Join Us & See 10 Players Fight for Supremacy in Supreme Commander Forged Alliance - In the Top Rated Real Time Strategy Games... EVER!
Supreme Commander consistently appears in lists drawn up featuring the top 10 RTS titles ever made. Here's why 12-15 years later, players are still logging in by their 1,000's every day.
This video is the first, in my "once every few months, we'll do things slightly differently, to hopefully appeal to some new players into the game, who wouldn't otherwise have clickd the video"
If you wish to support my work & receive extra perks: / tacticaltakeover
I'm also setting up a basic site to make it much easier to link everyone for sending in replays. It also gives me room to list requirements for replays, saving youtube video description length.

The music featured in todays cast is provided by Epidemicmusic - You can see all the music I like to use, as well get a 1 month trial on me by following the link: share.epidemicsound.com/hymwil
(if you do deciede to keep your membership after the trial, this channel will also benefit from a small discount on its membership)
If you enjoy todays game - leave it a Thumbs Up. Comments are like gold dust for me. You can put a smile on my face, or make us all laugh, be impressed with your insight on some FAF skill - I learn many things here (eg ground firing 4-5 stacked donuts, insta-kill enemy ASF that go for the 'nut).
Finding out you enjoy these casts MAKES MY DAY. I also appreciate comments from people who point out where I'm going wrong, and what I can improve. They are responsible for many of the positive changes to the channel.
I've setup a way to support the channel for anyone willing to do so. I love casting games, and certainly don't require financial incentive to press record. If people enjoy my video content, and wish to help meet some of the costs involved, then great, and if it ever extends to the point it allows me to devote more time to casting, then the magic really begins. Leaving a tip behind is welcome, not expected. Thanks to Tommy for helping with channel artwork.

Getting Casted:
I'm in the process of setting up a simple website that will allow you to easily reach out submit replays. It will also be able to list all the things that really help.

More information on the Game / FAF community:
For those who like what they see, but aren’t entirely sure if they heard right, yes Forged Alliance is a game that’s 15 years old. You heard right, Fifteen! Kept alive & thriving, thanks to a fantastic team of people (where those words actually mean something). Check out FAForever (dot) com for information & quick start guide. The game is cheap enough on the steam store.
Legal: Tactical Takeover - this channel - found at / @fafcast is my own take as a "FAN / Commentary Channel". Any official FAF assets (including logo, name, lobby or core game) that feature in the making of this video should be seen as an incidental part of casting the game.

Finally, thank you for giving up some of your precious time today, I hope in return I made this hour we've spent a little brighter. Also, if you read this far, you’re something else! Then again, I wrote this far, so guess that makes 2 of us.

The multi-channel audio is not as simple as just uploading 2 tracks into the video (I shoulda seen this coming) - I'm gonna see if I can get around it in a future cast by pretending to use the feature as intended (Multi Language Audio... ) KZread splits treats English, English (UK), English (USA) etc as 3 different languages... If it will let me, you'll then have English (UK) and English. One with/without music. Thanks for understanding, while I continue tinkering

In my opinion TT is now the best FAF commentator on YT. Well done for getting started straight away. I know it's awkward from a commentary pov but with limited time to watch I prefer to skip the early bit otherwise personally. Fair play for having 2 sound channels aswell, that's a lot of effort you are putting in and it shows. Awesome

Thank you very much. I'll definitely consider your comments for the future, games. This video, despite the quality of the game, was actually my worst performing video in every metric for the last ten! I got 2 new subscribers from it (usually get about 25-50) so my plan kinda fell flat

@@fafcast weird that it performed so badly. However, going into this video I didn't know how great it would be, perhaps marking it as an epic would help. Maybe there were no game enders (though aren't 12 enemy chickens on your side of map a game ender?) but I don't remember the last time I rooted for one of the teams as much as in this one. Not to mention a lot of suspense since the last push from nono started no more than 9 minutes before the end of the game and so much happened in the next couple of minutes that only once orange's base was destroyed did I know that team 1actually has it.

This was an incredibly satisfying comeback to watch. Maybe not the most beautiful but it was oh so good to see it. Nono really played the game of his life here and carried his team, though both his remaining teammates also did very well - red won air twice easily and his gunship raid might have been the clutch play to start the comeback, and green turtled really well and applied long range pressure in such a way that the other team couldn't focus entirely on nonos chicken army when their bases were burning. Green's 2 artillery pieces +4 novaxes would probably be enough to win the game alone even if nono only held the line since I guess they could easily break through the shield and eliminate any opposing t3 arty.

_Amygdala_ is latin of greek origin, means _almond_ and designates a part of the brain. It is pronounced A (proper a, not english one!) - meeg (the y is a greek style υ) - da - la (again latin a).

Unfortunately most people aren't interested in watching tourneys, because most games (like any) just aren't very castable (at least by my abilities). I'll certainly look for a game or 2 that stand out, and I will definitely highlight those. I'm fairly sure the official FAF channel casts the tournament's in totality.

For what its worth casters should be considered to be chronically unable to id a person by their game tag. I mean cmon imagine trying to cast a game and spending 20 mins figuring out how to call someone to avoid hurting their precious feelings. Didn’t finish watching the game yet, just wanted to see whats up in the comments now that you mentioned it TT, keep up the good work🫡

Getting names wrong is unfortunately fast becoming my trademark, but it's not one I'm proud of. It's as much about respect as offending someone, at least I think so. Hopefully when I screw up next, I'll be forgiven!

We English struggle with Japanese words and names. There's something about Yamato that makes us often prononounce it as Yamamoto. We all knew which player he was referring to. So it's no big deal if the name was mis-pronounced.

I appreciate all the pointers folk give me, on names. Some more critical than others. Perhaps the most truest comment I ever had was "trying to teach northerners to speak properly, is a lost cause" and that comment DEFINITELY extends to player names. I could just say I'm dyslexic and have the easy excuse to hand, but I'm not, I'm just a moron that went to a bad school, that an even worse attitude. I do my best for the channel and players many years later, and sometimes i miss far and wide. I hope that's ok, coz if not, this isn't the channel for you. I always feel bad when someone leaves a comment, saying I got a name wrong, but unfortunately, even helpful corrections I get, will eventually fall through my memory as well.

@@fafcast don't worry, everyone makes mistakes and we are not here to learn proper pronounciation of uncommon words. Though tbf Yamato isn't that uncommon ;) Btw. Gyle is blind and that doesn't stop him from being very entertaining as well so no worries about some minor pronounciation mistakes here and there.

Hi TT. If people are watching this, they are those that love the bygone days (of games like this) and that will in part be to the BS we have to put up with these days with the likes of he/she/it/they. I feel the chances of you offending anyone or getting a comment aginst you are pretty low :D. Great to see your number of subscribers skyrocketing - deserved!

  • @fafcast

Thanks for your wise words. We are indeed from an era where things were a bit simpler (sounds like what old people said 20 years ago!) and, well I could go on, but it's easy to violate T&C's these days, and I wanna be able to bring you a cast again tomorrow, so I won't. Subscribers do continue to climb, although much more steadily than the first 1,200 or so... We gain roughly 15-25 new people on board per cast. Some videos a little more, some a little less. I always hope a few of the new subscribers translate into new players for the FAF community.
