As a Canadian, I fully agree. We eat, sleep, breath, hockey. Hockey to Canadians, is what Football is to the US. As a female who grew up watching it, the fights are the highlights, besides for the goals of course. It's boxing with knives strapped to your feet. Tie Domi-Goat! Cheers!

You can tell the guy ain't ever been in a fight when he says he would lose all confidence if he got his ass kicked 😂 You realise it isn't as bad as u think and also that 90% of people will do anything they can not to actually fight so just by fighting u have more balls than most 👍

Wrong. You could have 1000 fights under your belt, and it would still suck to lose. Nothing hurts your ego more than being humiliated in such a way. That’s the scariest aspect of fighting even for pro fighters.

I respect any man who can tell a story of him getting humiliated and beat down in front of a bunch of people with a smile on his face. Alot of people never let that sort of thing go and it is quite literally a traumatic thing that haunts them forever. I was always a bit of a wuss growing up, not in a way that I let people disrespect me but I definitely never wanted to fight and I would literally shake anytime it got to that point lol Im a small dude but for the most part, people didnt really mess with me. I got in maybe 3 or 4 fights, one in elementary school, 2 in middle school and 1 in high school. I won the first two but the third, I ended up running away from once I realized I was in over my head 😂 and whats funny is it was the only fight I didn't feel scared about when it started even though I definitely should have been hahaha it was at the neighborhood bus stop after school when I was 13 years old with one of my neighborhood "friends" lol I was probably 5'4ish at the time 120 pounds and he was the same age but already nearly 6 foot and over 200 pounds. He wasnt muscular but he was large. And he started running his mouth to me for no reason so I talked back. Then he threw something at me. So I walked up to him and I half hit half shoved him in the chest and he barely budged, then he shoved me which granted I firmed and then went to swing on his face. But he was so big and so tall that he literally just put his arm out and swatted my arm away like it was a fly. So I punched him as hard as I could in the gut and he grabbed me up and thats when I really knew I was in trouble lol he punched me in the side of the head as he had me hemmed up and when he did, I was able to squirm my way out of the grip of his other hand and I literally just ran to my house lol but the next day, neither of us said anything about it and he offered me fruit rollup and we were cool after that 😂 I think back and just laugh, I'm glad there was only a couple people there and it didnt seem like he or them ever told other people. They never said anything to me if they did lol

Great story, I have a similar one, I grew up in Peoria, Ill. southside, mid 70's. Street fighting was a common thing. I too ran around with some fighters, and at that time I was a green belt in Karate, which was rare. My best buddy a big guy, got into an argument with another big guy, I am only 5'7. 140lbs. So it was the night of a basketball game and a dance, so everyone was at McDonald. The entire school. So my buddy was supposed to fight this other big guy a wrestler. But for some reason, he came at me and said, let's go mother fucker. So of course I kicked him in the groin, but he was wearing a cup, jumped on top of me and pounde the shit out of me. I managed to get some blows in from the bottom, which is a losing situation, I ended up sticking a finger in his eye, and he jumped up. We heard sirens, and split. I had two black eyes and a busted lip. Later at the dance he come walking up to me wearing sunglases, the crowd parted like the Rea Sea. I thought hell I don't want to get beat up again. He stuck his hand out and took his sunglasses off and had to black eyes, He said, I never want to fight you again. My rep was golden. I ran into him 30 years later with his son, and we told him the story. His son said who won. We both said, who ever is telling the story. It was a knock down drag out fight that was talked about for years

😅😂 same story here! Growing up in Livermore California was much the same. I was basically John. All my friends were the toughest guys in town so I had a coat tail reputation.i wasn't much of a fighter although I embraced the false reputation. UNTIL!!! I messed with the wrong guy thinking he'd back down but he did not. Needless to say I got knocked the F out! 😂😂😂 definitely a humbling experience to say the least. My wounded pride eventually recovered and I began training with actual fighters. Two of my hometown friends became UFC welterweight champions. Joe Hurley and Jerry Bolander. So I ended up training with those guys then eventually the Diaz bro's and guys like Jake Shields among others. So in the end it was a good thing as it forced me to actually learn how to fight for real instead of just pretending like I could. So I'd like to thank the guy that kicked the living shit out of me. Thanks buddy I deserved it! Great story guys.

