Shawn, any chance you will ever sit down with Eric Deming? I heard him on the antihero podcast and green beret chronicles this weekend. Holy cow! I mean it’s going to be very controversial to host him but I respect how much you shine light on truth in your channel. His accounts all substantiate what an old 18th mountain division guy told me a few years ago on our way to the range. I had never heard what he said before so I was skeptical but after hearing Deming’s thoughts on things it sounds like it was all true and the seals have a ton of cleaning up to do through revealing the truth and speaking fact to corruption. They mentioned you on the anti hero podcast.

I am a former USAF Combat Search and Rescue Flight Engineer who used the call sign Pedro in Afghanistan - I don't personally know the crew who casevac'd you out, but I can tell you they were not leaving without you. The PJ's truly are the best at what they do, but if we get shot down no one gets saved. It's great to hear you made it home, and the boys (and girls) are continuing the rich legacy of Air Force Combat Search and Rescue.

Being grievously shot and clinging to life is so horribly nightmarish. I had to do self care until I got into formal medical treatment, fully conscious the whole time trying not to bleed out. I remember screaming at God that I wasn't ready to die, not yet. I hung on and he let me live but I had to fight to stay alive, not knowing if each breath would be my last. To put it in perspective, I survived being shot in the head, gruesome injury but I lived, HOOAH!

All wars are for money, the young men and women don’t have to go there to fight for the military industrial complex and come back in pieces physically and mentally.

Mr. Ballen is a great speaker and story teller. Never knew he was a SEAL. This is a great clip. The person he talked about that was so concussed he couldn't speak, I wrote a biography for my friends grandfather about a decade ago. In our interviews, he told me during the infamous "battle of the bulge," he was in a foxhole and an artillery shell exploded next to him and basically the same thing happened to him. Can't imagine that feeling. In Ballen's story, it's just a small grenade, and it still did that.

That effect is called *tachypsychia,* where in times of extreme stress, such as a combat situation or car accident, your brain goes into a brief super perception mode, almost like a video camera going going into high-speed mode where many, many more frames-per-second are being captured than normal. Everything you see seems to be happening much slower, with much more detail and sounds may seem distorted.

I've never been in combat. However I have experienced the human brain hyper-processing that Mr. Ballen is talking about. It is so surreal that you think about it for months later. The human brain is capable of so much throughput that it is absolutely insane. You can have dozens of thoughts, and a complete line of thinking can form for the situation and then you can exercise multiple options for what your action will be and then choose one within a fraction of a second, literally. It happens so fast it's like hyper-reality, like something from The Matrix. As far as I know you cannot control it, but when that moment happens to you even once it is life changing.

The grenade moment is an interesting point - In critically high and tense moments our perception of time changes - Our senses become hyper aware, we're able to process incoming information at a faster rate, this gives the perception of time slowing down. It's a defence mechanism, it's your body going into overdrive to act and react. This guy would probably be dead if it wasn't for his training

He is a good man. Not really sure why his own team hates him. Success, found his calling in life, broke some illusionary code that for some its okay to break it and for others not so much?

Post 9/11 SEALs have a big problem with narcissism and so many of them would literally sell their kids for a little spotlight and pats on the back. The real stories about a lot of guys from Chris Kyle, O'Neil, to Marcus Latrell and even Jocko Willink are starting to come out. Thats the problem with the US's military hero worship complex because is that it enables really shitty people to exploit this ridiculous culture we live in and use it for their benefit. What I like about Allen is that he isn't shoving his military career down people's throats like the others. He has a niche that he does and that's what he focuses on and does really well with it.

Egos, plain and simple. Youll learn in life there are a 2 types of people: those who try to compete with the best and bring themselves UP to their level, and those who try to bring anyone above them DOWN to their level. They are jealous, entitled, probably feel like he gives them a "bad rap" because hes soft spoken and eloquent, and they want everyone to think every seal looks like rambo. ego ego ego

It’s only a handful of seals who are salty about him. He’s not spilling any secrets or talking out of line. Some team guys have a problem with using your trident/SEAL status in a attempt to further themselves. I think that’s just BS. MrBallen doesn’t even reveal in his videos he’s a navy seal . I watched his channel for a year before I found out. He earned the right to share his own personal stories if he chooses lol much love

I can never understand the slow motion thing in combat/high stress situations...not that I dont believe it can happen but I have been in a situation where i had a gun pointed at me and i was pointing one back. Probably 20-30 feet between the two of us. Everything happened so fast..adrenaline was pumping like crazy. Never freaked out at all. Ended up talking the situation out while guns are drawn on the both of us. My old lady and the kids were hidden under a mattress inside my trailer. I dont remember even thinking once. Nothing but pure reaction to an incident that happened very quickly. Was the point in my life I knew for sure I was not a coward and put my life on the line to protect my family.

So many seals are evolving. Used to be service, then service and write a book. Now it's -Service -Write a book -Become a YT influencer😂 and as for the phenomenon of Tachypsychia/time slowing down it is 100% real. Used to happen to me when I was younger a lot. It slows down to like 1/10th normal time. Bizarre. You're able to notice and take in and process everything. I have crystal clear memories of it and what I was thinking, things I noticed that should've have been irrelevant and distant but still was noticed cataloged and processed in less than the blink of an eye. It's wild. Older I get it only happens those times things are about to go REALLY wrong😂 as a kid it was anything. Sports, playing, doing extreme physical things.
