Yes! I was thinking that same thing. Thank you so much!
That's actually a pretty neat fossil! You might expect it's from a lepidodendron (a scaly tree-like fern) because it's in such an old material as shale near a coal seam but the morphology of the scale imprints shows that it's a lepidote (an early bony fish)! It's a nice big imprint too since the fish were only ~30cm long. Notice how the scale shape changes on one side to be more squished. That's where the fish's body curves around so you either have the dorsal half of the middle of one side of the fish or the back of the fish transitioning to the tail of a really big one. I'd guess it's Lepidotes maximus but you'd have to ask a paleoichthyologist to be sure. It has my vote for the window of wonders. Edit: It's shale so it'll degrade in water. Best to just keep it dusted.

That’s really interesting! Thank you so much for the information. We believe the fossils we find here are the shale thrown out from fire coal, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for more! 🥰

@@NorthernMudlarks What an incredible lot of treasures you found. Alex, you've got eagle eyes to have spotted that teensy little lavender bead. Your cat certainly was enjoying the sunshine and grass. My vote for the windowsill of wonders is the lover's ring, key, the Irish pipe and thistle pipe. Hope you both have a Happy Easter weekend. Greetings from eastern North Carolina!

Amazing finds ☺ Pug dog for the window 👍
I'm glad you got the sound fixed. I couldn't even leave a comment. It looks like it could be a handle for a relish/condiment tray.

WOW! THAT RING IS BETTER THEN THE KEY! WHAT AN AWESOME FIND GAIL!
Thank you for taking us with you. And what amazing finds!! The German marbles were gorgeous, but, oh my, the ring with the engraving took my heart. In a close 2nd place, with the fantasy of it, was the brass key. The imagination can take you to so many fantastical places. The tiny puppy is so cute and the thistle pipe is still so crisp and beautiful. What a lovely day!! I'm already excited for next week!! Stay safe out there!!!
Fantastic 👏 👏 I love the ring 💍 your mum found 😀 put that ring on a pedestal in the window seal, Congratulations on your beautiful 1800s and ring 💍 it's my favorite !!! You two have made a killing this day, O yes, I almost forgot !! Alex, your pug nose puppy 🐶 needs a pedestal as well, and in the window it goes !! Love it 😀 this video made me feel so happy !!! And so much fun, see you next time !!!
The pug, thistle pipe, and fossil bark (we find very similar in sandstone where I live) are my picks this week. The grouping of wonky bottles also look so lovely together.
The way they make tiny glass beads is amazing. They pull the glass out until it's very thin then quickly wind it around a pin rod. This creates the tiniest of beads. Incredible.
Love the sponge wear all around the dandelion ❤ I do think the little pug deserves a window seat 🥺
I love watching your adventure. hearing all the stories and learning about the history behind the finds. xx
It was fun to watch! Great finds 👏
You both find the most beautiful things Thankyou very much.
That is a clock winding key that you found. The coal fossil I think is either from a plant or a reptile skin. A cake stand handle is what one of your finds looks like to me. Perhaps the ceramic pug needs a place in the window. Was pleased this video became viewable. Lying in bed on my birthday morning having breakfast watching the Northern Mudlarks. Yeah! Thanks.

Wonderful finds :) I vote for the little dog figuring.
My pug, Poppy, was curled up sleeping on my lap while I watched the video and I startled her awake by shouting “Awww, it’s a pug!” when you found this week’s wee animal. 😂 So I must vote for the pug. Also loved the fish fossil, the sweet ring, and the thistle pipe. Good pickin’ site, ladies!
Fantastic finds once again ladies! I think the wedding band has definately earned its place in your window this week! The long handle type thing eith the loop at the top looks like the top handle off a cake stand to me. I've made a few myself and the modern ones are very similar looking, it would be interesting to see if it has a thread inside at the bottom of it. Thank you for a lovely virtual trip out once again to your mystery foreshore ladies x
Wonderful video! I vote for the beautiful pipe with the leaves on it for the window!
I love the amount of respect and love you show each find! Lovely!