This is so funny. That's exactly the way it was in my town growing up. I think most towns were back then. Thats my exact story. I had some really tough friends. I got a reputation. I fought too but I wasn't a badass like these guys. I didn't take the big beating in front of everyone but only because luck had it that way. I saw several experiences just like this. I love his humility. It was a very weird thing to know in advance you were going to fight someone. The nerves of it all. I think our society was much better off. People didn't jump in. We had more honor. Sometimes you just got your butt kicked. It taught manors , respect and humility. Its embarrassing getting beat up in front of other people. It happened to most everyone though.

As a slim guy you learn NEVER let a bigger guy get you to the ground, ever... you will get hurt unless you know submission moves and can use them. Stay moving , including running ... stick n move or run, but keep your waist protected. I learned after getting crushed in high school ... Love the story though.

Did not have a ton of fights as a kid. I think I can recall 4. One win, three stalemates and no losses. No losses because none of us were great fighters. Even my win would have been a split decision in any arena. Kid fighting is usually a lot of wild swinging and rolling around in the dirt.

I think i was the guy that everyone fought. I’m a nice guy but I’m big and kinda tough (I think anyway). When I asked one guy why he wanted to fight me he said he couldn’t lose. If he won cool but if he lost he could always say …look at the size of the guy of course I lost.

TLDR; I said the wrong thing but stood my ground and had to fight three other kids but since there was a law enforcment agent at that school they had to fight 1v1 in back of the gym. Thank God my parents put me into MMA, BJJ and Muay Thai classes. It was a no-contest fight one after the other (they had to keep look out for LEO's so two would wait and watch) and the rest of my time at that school everyone left me alone and would even go as far as protecting me from other would be fights, because some kids saw it as a fun challenge for a few days. I am pretty sure I concussed one kid, he went to tackle me and in BJJ you just put one arm up, take their momentum and wrap that arm around their head after that it's a simple fall with their head making contact first (he went limp), the point is that kid was the one to warn people it's going to suck. Also I pair of brass knuckles and a knife in a bush plus book armor incase they tried to stab me in retaliation, that school was wild. I do not miss Los Angeles, CA at all.

I mean, getting tackled to the ground right off the bag kinda makes it impossible to fight back. Especially if theyre in your arms or have a particularly strong tackle that knocks you out. Usually builds up to that eith a few punches or something. Id consider that a cheap shot probably.

I was always a short skinny kid in school. I seemed to always get picked on by bullies. I took up boxing for a few years as a youth (2nd to 4th grade) but never liked hurting people. I don’t know how this seemed to usually happen but I’d end up having the guy in a head lock (more like neck lock) and I’d just squeeze until they just about passed out. This is in the ‘70s before mma and I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I picked it up from watching fake wrestling on tv.😂. Damn thing worked on the playground. 3 fights, 3 wins, all with the basic neck lock and choking them out. I had no idea that it could kill a person. I was the short skinny kid trying to survive. If it wasn’t for that neck lock, I’d get my ass kicked.

Lol i looked tough cause i play sports and got wrecked by my brothers through out my childhood. So i was the target. It was rough. People actually went after me just cause other people would use my name to help them not get jumped or something. Lol. I lost so many fights during my freshmen year in highschool. My dad and older brothers in college just told me to defend myself and don't be scared. The coaches were with me as well cause i didn't want to get suspended. So 10-12th grade year. I was really different. I had the skills to back up the tough look. I guess my face is just angry looking during a relaxed state sometimes. I blame that on the YEARS of just wrestling and being tossed around and bullied by my cousins and brothers lol. But man it feels good to defend people during fights. Everyone drops after a solid jab or two. A hook and they they are Koed so fast. No one is really conditioned besides athletes and it's ALWAYS non athletes that bullies people or me. It makes no sense

I have a personal kinda standard for myself, and what that is is, growing up and well in to my 20, almost 30s lol, I would never fight a gay guy or person smaller than me. My reasoning for this is because if I LOSE that fight, it’s gonna destroy my ego 😂😂 pathetic right? Lol
