I like how "rock or something" is a meme with MRE reviewers

Not a criticism, but an observation. Seems MREs often have weird side items with the entree. They don't pair the items correctly.

Love how your videos end with the final taste test by the boss. Always cute and definitely adds an extra special dimension to your MRE reviews. Cheers

Hey Kiwi Dude these look like pretty complete rations for civilian mres. I've actually tried all the others except for the Xmre brand. There's really not much if any difference between these and the military ones. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos mate. The camera and sound are on point too that's just my opnion but that's some clear shots. Anyways.... Later Mate.

I had an interest in military rations for years and watched other people review on KZread. In early 2014 I decide to try my hand at making the vids and the rest is history. I like the story rations tell. You can get a feel for a nation's economy and culture, plus I love the science that goes into long-life food. Glad you're enjoying them.

Great review. Would have wanted hot sauce w mine. Gundog recently reviewed a sad vegetarian one. Almost everything was chocolate and empty carbs. This one looks great. You have a great sense of humor and the boss is adorable.

Thanks for the feedback. It's been a real struggle trying to get the new setup firing on all cylinders. The Boss is hilarious at the moment trying to say 'suffering succotash' with those gaps.

Great video. I noticed the cam/audio change, super! Got a good chuckle out of the notion that military rations should be thematically consistent. Also, "all I want for christmas is my two front teeth," Do they have that song in New Zealand?

Karl P I once ate a whole slice of the best cake that I ever had and turns out it was vegan! Vegetarien/Vegan food can be sooo damn delicious !

Hey, just want to ask if you live in NZ or not, if you do, where do you get all the MRE rations? especially the New Zealand Military - 24 Hour Ration Packs you got like 3 years ago. I tried google but got nothing out of it. the best thing i can get is this XMRE rations..

Nice review as always!. I'm guessing the small black square on your wood board was caused by an esbit stove?

That happened to alot of people including myself, which is how i noticed it right away. While watching your video, I was thinking Hey...that small black square is the exact same size as the black square on my work bench lol Anyway...love your reviews and love how you keep the boss happy :)

I've had the veggie taco pasta, it was one of my favorites.

Thanks. Trying to find the sweet spot with this external mic. I'll up the levels a little next time.

The thing is that in the U.S we refer to drinks by their color, specifically Gatorade(The commercial version of electrolyte beverage base powder). So the tropical punch has a relation to Red Gatorade in flavor and appearance. I'm not sure why they do this, but it could be to comfort the soldiers with a little piece of home.

Kiwi dude I have an awesome Idea you should try. Put normal drinking water in a hot beverage bag and put it in an FRH and then use the hot water for coffee.

I've found that the veggie meals tend to fill me more then the normal meals do ( I usually shun veggie stuff, because they don't a : don't taste good, b : don't fill me...). I guess the manufacturer has found a way around that :) I love those fold cups, I've got I guess three of them ( sand colour, dark green & white ), and I've been using the sand colour one for over 23 years and it still is in great working order ( never go out on trips without one ) 'cause it tucks neatly into my Trangia 0.6 L kettle together with a spoon and portions of tea, coffee & sugar. Just a great piece of kit to have/ use.

Fun fact: the Grape flavour is based on Concorde grapes, which have a very distict taste and vibrant purple colour that lead to the assumption that all grape/purple flavours are artificial.

I always wonder when I see such MRE videos how many of them do soldiers take with them ? And isn't supply a mayor issues when you are in a jungle or mountains where no vehicle can access the region?(besides helicopters and such stuff )

I wonder if any of this food is irradiated to extend shelf life or is it just the same as you would get out of a can.