For her finds but not the beach. Who breaks a cod neck glass bottle to get the marble and leaves the broken glass on the sand?
Go again! Go again!!! For the window, the pug and the Irish pipe!!!! Thanks.....wonderful fun!
Great video as usual. I think the ornate item with a large loop is a handle for a triple plate standould would screw into the top plate with other pieces of stand between each plate screwing inbetween the stand pieces and the centre of each plate. I'm sure I saw a small hole in the other end. 😊

Love the thistle pipe and the little pug figure are special. Thank you for taking us along.
The four unusual four pipes were interesting especially with the information you found. The little pug is a darling. I liked the second marble in the row. With the chip out of it, the colors in it are more vibrant. Thank you for taking us along. God bless.
Lovely lark with you ladies as always! The pug is precious and deserves a place in the window! I love that you are thinking about melting the knackered marbles- that will be fun to see! Thanks for all the joy and wonder!
I am addicted to your videos. Can't put them down. Wish I was there with you.
It’s so hard not to try to reach through the screen to pick something up. When you asked us if we could spot the find, I thought you were reaching for the blue bead a foot to the left of the pipe. So many things to choose for the window, but I’d choose the ring or the pug. I loved your kitty posing by the beautiful sponge ware pieces. I’m glad you were able to save the video!
Thank You!!

I watched the whole video without sound! I even was able to identify a lot of the treasures you found from seeing your past videos. I found the silent video charming but I missed you giggles and sounds of joy at finding your treasures. I am so glad to be able to watch again, this time with sound, and find out how many items I got right! 😅 Please stay safe and be careful! ❤️❤️
Love the kitty appreciating the spongeware! That tiny dog is amazing, it needs to go in the window along with the thistle pipe, that is really nice too... The key is quite mysterious, can't wait to see what it unlocks next week.
So many fun finds!! I like to look with you. I’m always thinking you’re going for one thing. But then you come up with something else. It’s so much fun Treasure Hunting with you.
Yay finally got sounds! Much better.

Oh great! We still have no idea what went wrong before!
What a lovely exposition on the brass ring! I believe the fossil is Lepidodendron, one of the common tree ferns of the Carboniferous period, when much of today's coal was formed. It had a scaly bark often mistaken for reptile or fish scales.
I love that key...it looks like there's a heart-shaped center...and the 'love ring'..
That headless doll would make such a fun little vase!
Another great video. Can’t wait to see the find of a lifetime next week. I think that little Pug dog should have pride of place on the window this week
Awww..the little puggy wuggy is so cute
Thank you for inserting beautiful little bits of contemplative nature scenes into your videos!
Trash or treasure? Treasure or trash? It’s all the same in Gail’s 🙌🏻. I’ve seen you two lovely artists turn all sorts of things into beautiful objects, so nothing is rubbish. I get terribly excited by little frogs just now. My husbands friend arrived with a bucket 🪣, inside was a frog for my pond. ( we are in NZ) I could not have been more delighted if he had arrived with flowers & chocolates (which is saying a lot as I’m a confirmed chocoholic). So treasure is always in the heart of the finder. The groove in the pipe is just heart wrenching. A direct link to the past owner, although I cringe at the thought of damage to 🦷 teeth, throats and lungs. This morning we went to the funeral of a friend who died of esophageal cancer - smoking related - too, too early. I’m glad we know now, and the pipes are an historical item of curiosity. How many of the pipe smokers went too early? So sad. Another fantastic, interesting video. Thank you 🐣😊🌟😊🐣
Love your vids they are very educational xx
Beautiful finds! Amazing pipe the thistle leaf such great detail! I vote for that and the German marbles and the wee dog for the window display! I think your handle was either from a baby's rattle or a bell that one would ring for service if one was confined to a bed. Your fossil is quite amazing, I too think it was from a fish, awesome detail! Love the doll heads, makes you wonder what the rest of the figurine would of looked like. You should cast the thistle leaf pipe, really is a beautiful leaf and pipe! As a artist I love the old compass! I wonder how many children wrote on those slate boards and daydreamed while they learned to write their thoughts? I would find it very hard not to dig and sift that area for more treasures of the past. Lovely video!
Brilliant collection today! Fascinating! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The little dog is so sweet for the window ♥️
I vote for the tiny pug dog for your weekly window. Thank you and carry on!
I could watch you two Mudlark all day. You find some really great things. I don't know how you are able to stop and leave. You are both just lovely and enthusiastic. ❤🇺🇸

