I never saw the First Strike stuff in Iraq because i got there in 2006.The Army finally got smart after Panama,Desert Storm,and Somalia to make it more light weight for us "Grunts".As always we always had to "field strip"MREs to get what we need and pack it into our assault packs for 24 to 72 hours of operations.

Awesome channel Kiki Dude. Love all your MRE reviews and seeing what some MREs from other countries are like. Hope to see more, especially with your taste tester in this one. She definitely liked the apple sauce. Cheers from America.

we buy these packets of tuna in the grocery store and they are not cheap. I'm enjoying watching your videos from earliest to latest and spent the entire weekend doing so. :-)

I love how the gum says "proven safe and effective." Somehow I find that statement very concerning.

You need to shake the beverage thinggie up and down while holding it in the middle. Sort of like a shake weight.

Kiwi, dude, don't fret too much about the tortillas. All too often, sadly, the end coming split right down the center of where the were folded :( . The fact that you were able to get even one to come out of the packaging without being broken too bad is a bloomin' miracle.

Kiwi Dude Heh-heh, you're welcome :) . 'My advice for dealing with these in the future, should get another tortilla in an American MRE? Just chew a fork/spoonful of your main entree, and take a bite off the tortilla and pretend you ate it the way would've presumably liked. This, I find, can help with the disappointment of not being able to roll it up.

Lol... I can imagine that these tortillas have caused more than their share of dirty uniforms as a result of failing down the fold when fully loaded.

Kiwi Dude If that was a bet, I'd say that'd be easy money ;) . I thought you'd get a kick from that mocha bar and the gum ;) . And, apparently, I was right! I've heard the flavor of the bar has a taste that reminds one of espresso. BTW, I was sure there was a package of vitamin-enhanced apple sauce somewhere in the video. You gave a bowl to Crystal, and BOOM, it was gone ! 'Must be more of that "magic" from earlier :) .

You're bang-on with the bar tasting like espresso! I've never seen Crystal so enthusiastic about food before. It was like feeding a hungry Lion. I may have lost an arm if I pulled that bowl of apple sauce away :) She sure made it disappear.

I think she approved of the apple sauce!

Hi Nathan, for some reason I can't reply directly to your comment, but in terms of the next review, I'm not sure to be honest. Unless it's a multi-part review, I tend to leave it up until the last minute and pick whatever 'speaks to me' from the cupboard ;-) I can say that there's some fun ones coming up though.

we have been buying kippered beef snacks in the grocery stores forever but it is not jerky. It is thicker than jerky and it is cut and formed beef where jerky is a thin slice of beef. Mighty tasty though! 😀

If I had to guess, those little crispy bits in the first strike bar appear to be little bits of puffed rice.

Thanks Brandon. Just keep an eye on eBay mate, they pop up all the time. Worth trying, even once, but be warned - you may develop an addiction ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised if all the food were made with the same substance - simply moulded to look like different food

They certainly are in my neck of the woods, and not that easy to get elsewhere either I believe. Was a real treat for me. gundog4314 is a top bloke for sending me that!

Poor choice of words on my part mate :) We have heaps of Tuna in the pantry (though I don't eat it often). When I say 'normal' I'm really meaning the more common meats that appear in MREs like beef, chicken etc..

Just watching your previous videos, can't get enough! I reccomend purchasing these Hotcans and making a review. Here is the link:www.hotcan.com/. coffee lover In the FSR's defense, it's is designed to be lightweight (much lighter than lugging 3x standard MREs) and to be easily eaten on the run. It meets that brief pretty well, so best to think of this ration more as 'fuel' as opposed to 'food' ;-)
