Mudlarking A LUCKY PIXIE & Items Used By KINGS
This week we returned to the Thames Estuary. We went looking for tiny metal treasures and found some unexpected but amazing things (well to us haha) We found objects that tell tales of Kings and Queens. Join us mudlarking some amazing history!
We also craft some things with the items we found. One of which is the start of a new huge project :)
We have started a patreon page for anyone wishing to support us.
We also have a Ko-fi account, so if you wanted to support us by buying us a metaphorical cup of coffee it would be greatly appreciated xx

the essence of quietude in these frightened times. i find great solace in your work, enough to cause me quote Leonard Cohen: Suzanne takes your hand as she leads you to the river she is wearing rags and feathers from salvation army counters and the sun pours down like honey on our Lady of the Harbor she shows you where to look amid the garbage and the flowers there are heroes in the seaweed they are children of the morning they are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever while Suzanne holds the mirror...... (i hope i got that right......and thanks. i like judy collins rendition)

Your are such a delightful young lady. I'm sure you must make your mother proud daily. Thank you for another lovely video.
Your pixie looks like Quark from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. (He's an alien Ferengi character who bought and sold merchandise.) You could name your pixie Quark.

The buckle you wasn't sure of , looks like a military strap adjusting buckle on a , maybe rifle strap or other military thing like a belt that held canteens , knives. Sense I can't send you picture of anything maybe you could look up the world war 1 solders in field dress and you will see one.

Cool finds. The little pixie is so charming. The bead was once a beautiful necklace. 😻😻😻
You might be interested to watch the excellent Bernadette Banner (historical dress expert) on her YT channel about corset wearing. She is quite positive about them on the whole. And she is just generally fab at historical sewing. Love the upcoming chess set project idea and also the toothpaste dolls. Thanks for another great vlog.

The apothecary stoppers might make interesting chess pieces.
"Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go Everything changes for the strangers on the shore" By American singer James Taylor, it's the chorus to his song, "Yellow and Rose". I have taken the words literally because they explain, so well, the things we find on the shore. The song is actually about the British convicts who were sent Botany Bay.

I know I'm late to comment on this video, but maybe you could use bottle stoppers as pawns for your chessboard? You could flip them upside down and attach a marble, or a small piece of seaglass of similar color on the tip. Thank you for sharing your adventures! Love your channel ❤
Dear Fleur and Kate, your videos are a pleasure to watch! There is something very special about them, they touch me deeply, in a personal way if I may put it this way. Above and beyond the history of your findings. Having said that, you have no idea how much I would have loved to look at those flints, study them, prehistoric tools are beautiful and a great interest mine. Best wishes!

Lovely finds today, Ladies. That bead is beautiful and definitely my favourite find from today. Fabulous start to the K&C chess set. Your chess set could be glass vs. metal. You could use the glass bottle stoppers as pawns since they are a very similar shape and size to each other.

And I loved the chess piece! What a great idea!
Wow, what a lot of metal pieces. Great lark.
A map with postage tags attached would be interesting
Love watching you Mom and Oscar. His grin melts my heart. I love all the info you give.
The triangle object you found maybe a clip for fitting suspenders through. Usually higher up on the back. Made of metal or even plastic.
I love how creative you both are, and I feel inspired by your craft projects. Maybe you could use glass bottle stoppers turned flat side down, for the pawns of you chess set. Maybe glue a cod marble on the top. Black could be green stoppers, and white could be clear. Just a thought. I’m sure whatever you make will be fabulous.

The item at 50.00 reminds me of dress clips that ladies wore at their neckline. Often with sparkles!
H Poole and co are the inventors of the Tuxedo as far as I remember
Love from the old lady in Texas God bless you alway
The pawns could be tooth paste lids with cod marbles on top. You find plenty of both of those items where it might be possible to make enough pieces for your set. Just a thought 💭🥰

I have beads similar to yours and they are called lamp work beads. Perhaps it is one also. You both show such enthusiasm that it is contagious as I watch. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
love your enthusiasm
That big piece of flint is at the very least a blade core. The long groves in the stone are from removing thin flint blades to use as knives or arrow points. It's like a 6000 year old box of razor blades :)
Great finds today
The lead seals look like “ a tiny book”!!!! Nan from Florida
LOVE that chest piece!!!
Very Nice Video, That Pixie is a Cutie Thanks
Wonderful watching! Wonderful finds. Awesome dolls. Have you ever thought of making shadow boxes with wood and nails found whilst larking? You could make a different theme's for each box. Make different shapes and sizes, depending on what your displaying! Could even fancy a box up to display larger broken pieces of china with beautiful pictures. Just my thoughts! You could do ceramics on the boxes with broken pieces, tiles or stock down pretty paper to cover the top and each shelve!

Love the bead!!
on the corset thing. Modern military body armor properly worn, fits like a corset. The chest piece weighs so much that the only way to wear it without being completely miserable is to button it on and have someone else cinch it till it squeezes on your ribs. This takes some of the weight off of your shoulders, which otherwise hurt from having 15+kg of gear hanging off of them. being body armor there is zero stretch, so it's a balancing act between spreading weight, and still being able to breathe.
vulcanized bottle stoppers for pawns!

Stoppers do seem to be a popular choice :)
Such beautiful finds!
Very cute crafting.
The holey brick pieces would be nice for making prints in art journals. The wheel, or frame, would make a fine mud larking wreath . I think the name Kate might have been looking for , when describing the corset metal piece, is garter belt. Have you tried crumbled denture cleaning tablets for the inside of the bottles with openings too tiny for a brush? Oh how I enjoy your videos! Thank you!☺️
I've always thought that collar studs look like pawns. Also, your buckle may have gone to a military webbing belt.
@MudlarkingWithKitCaboodlers
3 жыл бұрын
That does seem to be the consensus about the belt :)
The holey bricks would have been used as a liner around the fireplace to draw air and warm it as a kind of central heating. I just watched a video and they found old Roman hollow bricks out on the mud flats using hovercraft. Wonderful finds 😉

I have only just managed to always remember my glasses haha (which has made all the difference!) :)
Garter belt held up stockings. I could use a lucky Pixie. The wide "Buckle" could have been from some sort of strap to be tightened over cargo. Trucks have modern straps of that sort. They may have had them on wagons.
You two are so relaxing to watch.💕
Lovely finds and great video, thanks Ladies.
