Welcome back to RBR and to AMG’s most important modern release. This car may seem like just another fast saloon for AMG customers, but it’s much more, this is a car that unifies two separate sides of AMG. Mercedes AMG has historically always had two main product lines: Brutal Mercedes Saloons, like the red pig, Hammer, and modern E63S and the Pure Sports cars, the 300SL, SLS AMG and AMG GT!
But this GT 4 door is the first product, to unify those two worlds into one single vehicle, with the greatest breadth of ability that any AMG has ever had.
Historically the fastest AMG saloon has always been the E63, the modern one with 612BHP from the 4.0 Bi Turbo, going to all four wheels as well as the famed drift mode it introduced beginning a trend amongst its rivals So the question for the GT63S is: how does one top what’s already one of the worlds the prime performance saloons? And that’s what we look at today!
And the differences vs E63 are significant: 640BHP power, use of Carbon reinforced plastic, increased rigidity, Active Aero from AMG GT R and even the rear wheel steering as introduced in that car.
All of this allowed the car to hit 7:25:41 on the Ring, making it the most powerful four seater on the ring! That means it’s as fast as an SLS Black Series and Ferrari enzo, while being faster than the 812 superfast, and Porsche Carrera GT… in a 2 tonne 5 seater family car!

The cup and phone holder is deep designed that way so if you accelerate a little more aggressively it won’t snap back and fly out. It’s actually pretty well thought out. It’s a beautiful car.

800+ hp GT73 will be insanely fast. I just hope they extensively use carbon fiber to negate the Hybrid weight penalty. Imagine an AMG V8 Hybrid built on a carbon fiber monocoque 🔥

I drove a stage 2 gt63s with 780 hp and 1300 torque ITS A MONSTER!! Its downpiped as well so im not even gonna talk about the sound it makes... Great vid Raz as always! Keep it up!

In your 911 video you also praised the Porsche for its everyday abilities and its sportiness. And while the 911 and the AMG seem to be very different on the first sight, they follow the same concept. Emotional sports cars combined with usability. Would be great if you could say a few words on both car and which is better for what goal :)

I learned from a chap that works in Mercedes, race mode actually closes the exhaust valve for track use. You’ll get more noise and feel from sport+

Great review as usual brother, your coverage of any car always covers ALL the vital points and speaks to petrol heads unlike any other review, fantastic channel! A recommendation for a future episode if I may, a comparison of current options for a SPECIFIC situation, the family man who needs a beat of a car that can comfortably transport a 4-5 people. This GT 63S vs the upcoming S63 S Class vs perhaps a V12 Flying Spur vs a Panamera vs (???) I used to own an S63 coupe and loved that thing to death, but with a few kids now its no longer practical or comfortable, my current G63 is also not cutting it for the fam, too rough and back seats not as spacious, plus its not really giving me the enjoyment I got out of driving that wolf-in-a-suit that the S63 Coupe was, what would you say would be the optimal option? I really think that would be a fantastic episode and might answer a question many are asking today

Can I just say, as maybe one of the biggest AMG fans... forget the AMG GT right now.. I have to give you all the props and credit for your amazing video content and quality. Absolutely brilliant.. I think AMG should make you there spokes person officially.. I would even advise them to allow you to do all there AMG commercials period.. You should have 10x the subs you do now... Ok... back to the AMG, I dream about this car all day. I imagine driving it and what that experience would feel like. I know one day soon i will own one. I think I've watched every video on KZread that has this car in it.. I prayed that they would make it when it was a concept. I'm so glad they did. This is a God inspired automobile. Mr AMG that was an awesome review!! From a MB Sales person I would like to say Thank you for your passion for MB and AMG! However I desperately please need you to answer me so I can address my BMW mates why the gt63 was dead off the line on carwow? Plz plz cud u hav another run against the M8cs! Or somehow influence MB AMG to bring out our own competition challenge to the M5cs & M8cs. We are the BEST OR NOTHING and I just feel a bit let down by AMG having M5cs beat our E63 S and M8cs beat out GT63.... I leave it with you sir. Once again thank you for your passion. I really love this car, even the 53 version is fantastic! I am not usually a Mercedes guy but after seeing this car in person, I am really impressed. Question for any Mercedes experts: would you buy any car or SUV used with the 63 engine? Would buying new instead of leasing be a good idea? Just wondering what the reliability and depreciation is like with Mercedes high value cars.
