As I understood, it gives us the answer When to order the materials, based on the time it needs to arrive, and the time we have to deliver the final product! Hope this helps someone :)

This is too simplified to be useful for MRP users. It's missing low level codes when there are multiple levels in the BOM, the role of safety stock and on order in netting, the ordering policies to determine order quantities and several other important concepts. For someone who is trying to understand the concept from above might be a good introduction, but if someone looks at an MRP screen and sees a "Firm" of "Expedite" message, this video won't help at all.

How many / much to order 'upto' is not an MRP decision. But how much or how many are both MRP decisions. So, if you are ordering parts that are available in discrete units, like say tires - MRP will tell you how many tires to order. But, if you are ordering a non discrete product, say chemicals, then MRP will tell you how much to order. Hope this clarifies Danial.
