Mules are amazing. Yes they race - There's the Winnemucca, Nevada mule Races every year in June! And there's the AMRA American Mule Racing Association!

Since they race them at quarter horse distances, maybe most of them are QH crosses.

Just ran mine and my mules first race this weekend. What a rush! Mules are better then horses i can garentee that!

@tabbyBLINK Mules are out of a male donkey and a female horse. A Hinny is a cross between a male horse and a female donkey. I was confused... :') Anyway. Not all mules are sterile.

I agree with her. Mules are usually really stubborn. There's a mule x quarter horse at my barn and she's a complete pain. I rode her when my horse was lame and she barely moved, even with a ton of leg and a crop. I'm not saying mules are completely awful, I'm just saying it's rude to say mules are way better than horses when horses beat them in several disciplines.

@brassbend Yes they do. But the male mules are sloppy at it. But when mules with female genetalia, enter in heat, they act very sweet and funny, so the horses go and mount them. It is not a regular event though.

Mules are typically run in sprints like Quarter Horses so maybe 2 furlongs and that certainly sounded like Denman xD

Meredith Hodges, Charles Schultz's (Charlie Brown's creator) daughter, runs a training and breeding ranch for racing and jumping mules. She uses Thoroughbred mares from the track.

how cute!! theyre so calm. :] unlike alot of the hyper race horses. :] does it matter what kind of a horse their mum or dad were? cuz if one of 'em had a quarter horse mommy or daddy and another had like arabian in 'em its not totally fair, i think.

the crops dont hurt, Ive hit myself in the leg before to see and you would have to be using both arms and a lot of strength to make it hurt lol.

somebody knows how fast is a mule?

People say that, but tell me, how many mules have you worked with? Clearly none! I have worked with countless numbers of horses throughout the years, all different breeds and disiplines, but many horses you find specialize in one event or disipline, they may be capable of more, but dont advance in them. My mule is a warmblood cross. a large mule. but i have him advanced in jumping, roping, penning, and his size and strenght has helped me drag bulls around the feed lot.

Thats impossible,a draft horse as more muscles and thicker bones. there is no way a trained cart mule could beat a trained cart draft. But mules are awesome

I actually somewhat like Myles but I love horses wayyyy more! And horses are better. And Mules are most of the time very stubborn.But mules are really smart:)

with the right tools at hand you can brake the stubbornness out of any mule and attitude wise mules are exactly like horses ... sometimes

FlippinTiffany don’t know much about mules do you? Mules are very smart. More survival instincts than horses. They are smarter. More of a thinking animal. From the donkey side. They are not stubborn. They have to analyze a task before jumping off into it. They can do anything a horse can do. Usually better. They are much stronger and with more stamina. Put another 150 pounds on them and they will outrun a horse. I’ve had horses run into a fence because a plastic bag blew across the pasture. A mule will see it decide it’s not a threat and continue grazing. Don’t underestimate the mule! I have owned both.

I have a horrid question, if mules are sterile are they still born with male and female genitalia? Do they attempt to mate?

a mule can closely be compaired to a Arabian horse ( the common breed i train) For there SMARTS!! A Mule IS NOT STUBBORN they are unbelievabley SMART! They are not pulling up a fight to get into a trailer, they are OUTSMARTING the person thats putting them in the trailer, perhapes you? Or maybe crossing a river, "If i stand and refuse to cross, the rider wil give up and i will win, there for not crosses the river" a horse can simply be tricked into doing something, with treats, traps, a mul(con)

true you can trick a horse to do what ever you want with treat but knowing that your horse or mule will cross a river without treats every time you ask it is way better then know that you have to dismount every time you have to cross a river.

you can breed a female mule with a male horse or donkey but you will only get the father species in return

There's a reason calling a horse a "mule" is generally an insult. :P

People calling a horse a mule is in fact and insult. to the person saying it that is. Now tell me the reason why you would call a horse a mule in the first place? Perhapes long ears? Ok.. not much i can say there. Or the most common on out there, "they are stubborn" AHaha that just makes me laugh. after 5 years training, and working and owning and showing mules and horses. Mules are for infact NOT stubborn. Its a old simple mith said by people who clearly dont know the animal

These mules are garbage compared to the ones racing in Northern California Sarah Nelson will beat them all she Has close to 60 wins and she is so good they even cloned her since she is 12 years old and still winning , the clone is 3 years old and named lil Sarah
