers could have done a better job of teaching her this lesson - again - respectfully & in my humblest opinion. Many blessings !!! ❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

Agreed. It's a wonderful drama, but she is irritatingly irrational. I understand her background, but her constantly acknowledging her stubbornness, and other flaws, but doing nothing to correct them grates my nerves. This aspect of her is very poorly written, and LBY is a very tolerant human being.

I think your last point is very important that everyone keeps ignoring. Zisheng won't explain anything or teach her the importance of his station. He wants someone to walk beside him but he's too afraid to bring Niao Niao fully into his life by helping her education. On top of that, he's giving her mixed signals about how he wants her to act by telling her she can't go, do, or say things and simultaneously telling her he will protect her no matter what she does. He certainly needs to be more forthcoming with his feelings instead of expecting her to unquestionably fall in line like a soldier.

Shaoshang needs to realize not caring about consequences is a sign of immaturity not an identity

The crown prince is too simple to be a future emperor. He almost handed out infinite power to Ling Buyi last time when he offered to give him the tiger seals. Luckily, Ling Buyi is unambitious and has no resentment towards the crown prince, otherwise he would have screwed him over by taking that power from underneath the prince's nose. Now, the prince is taking the tiger seals to a place far away from him to 'keep them safe'. The seals are safer in the East Palace than anywhere because no one would dare attempt to enter the palace and risk getting caught. In an unknown place, how can those tiger seals be protected? His temperament is unfit to be emperor. Edit: He lost the tiger seals. I'm soooo shocked🙄 Also, I've been getting some green tea b*tch vibes from the crown princess for a long time, but the vibes were particularly prominent in this episode. She is definitely not as gentle as she portrays herself to be and I'm worried she'll manipulate Shaoshang into offending the palace in some way... Someone get her away from my girl

Spot on!!!! He is NOT qualified to be a ruler at all, from even earlier on. His decision-making skill is "nada" and he is bent on nepotism without thinking just because it is family. From the first time I saw the Crown Princess, I somehow knew she is not a good person, so it Ms Lu. Even if he looks obnoxious, the 3rd Prince is more suitable as Crown Prince, as he considers himself a subject, rather than just a son or sibling to anyone.

This is getting more and more serious and interesting.

Shaoshang is putting buyi in a very difficult situation because of her stubbornness and seeming righteousness. She never listens to anything he says even when she sees the result because it does not suit her line of reasoning, which is not always right. Obviously, he cannot explain everything to her because these situations are so twisted and dangerous. She has to trust him.

The way he uses his last memorie to save NN So cute 😢

Yang Yang has the sweetest, most refined voice! She’s just adorable. Qi Qi is amazing for the opposite reasons!

Yang Yang had the potential of turning bad but I’m so happy how the writers changed their mind especially previously when her maids were instigating her to turn bad

Me, too, all five times I have watched it.

Shaoshang and Zisheng are both doing the same thing. Protecting the ones they love and care about. Their lack of communication will obviously lead to misunderstanding but I also think SS has to understand Zisheng can't tell her everything.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it was the emperor who wanted her to stay in the Palace to be coached by the Empress in regards to palace rules. Buyi did not even agree for her to stay there and offered to bring her in and out of the palace everyday. Shoqshang had a glimpse of palace politics, so Buyi told her not to get involved because she does not have a foothold in the Palace and even explained how serious those repercussions are, instead of her helping, she is causing more problems. He told her to let him have her enemies to deal with and just be there to learn. The trouble is, Shaoshang is quite stubborn and does not listen, thinking everyone is just putting her down. She has to get over this or her own family will be the ones to suffer. She is aware of the seriousness of the tiger seal issue, yet, she ignored it again and did something that might cause exile or beheading of her own family. She is still a Cheng, since she is not yet married to Buyi. Is she so dense or too confident because she knows Buyi will always protect her? Then if he cannot find a way, will she tell him again, "YOU brought me here".

I think LB is at fault for keeping her in the dark: if you want Niao Niao in your life (aka palace life) then she needs to know “the rules” or she’s bound to make mistakes. She barely knows basic etiquette and you expect her to function in the ruthless world or royal politics? 🤦‍♀️

Spoiler alert, don’t read unless you’re rewatching the series 😀. I know that a lot of you think that Huo Buyi orchestrated everything he did before his vengeance with Niao Niao being used. But come on, this shows that his love for Niao Niao was legit. He gave up his on unique clan seal to protect what she did to help the crown prince and his wife.

I'm glad Niaoniao has people like her maid, yang yang and Qiqi to advice her.

I like how on this show, some women are choosing not to be vindictive for no reason or rather to keep the piece. Empress and her co-wife are keeping the peace, it's their kids causing drama. The lady meant to marry LBY and who usually serves the Empress is choosing to keep the peace rather than fighting Niao Niao

Is this the first time he calls her Niao Niao? The way he says it is enough to make a person melt. My goodness ❣️

Well, it took me rewatching this to catch that when Buyi takes CSS to meet Huo Junhua for the first time, he actually stated to Huo Junhua 39:42 "Young Lady your nephew is here to greet you". He indirectly gave away information about his true identity to CSS and Marquis Cui, but neither of them picked up on it. I am finding I am picking up on quite a few things I missed with the first viewing. I am thoroughly enjoying it ❣💯%

Ling buyi said this line thousands of times , " I like the way you are " to niao niao .

It's not bad their trying to understand each other , so to avoid future problem . We have two people with different personality, one is cold one is stubborn, always in revenge mode 😁so they need to throw away some character, to be together.. 😎

You do remember she's only 15 years old right? Yes she is like this but I think it is a part of her maturing. I don't find her annoying one bit. He's keeping secrets and she's stubborn because she doesn't understand what's going on. Yes it's a little much with her calling him cold hearted but remember she's only 15 as I said. What were you like at 15, how would you handle this situation?

Also Ling buyi's mother acted well the mad part also Niao Niao got scared

Shaoshang should have already learned from the previous incident that things were not as sinple as she thought, so why does she keep being stubborn although she should already know that her actions have consequences?? It could be thate she interpreted ZiShengs actions to protect her as him thinking she's not enough, thus persists in her actions to prove him wrong. I think ShaoShang being in her teens doesn't let her realize it's literally his job to take care of military affairs and his doubts in her are only natural. So it's selfish and entitled of her to think she could know better. I hope she realizes that others thinking she's not capable is only the starting point of learning and progress, not insulting her as a person. There is a time and place for improvement and growth but not at the stake of the well-being of an entire country. Props to the writers, who have written her as a flawed, immature teen in the process of growing up, portraying her as a real person.

I mean, anyone's life can be tumultuous but shouldn't you trust what the person who knows better is telling you? The person who wants to marry you? How is he going to trust her with his plans if he can't trust her with the littlest details? As per the century she was in, fifteen is not a child. Noyou can't just say she's stubborn and leave it at that, everyone should know when to fix up, that includes her. People are blaming her because here, she's the one who needs to be blamed.
