Magic is definitely different from back then, 10 years ago, like with the RTR, Theros and Tarkirs Blocks, it was nice, having new worlds to explore and get deeper into the lore and events of the settings. now, it really feels like it constant novelty, and with NEON and Capenna, it was alright, for some reasons. but now with the Omenpath era, I really hope it's not gonna last and return to before that. back then, it was really something new and interesting whenever they had a new setting presenting itself, with modern master between them to cather the eternal formats. Now, it really feels like a continuous bombardment of new magic info (which i would not be complaing back in the day..., but now, i'm in my late 20s and it's getting tiring) And they bombard us with products, leaving us no time to rest and prepare for the next set. It's like our job was to buy and consume their products (i'm a casual player for now, wasn't always like this). And it's like we continually on the rush at work. anyway, sorry for the vent, had to let it out, have a good day.

Not a rant AT ALL. That is a very measured, PERFECT response to what is happening. I am constantly cranking out videos lately about MTG news because of the endless releases, its wearing me out. Please continue to use my video comments as a venting/ranting space, its good to let that out.

Always love Volrath. I slipped back into the game for casual commander, and sure enough, there was a new Volrath and I roll that... ...and I'm with you. Good lord, sometimes I can't make game night at the LGS. And if I miss one week, I feel like I missed another release entirely.

Hate how fast everything is releasing, but one good aspect for drafters is that if you dislike a set it's fine since it'll be gone in a few weeks.

I remember when Bank of America told Hasbro in 2022 they were going to hard on the sets and secret lairs... It's only gotten worse since then.

@@BensonMTG Yeah, happened at the end (November) of 2022 with those 30th anniversary, $999 bundles. Bank of America's first warning that heading into 2023 their stocks were down 5% and they were killing their golden goose.

I'm out of buying MTG products, Hasbro can suck it, if I need a card for my decks I just use a sharpie on basic land again.

@@BensonMTG Honestly it's a combination of all the factors. It started with the lame ending from War of the Spark over to how the Phyrexia Story has been ended. There is no time to digest Set thematics anymore, I exist on a middle range income so I cannot divest too much of my money for something like a TCG so I have to carefully time when I can buy them. So by the time I can buy another set of boosters I am already 2 expansions behind in less then 6 months. Power creep has always been there but due to the accelerated release rate it is getting out of control, every set has pushed cards which become must haves and spike to insane prices on the secondary market. WOTC getting rid of recommended pricings so we have Commander precons reaching 200 dollar pre order prices before being released etc. It's a lot of things but these are the major sore cornerstones for me. It just doesn't feel good spending money on this anymore.

I just refuse to buy anything anymore. MtG is no longer a competitive game, it is a casual Commander game. I don't hate Commander, I played EDH in the past. But the release of Commander support is egregious now. We are seeing cards that should only be played in Commander be played in competitive constructive formats, because of the amount of power they add. Yes, we've had power scaling issues before, but now it is ridiculous. Nadu is the current problem. Its design space is already ridiculous value in Commander, but its inclusion in Modern is all around unfair. And the amount of releases to sell to every player, is what fuels this new power curve. The faster they release, the faster they have to climb in power to appeal to players to buy the product.