YAY!! It’s back!! I was so sad that I might not get to watch a new video by my favorites!! Much love from the USA!!
Love the squirrel china plate shard. :)
The pug is what I choose !🦋💛🦋💛🦋💛🦋💛🦋💛
Oh my goodness that tiny Pekingese or pug dog is adorable 34:46 It’s like a miniature version of those classic Staffordshire figurines. And the Adult kangaroo/wallaby with the baby Joey is beautiful and I suspect very unusual too. 38:25 the nail clippers, as we know them today were first manufactured in the mid to late 1870s. So those nail clippers just might be a lot older than you think 🙂
LOVED THAT KEY GAIL!

Love from the old lady in Texas may God bless you always and forever
Well you found some really lovely finds on this lark ladies. I adored the key all green and weathered. The thistle pipe was beautiful and so ornate and the little pug dog was so charming. I also fell most of all for the ring. I found it so sad that a treasured possession which stood for so much in someones life, ended up in the bin. Lost, but now found again. I'm looking forward to your next episode. I'm excited to see what you found . Xx
i love the sound of bone being used in wind chimes, so the bone handles and all could be hung from antique chains and the noise is so pretty, dense. and secretive.
Beautiful poem Gail!!

Hello Ladies, the very very tiny seed bead is what we call a “charlotte” as they are the smallest seed beads used. I use them all the time in my jewellery work. The metal handle I use to have something like it on a afternoon tea cake platter which you would hold out to your guests to let them help themselves to a small cupcake.😊😊 Maybe one day when I finally get back to the UK I might just go for a fun time mudlarking myself when I return home to the Shetland’s 😊
the little tiny cute dog...💜💜
I really admire the different spongeware designs, especially the purple one this time!!
Loved the dog,and thistle pipe, both for window.

You two are a treasure.
I love all the spongeware, and of course the little dog. In the window, though I'd like to see the thistle pipe. You always get so many great finds, it's hard to choose just one. I'm waiting for you to make another spongeware video. I'd like to see you stick to the old style designs though. I've never seen anything like that here in the States. I love that it's regional. Good day mudlarking, Girls!
Nice seeing all your finds on Pipe Bowl River. Loved the marbles and thistle pipe bowl. Some lovely finds for the dolls house xx
Loved all finds today!
Love the green key Gaikl!!
My vote for the WoW.....the ring, the Thistle pipe and the pug dog. But I really love the key and the shape fossil as well. Much love from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA! 🥰🥰
Hi Gail and Alex. Great video. Thanks. Loved the little pug dog, such a cutie, but not half as nice as darling tabby cat at the end. I just love her. Haven't seen Schwoo or cats much lately. Love to all. Xxxx
What a fantastic mud lark the pug figurine would look good in the window and the Scottish thistle pipe . Thanks for sharing your day with us 🥰
❤️❤️❤️Love watching your videos and the stories you tell about your treasures, like your lover’s ring. Your voices are soothing and pleasant.
I so enjoy your videos. The music and your photography is wonderful, along with the history and stories you tell of the treasures you find. I too love the bits of sponge ware you find. Lot of pipe bowls found this time especially the thistle bowl. My father is from Scotland. I think your little pug should go on the window sill. Have fun on your next adventure I will be watching.
Hello from Northern California! I think the thing you found at 12:37 is the top part of a multi tiered serving thingy....you know, for serving tea sandwiches & scones & petite fours at afternoon tea. There would be 2-3 pretty plates ( or silver) separated by metal rods & your piece would be the top part enabling one to pick up the whole stack to move it. Well... that’s my guess. I have a couple myself. Thank you for bringing us all so much JOY, you two women are absolutely delightful & you have brightened my days Thank you 🐾❣️
Love it all, great job and music !!
I have to say that your videos are a pleasure to watch: fine photography and filming; lovely music; your two cheery, excited faces; and, finally, a load of lovely finds! Keep up the great work, Gail and Alex! You made laugh with the skull 💀 atop good ‘ol Barbie’s head!😆
