Actually the kid is John Candy's nephew - I know because that kid was me :)

Missed indeed! That was the first cup of coffee I ever made... we hadn't rehearsed that part and I had no idea what to do when I got to the counter. I started laughing because some of the people on set had started to laugh :) Glad you enjoyed it!

I'm not Canadian yet I grew up watching SCTV DVDs. I always loved Mr. Candy. It may be strange to say but he gave off such a loveable and kind vibe it felt like I knew him though I never had the honor. A true comedic legend ♥️

This character had so much potential. John Candy, being a drunk, acting like a scientist, making his naive nephew do simple tasks for his uncle because his uncle is too messed up because he's drunk/hungover, could have been the greatest... ❤

The greatest, most inspirational educational television program ever devised for and presented to children. If not for J laR, there would be no Silicon Valley.

+Johnny Loannidis - I remember the bedtime sketch with Joe Flaherty very well. I was in makeup for hours! I don't recall "Kids can play on the wagon" though - I'll have to look that one up. So glad you enjoyed the Global years! It was fantastic to be part of the show - still so loved after all these years.

This episode was filmed in Toronto, at Global's studio. The two years I was on the show were all filmed there. Afterward, SCTV was shot in Edmonton, but I never went :( That's great that you got to see John in the "Stripes" era.... that's one of my favorites of his! Thanks for sharing your passion for SCTV and John Candy!

John Candy was hilarious. Sorry he left us way too soon. A comedic genius. I used to watch SCTV in the late 70s or early 80s. I thought it was usually funnier than Sat. Night Live. Loads of great skits.
