As I understand it, Jo Canterbury (Betty) had some professional theatrical experience, so John Humphries (Mikey) thought it would be good idea to take his acting cues from her. So the weepier and more hysterical she got, the weepier and more hysterical he got. And hilarity ensued as a result.....

Actually this movie also has one of my favorite riffs. "Well that went well I thought, I reached out to other human beings and I was not slapped down".

"You know the rules, how did you get unchained?!" STILL makes me laugh all these years later. I'm just waiting for the right moment to use that line at work. Mikey is one of those characters you NEVER forget, gotta admit.

As ridiculous as this movie is, there is one thing I found endearing, and that is the way Jimmy looked out for Mikey. A lot of teen movies would portray the older, popular sibling as constantly annoyed by the...well...Mikey sibling, but that wasn't the case in this movie. I thought it was a nice touch. And I didn't steal no bike, neither.

Such good memories watching this with my friend Buckley (RIP). We even used to jam and play the theme to Teenage Strangler as a jam at shows.

The real Mikey was at the first MST3K convention in Minneapolis.

Those Mikey glasses needed to be a running gag, somehow. lol

I love Mikey, but I must say watching these clips is bittersweet. My Dad and I would watch MST3K back in the day, and Teenage Stranger made us laugh like crazy. My Dad died at the end of May and MST3K will always remind me of the good times we shared. I love you, Dad. And also, Jimmy didn't steal no bike neither!

"Now the whole ugly mess will come out again!" Hey don't talk about Mikey that way. LOL!

Mikey is like Torgo from "Manos", or Crankor from "Prince of Space" - he's so over the top, the minute he comes on screen you just KNOW they're going to have fun with him.

Mikey makes Troy look like Rambo

It's hard to argue that Mikey isn't the most memorable MST3K target ever. More than Rowsdower, more than the Prince of Space...I see him in my dreams.

Rifftrax needs to revisit this movie! They've already revisited _Killers from Space_ which they originally riffed as The Film Crew. They also revisited _Zombie Nightmare_ which was originally riffed as an episode of _MST3K_.

JESUS!!! Mike Nelson did some of the greatest impressions that I've ever seen! This one is one of the best!! All his mannerisms are just spot on!!

"Pansygram!" Mikey is pretty much me when I was 12. I've never seen this episode, and now I have to.

The Mikey Glasses bit and the Arch Hall Jr. face transformation bit are the best🤣

Yeah, I got blackmailed by pictures of me about that age with the same dorky glasses.....I guess my parents secretly loathed me.

Love this episode partially bc it was filmed in the town I went to college in, but mostly bc of Mikey.

How can there be a Best-Of Mikey? EVERY PART WITH MIKEY IS THE BEST PART!

Here, put this ointment on! MST3K has ointment in many shows, including Hobgoblins and the one featuring John Unguentine KTLA. Unguentine is a burn ointment but you don't see it mentioned in public very often.

I'm generally pretty horrible about guessing which clip they'll show after the credits at the end of the show, but I absolutely knew it would be that one. Laughed pretty hard when I saw it, too.

If it was between just Troy and Mikey, I’d say Troy because he was able to cut himself out of the binding. Between Joe, Mikey, and Troy, I’d say Joe because he knows how to use power tools and stuff but he’s also a crazy psychopath who hides his insanity by building things. Mikey would die first and Troy and Joe would be neck to neck but Joe would get Troy with the bandsaw That’s my theory haha
