Mr. and Mrs. North (TV-1953) FORMULA FOR TROUBLE

Фильм және анимация

Sophisticated witty series starring Richard Denning and Barbara Britton as a married couple living in NYC who investigate various crimes and invariably solve them before the police do!
FORMULA FOR TROUBLE: Hidden inside the library book that Pam checks out is a breakthrough formula placed there for safekeeping by a researcher. It must be a valuable property because someone's willing to kill to get the document. The murdered scientist worked at the Potter Industrial Research Lab where everyone clearly is hiding something.

What a fun ending comment: "I'm going to love this (rag rug). It has so much of you in it."

The set up/composition---the bit of sort of "hide and seek"--of the 2 shady characters between the bookshelves at the beginning is really quite clever.

We watched this when I was quite young. I had such a crush on Barbara I would lie on the floor and just stare, she was so beautiful. Another lady from that era I was in love with! Thank you for posting these.

watched this when first on in the early 50's as a little kid, but had same reaction. Both characters---thanks to the casting----were very likable, and had great chemistry together. The stories, as I see them now as a much grown adult, reliy on incredible coincidences and such that get the two of them---usually her first---into crazy situations that she usually figures out (and sometimes physically fights here way out of!). But no matter how much the stories often got started by pretty convenient, fairly improbable set-ups, they were always very clever and a lot of fun, again, thanks to the two leads. Especially "Mrs. North". We don't have many charming characters in our programming now...This sort of thing is very much of a bygone era.

You think ‘why would the librarian give her information to that guy?’ But this was the world until it took the death of Rebecca Schafer in the 80s to finally change that 🤦🏻‍♂️

"Why would a young man like that be interested in reading?" "He probably wanted the book for an old man or something" Hahaha. Jerry spouted some very real, really funny repartee sometimes.

Not just for such a simple tantrum no, or such little things or his flaw and loss of reason wouldn't and shouldn't stray or deter one from duty...but if he was truly dangerous, murderer, violent or unstable in a harmful way, then she should leave him and live separately for own protection... But I don't believe in a divorce in any way....what's the point of 'forever vows' or a man and woman naturally mating for life...loyalty or faith in sacred bond should count for something.. But in these dark times, one also needs to protect oneself but for that only and not false pride or ego. A truly caring husband for a wife is a rare treasure indeed as well.
