Matt you're the Man! Your technique in pulling out stranded drivers is spot on. We were out in that same road once and it was nearing night time when we came across an elderly couple in their Ford Flex stuck and didn't know how or to who to call for help as they were very frightened . We figured the only logical thing to do was to try and help, now keep in mind that we are in a white 04 Yota RAV-4 with an aftermarket rear locker and descent A/T tires, With only 160 hp. We remembered seeing how you pulled out other vehicles on KZread and we decided to give it try with our tow strap. We gave a couple good size tugs at an angle and to our surprise the Flex popped loose and we helped tow them until they were on a more solid road and could continue on safely. The old couple tried to give us money for helping them but we declined and said if they see a gentleman in a big Yellow Jeep named Matt, give him a BIG THANKS Because we learned watching him and it made us feel really good helping that elderly couple☮

Keep in mind that Matt and his team have kinetic energy ropes. They are designed to stretch and get a good tug without snapping.. a tow strap normally isn't designed to get a run at something like with the kinetic ropes and they will snap and might cause damage! It was very nice of you to help those nice people though. Who knows how long they would have been out there!

You not only show the successful tows with limited problems but also the difficult tows in all their glory and your own comments. You lead by example and you praise your crew in public and even if they make mistakes including you, you also take responsibility. That is the sign of a true leader. Congrats!

Spent 15 years driving dirt roads and bush tracks in Australia as an exploration geologist. Most of the time on our own (me + assistant). Rescue was 50 - 300 miles away so you usually had to be able to get out of situations yourself. The older Toyota Land cruisers were very reliable and unstoppable. Wet weather is treacherous similar to this video. Get off the road or track after rain and you will sink to the axles instantly. Took 2 days to get out of the bog once. After reasonable rain dirt roads are are closed and if you are caught driving on a closed road it will cost you $1200. Pity I didn't have a Go Pro in them days. Love your videos and can totally relate.

I understand exactly how those people get in that situation. One time my son and I went to the woods to check our trail cameras. We parked on dry solid grass field. Just as we started walking away from the truck it began to rain. By the time we got back, our dry field had turned into soggy marsh. It took three other 4x4s and 12 hours to get everyone about a 1/4 mile to the sandy trail out. Everyone that came to our rescue was getting stuck too. And when we free one vehicle another would get stuck. That was a miserable night and most of us had to work the next day.

That guys in the Audi must have had the false sense of security that the all wheel drive Audi would make it. While they have excellent AWD systems, they dont have the tires to go thru this type of terrain. Tires make a huge difference ce and people dont realize the little things like proper tires and wiring down on sand and technique will make make or break you out there. Keep the videos coming. Love the XJ too by the way. I have an 03 Land Rover discovery and I've done my fair share of recoveries but I'm learning some good things about recovery watching your videos thanks for taking the time to post these videos

Much better than the tow I had last week. John deere 6200 2wd with a full manure spreader. I had a breakdown on the spreader at the critical moment when I was hitting a wet spot in the field. Neighbor got my 6110 to tow me with. Bad chain job, but I didn't need a lot of power to get moving. Unfortuatly, he doesn't tow, and he hammered down in mid gearing as soon as I was in the seat. He came to a dead stop, since I was still in park, and bent the 3 point hitch. Luckily, a press was able to work it out.

pull the ABS fuse. even with TC off stability control hinders the tires, as you saw with the audi. no ABS, car cant put the brakes on the spinning tires.

Been a Chevy guy my whole life, but I'll agree with you on that one. That damn 4.0 was bulletproof. Oh its got 250k miles on it? Did you remember to change the oil somewhat regularly? Yeah, you're good to drive halfway across the country in the middle of summer, no worries. Great engine.

The reason why is simplicity. You're not running 4 cams. You've got a timing chain not a belt. Cast iron head/block. It really is bullet proof. Same concept as Cummins.

Matt's Towing & Recovery I know you are the expert and your equipment works but is there a reason why you don’t use heavy duty 4 wheel drive tow trucks or pull trucks? It looked like your yellow Jeep was right on the edge of full capacity on some of those tows. Is it just because you don’t want to spend the money? Just curious.

Jeeze, this is a great watch, I was a recovery driver for 3 years, mainly on slide backs & beavertails, occasionally spec lift. Never done offroad work, just the occasional flood recovery. Looks great fun, the idea of doing a snatch recovery on a road orientated client vehicle is pretty terrifying though, I hope your damage waiver is extensive :D

Yeah and 4x4 alone doesn't mean you can make it through mud like that without getting stuck. Gotta have the right tires and not too heavy of a vehicle like a full size diesel. Biggest you wanna mud in is a silverado/sierra or ram 1500, or a F150/Raptor but the Raptor and jeeps are best.

We had a family reuion years ago in the mountains above Parowan. It rained during the night, making the road in impassable, so we had to take the "back way" to get out. It was pretty slimy and slippery, but we got out and got a hotel in Cedar City. We left a lot of clay in the parking lot and at the car wash!
