Interesting to see 10 years on, who emerged with any credit from this talking-shop “snow-job”. Certainly Alan Bates, Kay Linnell, and the “Alan” guy from the CWU. But most of all, Iain Henderson who gave the liars both barrels - as a result of which, PO were permitted to terminate his contract. A VERY good man. A word too for Nadim Zahawi - a politician I’ve never much cared for - but who really went to town on the Ugly Sisters. 👏🏼👏🏼

I am disgusted by George Thomson's evidence to the committee here. He should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. Sod the damage to the Post Office brand - the truth of what was happening to these poor subpostmasters is what is important here.

What a smug, evil pair of women they are! Knowing what we know now that by the time they were giving this evidence they knew there were isdyrd with the system and the sub postmasters were innocent makes me sick watching them. They need to be held legally accountable. People died for crying out loud 😡

two of the worst sitting behind van bogan n vennell are the scummy po lawyers, mark davies n chris aujard. the only really decent legal advice came from susan creighton, whom both vennells n alice wahatsit schemed to get rid of.

Paula Vennells : “I could not as Chief Executive of the Post Office put this scheme (Horizon) in place and not do it properly”. Well, you failed miserably love and tried to cover up your failures by breaking the law and destroying innocent people's lives. Your assets should be seized as proceeds of crime and you should face a hefty prison sentence. If this had happened in the USA you'd already be in jail pending trial.

George Thomson is so lacking in awareness he is dangerous. I can just imagine him stood on the deck of the Titanic as it submerged into the waves barking at everyone the ship is robust and unsinkable. The notion that he might be wrong about something he knows very little about (ie, the computer behind the Horizon system) is incomprehensible to him. His stupidity is breathtaking.

Thanks for posting this. It is just what I was looking for. George, the annoying git from The Federation, was obviously just a POL shill. Angela appeared to be dead behind the eyes and robotic. Her boss equally so. Nadhim was the star of the hearing, ably supported by Alan, Kay, Ian, the CWU chaps, Brian and The Chair. Hats off to ITV for accurately condensing this, nearly three hour, hearing into a few short minutes of screen time. The drama was compelling viewing and this 2015 footage is just the same. "I need a simple yes or no answer ..." Watching some of the current Inquiry a couple of POL legal Rods stood out as not providing full and factual evidence. The worst of the two was Rodric Williams who, basically, sought to waste away his two days on the stand by feigning idiocy and constantly referring to his little folders every time Jason Beer KC brought up a document on the court screens. Roddy, literally, blagged his way through two days without giving a straight answer to anything the Inquiry asked of him. As an aside: In 1997, I was in receipt of Housing Benefit from the DSS or whatever they were called back then. I had an issue whereby the payments had been terminated for several months. I muddled along and kept hassling them about the one occasion I had failed to 'sign on' which had triggered this sequence of events. Eventually, I received a cheque through the post for exactly double the amount I was owed. Well, what would you do? I cashed the Giro and was probably 1200 quid up. I'm now wondering if the precursor to Horizon was to blame for my windfall. The timeline suggests that DSS/DWP were using an early version of that software but, pretty soon, rejected it as being unreliable and the Post Office stepped in to take a cut-price pile of crud and roll it out to 40 or 50 thousand branches.
