    I don't know if you are still online but I wanted to thank you. My class is online and we have NO classroom instruction whatsoever. I am in my first semester and am probably taking my classes out of order but I have to take them based on how they are offered. I have never felt so lost in my life. Finding this video saved my mind!!! I was starting to think I had chosen the wrong field but you have given me new insight and a newfound energy. THANK YOU!!

    Hi, Firstly Thanks for the explanation. Very simple to understand. Did have a question however, For the Planned order release for 800, the body and ink. Would that be the time to factor the EOQ thus increasing the number. Or would one wait until sending out the PO to factor in the EOQ? The larger number ordered say from 800 to 1000 would be noted under the scheduled category for week 6. Hope the question is clear. Please advise.

    Sir, would you mind, why not you make the MRP for the finish product like PEN, May be lead time is zero if you have finished body and cap, but this rule is not applicable for others when it will take time to make the finish product. Thanks.

    Hi, Can I ask if there are defects in the available, scheduled and planned receipts. Which one should I take into account? Like if scheduled is what we will receive, then does it matter that 10% of what we get is defective, so do we put in the actual amount or ignore it? Same goes for the other 2.

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Halim. Most organizations have "safety stock" or extra inventory to accommodate defects or fluctuations in delivery. In addition, you want to work with your supplier to eliminate the defects or find a new supplier. Have the supplier screen for defects so they are eliminated before they show up in inventory.

    I have a question please, if the inventory on hand covers the quantity required for the "parent" and we didn't need p-o-rec or p-o-rel (filling with zeros like the example), do we not need the product after it at all? (for example, if we are talking about the plastic of the body itself not the cap)

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yomna Emad , if you have the inventory on hand, then you do not need to schedule more. Thanks for the question. Ed

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    If you have sufficient inventory, no reorder is required. In real-life, we will have a yearly contract set-up with suppliers to assure a steady flow of inventory. The delivery model of JIT or other pull strategies may be used by the manufacturer to assure supply. In addition, in real-life we carry safety stock just in case the supplier has an issue.

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Fares Ayyad Thanks for your comment. First, just add common parts. For example let us say you use the same screw in multiple sub-assemblies, just feed all sub-assemble requirements into the screw bin. Second, are you able to change the time frame from weeks to days and look at daily needs? I hope this helps. Enjoy.

    Where does the 200's come from at 8:03? I'm guessing that in weeks 7 & 8 you use 200 units each (body) of material to make the pens. Then the 800 is offset 2 weeks to full fill the order for the 1000 on week 8?

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi, the 200 units were existing inventory (and given as part of the problem). Carrying inventory is typical for most industries.

  • @EdDansereau

    @EdDansereau

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi Harsh. You have 1200 units "available" in inventory (3rd line down on left), you use 1000 of these units in week 5, and that leaves 200 units "available" in inventory. So the 200 is simply 1200 - 1000 = 200. I hope this helps.
